  1. My bad idle was caused by 2 broken wires(burst inside the plastic covers) on the plug that attaches onto the throttle potentiometer.....only took about a year to find :D ....that was after a new MAF, distributor, leads, throttle potentiometer, fuel pump, and a replacement throttle body and many times cleaning the ISV . Its worth a check as i'm sure someone else also had this.....and its free to look  Mine is also a 2.0 16v btw If you haven't yet looked then use the search....there will be loads of reading as its a common fault.....with usually a few answers Good Luck
  2. very nice........great colour 8)
  3. not sure if this will help....its a link to the installation manual....had a quick look and i haven't a clue good luck http://homepage.ntlworld.com/betyouaint ... nstall.pdf
  4. sorry to hear about this mate.....are you still parking up the hill near the flats?....the wind was real bad last night.....i was up a couple of times to check all was ok and ended up lifting the wheelie bins twice.....they seemed to miss the c but not by much. 200k and still going strong.....nice one :)
  5. I had the same problem on my c (2.0 16v).....sorted now and although i'm used to it i remember the difference in the before and after :D
  6. the led on mine is out when the engine is on with the drivers door shut.....green when you disarm it until you start(within given time).....red when this time runs out.....orange when key is in ignition and when just taken out and door is open here are a few pics of the operating instructions. ps i want to buy the handbrake cover on your for sale thread :D
  7. There is a place in Hillington ind estate called Kenneth Brown Motorsport.....they did my camber adjustment. when i was there they had a golf vr6 in....i asked if they did the chains etc (hoping that i'll be involved with a vr6 one day) and they said yes. no idea if they would be any good or reasonably priced though. I dont have a number for them but i am happy to show you where they are if you want to ask them yourself.....i'm in mosspark by the way martin
  8. autodata says its here.....not exactly clear but......

    Engine run on

Hi, I was told by a so called vw specialist garage that my 5th injector was faulty(while trying to sort the infamous dodgy idle) and they unplugged it and told me it is not really needed anyway.....and they seem to be right.....that is well over a year ago and it starts first time all the time.....i will eventually get round to replacing it.......maybe
  10. I'd also be looking at the throttle position switch or more likely the wiring that goes into it.....on mine my bad idle was caused by 2 broken wires on the plug that connects to the throttle position switch.....not easy to spot though as the plastic sheath was still intact. mine is a 2.0 16v but the info i have here says you have a similar throttle setup......i'm sure someone will correct me though :D
  11. As far as i remember it was a bit difficult....i i cut the overlap a few times at 40mm intervals and gave it some serious heating and they seemed to stick fine.....the corner was the worst....ended up having to remove a wee bit to get it flat.....not easy to describe i'm afraid
  12. Cheers mate :D .....its fairly straightforward.....the rears are easy to take out and do them in the house/garage.....same for the fogs and indicators.....the only hard bit for me was the headlights as the screws holding them were and still are badly rusted so i just did them in situ. a sharp blade(stanley) to take off the raised writing.....a quick sand and clean then put on with soapy water if i remember then borrow the girlfriends hairdryer and sort of heat/melt them into position pushing from the middles to remove the excess water.leave them overnight to dry properly....a wee bit of tape for extra holding. sounds dodgy but they have held for about a year now without any peeling 8) good luck
  13. did ya do that yourslf?? or buy like that?? looks cool! i did them myself.....got the stuff from empirex (i think)....it was a group buy discount thing on here....quite easy to do....just a bit footery.....thanks for the positive comments :D
  14. 17's 205/17/40.....lowered and all is ok 8)
  15. i have empirex rear smoked with reverse slots and blue on the front......indicators and reverse work fine as do the front lights.....no questions at mot time either :D
  16. smoked overlays on the rear....blue overlays on the front....aqua blue....close enough?
  17. this sounds similar to what happened to mine recently although it is a 2.0 16v all in it got 1 a new water pump 2 a new thermostat 3 a new thermo fan switch all works now.....and the heater has never been as hot !!! :D look here http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... &sk=t&sd=a
  18. sounds like the warning beep you get if you go round a bend too fast....its an alarm to tell you that your oil isn't where it should be  .......its asking you to take it easy.....either that or it might be faulty
  19. one came in the passenger side head first trying to grab/punch....while defending myself against him.....which aint that easy sitting down with a seatbelt on....the other dude opened the drivers door and introduced me too his boots.......so you dont have to sit on the middle for them both to get you......not something i'd recommend anyway :D edit....just re read what i said originally.......ok they didn't exactly get ''in''......but they got in enough :D
  20. my passenger window stopped working for about 4 months.....got a new motor and mechanism...but never got round to fitting it :? .....then one night about a month ago i went through a big puddle...... and splashed a few people by accident .....got caught in traffic and two wet people got into the car....one on each side and set about me  ....a few kicks to the head and a bit of abuse and they were off.......slamming the doors as they went.......leaving me a bit sore but not too bad considering.......but then on the way home i happened to try my passenger window(did this now and again as i could hear a click)and it worked  i wouldn't advise this.....but your motor/mechanism may only be stuck good luck :D
  21. possible air lock in the coolant system preventing coolant being pumped through your heater matrix? i'm sure someone else with far more knowledge will help more than this. good luck
  22. there is nothing quite like a close call to help you slow down......when i was young (and stupid) i overtook a really slow guy on a windy country road....blind bend down a hill 60mph , 4 people in the car....went over the brow of the hill and the road was off to the left  .....BIG sideways with the back end off the road....passengers screaming......me holding steering wheel like a vice. if anyone was coming the other way we were off the road and down a quite steep drop....and in a nova i think we would have been toast.....my legs were shaking for a couple of hours afterwards......as were my ears  i'm sure some of my fellow scots will know the road.......aberfoyle to callander glad your ok mate
  23. ok mate thank you.....i'll go toledo hunting in the scrappies at some point then
