  1. thanks for the tips mate, the timing belt and tensioner were done 8500 miles ago, but i have bought new ones anyway. the thing is i dont have a clue what to do with or even where the tensioner goes. so i think i might do the cam...reuse old timing belt...then get local garage to do the timing situation as its mot time next week anyway, and i have a set of coilovers to go on :D

  4. hi all , as posted recently i'm considering doing my kr cam fitting diy style :D . the thing is after opening the cams i suddenly realise that i dont even know which is the inlet cam :oops: so i would be most grateful if someone with the knowledge could point out which is which before i open things up :lol: thanks as always martin

  11. i used to have similar problems , turned out i had 2 broken wires on the plug for the throttle position switch (potentiometer). took a long long time to find out , changed many parts in the process. fuel pump, potentiometer, throttle body, mass air flow meter , ignition switch....... and all it was was 2 wires. :oops: mine is a 2.0 16v if this is no help at least its a bit funny :D

  14. hi all, not posted for what seems like ages, moved house early jan to get a driveway for the car, still not moved in :( anyway i'll get to the point, when i was parking the car a few days ago steam started coming out of the bonnet (not good) i was thinking burst hose hopefully. but it turns out the resevior screw lid thing had came off but i'm quite sure i tightened it when i last topped it up. (found it also :) ) so the question is is this a symptom of something bad? or am i worrying about nothing? also i dont think the temp guage hasnt moved since, but i havent been stuck in traffic so not sure. any advice you can offer will be great cheers all martin
  15. i got one from vw about a year ago. £60 ish as far as i remember. called the throttle potentiometer i think :)
  16. had a wee look with a torch , there is a scrape mid bumper above the tow eye, and on the top directly above a crack about 4'' long........steady :D loving all the advice... especially vr6 :snipersmile:
  17. my neighbour just told me she saw a black taxi bumping into the back of my car and then he drove off :mad: but she got the reg number :) should i call the cops or wait til the taxi offices are open tomorrow??

  19. looks like your right :cry: storm-nut, the screws are rusty as f###. not killed them yet, i will soak them with wd40 for a while(probably about a week :D ) then try again when i have time to get drilling if needed thanks for the guide guys. did you get the vr yet cazza??

  21. hi all, i'm trying to remove my headlights, easiest way to change the bulbs so it seems? did a search and found out that there are 3 screws to be removed, the first 2 are obvious but i cant see the third :oops: all help much appreciated :)
