  1. I'll be gone by the 1st of Aug, if your not ready by then I could get someone to bring the car round. Let me know when you have more details and know the exact cost. I'm going away tonight and after mon I may not have internet access for a week or so, not sure yet. Thanks.
  2. Will need it for around a year I guess, possibly longer, was thinking circa £5 a week, 10 max, I have found a place that does it for £17.99 a week but thats just too expensive. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just off the road, secure and undercover.
  3. Can anyone suggest where I can find some affordable car storage? It does not have to be fancy, just somewhere I could park my car under a cover where it wont get damaged. Needs to be fairly cheap, in an old barn would do. Cheers.
  4. Awesome work, so glad you've still got enthusiasim for it after all this time! I think I would have gotten fed up with it now, so all credit to you! :salute:
  5. Glad to see you've started on the long and winding but ultimately rewarding road!! Oh and hire, beg, borrow or steal an engine crane - dont wanna feck your back up trying to remove it pikey fashion, plus your gonna need one to put the new lump in - which is pis$ easy so just do it all in a day! Good luck! :salute:
  6. Nope, you will need to have a look at the fuel pump relay. There is loads of good info on k jet systems on the net; http://www.diagnostic-assistance.co.uk/mech_inj.htm - very good. HTH
  7. Yup. Used them myself before. :)
  8. If I wasnt selling mine and moving abroad I'd be buying this.
  9. Ahh that took me back..... days when Top Gear actually did car reviews :D I've said it before but I think from certain angles the Corrado is sex, the front has aged, but side and rear views still look damn good, its just that proper sweeping coupe line from front to back that does it for me..... :norty: Subtle drop, nice alloys, new repeaters and all red rears. Simple. As.
  10. You're more than welcome to come and lend a hand mate. I'll let you know when we start! I'm more than happy to lend a hand too mate. I will pop up in my C so you can photocopy and use tracing paper as required... you forgot bigpantsbaby pete, so that makes 8/9 i think. Dont forget mine! Had my engine for over a year now... cars been off the road or 27 months now. Its not a "fashion" thing. Thought it would be the more reliable choice over a vr6t.[/quote:1i8mdfzu] Are the 2.8's not allowed to join this club? :(
  11. Sorry if it came across I was being funny, I wasn't, I guess 1500 is about right but was kind of hoping the fact everything would be there to sort it one go would be an attraction, the amount of ball ache, sourcing info and gathering bits plus the waiting and depending on other people can all be done away with, as has been shown on this forum a number of times, engine conversions don't happen quickly or without grief unless you have the funds to outsource and even then people tend to end up waiting longer than initially planned. dukest - I just dont have the time or energy to entertain putting it back to standard, so if I sell the engine etc, the only choice for me is breaking... :( Which to be honest, I really dont want to do, but I've got to be realistic, I need the car gone and I need some extra cash. I'm going to start a 10 day auction on the bay middle of next week, with a reserve significantly lower than my asking price - when selling in the past I always got silly offers, but I'm not even attracting those..?
  12. Was hoping it would be slightly more than that.. Its an idea I'm toying with at the moment as I've had feck all interest in my car, I'm moving overseas for work in July, I have no where to store the car. It needs to be worth it if I'm going to break it though.... fecking credit crunch.
  13. How much do you lot suppose a 2.8 24v engine complete with pedal, plug and play loom, defeated ecu, modified engine mount, spal fan, maf, custom downpipe, etc etc - everything to do a 24v conversion over a weekend is worth??
  14. I've got an 08 plate Octy vRS TDi - great car - bit lardy so handlings not so good but has buckets of torque. 8) Lots of kit for the money. I'm guessing you'd be going for a petrol - and you dont need to be told about the tuning oppourtunities there. To be fair there is a wealth of information on the briskoda forum, I'd have a nose around on there. HTH
  15. I used the A354 ( I think...or was it A435...A345.. er anyway ) from Salisbury down to Dorset yesterday, just after lunchtime, nice and bright, no glare, dry, empty roads with long range visabilty - could even see into the fields to see no tractors were gonig to pull out on me. Miles and miles of 80+mph tarmac, beautiful. :) Oh yeah, obviously I dreamt all this. The petition is a waste of time, they never take any notice. I'll always drive as fast as I can when I am certian its safe for me, pedestrians and other road users to do so. I fecking hate peolpe who drive below the speed limit! - By this I mean the afforementioned 40 drivers in 60 zones.
  16. The MAF I have on my 24v is different to the original 12v hot wire style one - different size and plug.
  17. Food for thought, thank you for your replies. :D
  18. Does anyone know if you can get dual 52mm gauges - by this I mean where there are two things displayed? What I'd like is one which displays oil temperature and pressure. Thanks in advance.
  19. I was bored at the weekend and emailed VW asking why the Corrado is missing from the timeline on their website, I got this back today: Thank you for your enquiry with Volkswagen.co.uk Thank you for pointing this out to us, we are currently working on adding the Corrado to the timeline. Sorry for any inconvenience caused Kind Regards Volkswagen Marketing
  20. I used to have a subscription for Golf+ for years but gave up on it shorty after it got a new editor (Fabien Cotez... IIRC) the magazine seemed to go downhill after that. I've not looked through one for about a year now but even then when I decided to stop giving them my money it was still a far superior publication compared to PVW, the last one I bought seemingly had pages and pages dedicated to a POS rat mk3 Polo with seemly no redeming features and lots of American cars that are not to my taste. Might just be me though, I seem to get bored of magazines quickly and conversly I hate it when they change a format I like. About a year ago I would have about three different car mags delivered a month, now I have none and dont really miss them.. I would buy a decent V.A.G based magazine though, provided it had lots of how to guides / technical columns.
  21. I'm actually trying to sell mine at the moment but in the most half-arsed way... I guess I dont really need to sell but thats not it. I just dont really want to let it go. I've had problems with mine, to be fair self-inflicted to a point, its been off the road for prolonged periods, I've spent more than I care to think about, there are planty of things that bug me about the car - car park dinks, stone chips, rattles and the like, but when I get in it I love it. It just feels right. I do all the things already listed, always turn round to look at it as I walk away from it, look at it in shop window reflections and sometimes when walking down the drive to the garage I'll just stop for a few seconds to admire the lines and sometimes take a quick pic on my phone, from some angles I think it is one of the nicest looking cars on the road.
