You obviously didnt speak to me! :) Granted that sounds steep but its hard to really explain when i dont know any of your details and the fact the cheapest rate you where able to get was still £700 suggests that something in your personal details is considered "high Risk". That could be anything from the car you drive, age, occuaption, convictions, even where you live. Dont take that the wrong way im not having a go at you personally, just trying to explain it from an insurers perspective. In an ideal world we would all be paying £150 a year with all the mods we like, agreed values, trackday cover the works but it just aint gonna happen and probably 99% of people think they are paying too much anyway! Everyone including me hates paying hundreds of ££ for a sheet of paper you will hopefully never need! :( If you want me to have a look and see if i can improve on the £700 you are paying with brentacre then PM me your surname, postcode and mobile number and i will happily see if i can do anything to beat that for you and hopefully at least improve your opinion of HIC. Worst case even if i cant help i can explain why the rates where not competitive for you, after all we cant be the cheapest for everyone! Martin :)

so true! No probs mate its cool, i wasnt having a pop, just wanted to make sure people understood that they can still try to get quotes from both and may well get a better rate, its only renewals where we wont compete. At the end of the day as long as you go with either flux or HIC the big boss man is happy! :)

Very nice mate, love the seats!! 8) i want a vr...... :(
-
True, HIC and flux are completly seperate companies but are both owned by the same person. We both offer garantees to existing policy holders to beat any rate they get on renewal as far as i know (although personally i only deal with new customers/quotes) therefore obviously its not worth beating each others renewal prices (trying to explain it from the company point of view, not my personal opinion!). HIC and flux still quote against each other for people who do not hold a policy with either company and both have slightly different policies on offer (eg HIC can cover trackdays etc flux dont and flux can cover NOS, HIC dont. hope that sort of made sense Martin :)

Worst thing some has said about ur Corrado
martinb replied to CorradoDriver's topic in General Car Chat
I took my kids too the local park about a month ago and as i pulled up a small boy (about 5?) ran up and asked excitedly "wow is that your yellow lamborghini?" when i explained it was actually a VW he just frowned and wandered off! the only other one was when my Dad (an avid ford fan!) critisised it for having a cheap feeling plasticy interior!! he drives a ford ffs!!!!! -
oh right, so just all the paint has come off all four of mine! Will get some spray then, was thinking about getting the wheels refurbed anyway if i dont decide to change them. Cheers Rob

mine appear to be a kind of nasty off-yellow colour, anyone know is this something that was standard on yellow corrado's or have they been subjected to some iffy colour coding in the past? :)

lol beat me too it! I think the red tail lights look really good and i want some! Always a bit wary of buying stuff abroad though.... :)

Hello G60, Goodbye Splitty. Corrado Now Cleaned & Pics
martinb replied to claire.major's topic in Members Gallery
Welcome Claire, very nice looking G60! I've always wanted a splitty tho and that one looks wicked! think i would have found a way to keep both! 8) the notchback looks awsome too! I want an aircooled toy...... :( -
cheers for all your comments Yeah i didnt think i would ever have considered a yellow one when i was looking for one but when i saw this one advertised locally i though what the hell and went and had a look and loved it. Plan? For starters prob a big drop and some german plates. After that either get the standard wheels refurbed or polished or changed to something different and maybe some different tail lights. Other than that there is not a great deal i want to do cos i think corrado's look stunning as they are so dont need a great deal doing. :)

again it will vary hugely depending on the company. Based on the classic policies we offer classic does usually have to be on limited mileage (7500 or lower), the car has to be 15yrs old or older and the customer must be 19 or older and held a full licence over 1year. The car does not have to be a 2nd vehicle but it will make the rates much better if it is. Hope this helps a bit.

All insurers will base their rates based on statistics such as claims (by area/age/type of car/occupation etc) etc and the type of business they are into for example @ hic where i work we are usually pretty good on modded dubs etc but if you buy a brand new mondeo our rates will be rubbish - its not what we are into. Different brokers will also use different insurance underwriters and may get different rates based on how much business they put with a particular insurer and how profitable that account is (again claims!) eg you could phone 10 brokers and get 10 different quotes with the same underwriter! Usually if you get a really high rate from a company it just means your details dont match up to what they are after but rather than refuse you they will offer you a very high price. If all insurers offered the same rates that would suck cos you would end up with only one company and you would not be able to play insurers off each other to get a better deal. If it was as you said if you did get a high quote you would be stuck with it! Doesnt sound great to me imo..... :? I could probably go on all day about how it all works but it would get very boring very quickly! :D

Unfortunatly mate thats not true, during the 14days if you are on cover they can charge you for the time you have been on cover (usually subject to a minimum fee) + any admin fee they decide on. Under FSA rules though this cooling off period must be explained to you along with the charges that will apply when you set up the policy. Most companies record their calls now so might be worth finding out if you were told this.... Good luck. Martin

Mines Nugget Yellow, wasnt exectly my 1st choice (in fact i would normally never even consider a yellow car!) but it has really grown on me, really like it now! 8)
-
Err....slight update on this, as of today i have had a memo stating that classic policies through HIC will now use and build up NCB! 8)
-
Is that 2 year period standard throughout the industry? A mate of mine told me he lost his NCB after not getting a policy within 6 months of his car being written off. I thought it was 2 years, too. the majority insurers will take a ncb from up to 2years, some (but not many) will even take it from longer. If his insurer wouldnt accept the ncb and its still within 2yrs and he has or can get written proof of his NCB just go to another company that will take it. 8)
-
again it varies with companies, some of the underwrites we use will only quote classic if its a 2nd car, some put on a large load if its your only car and some dont mind. :)
-
Classic NCB varies with different companies but as a rule most classic policies dont use/build up a NCB in the same way as a normal policy. If Lancasters policy does not use NCB then there is a good chance it wont build one up either so you need to be aware if you are not using your ncb from Tesco on that policy and you dont use that ncb within 2years you could lose it and go back to 0 as most insurers will only accept ncb that is from a policy which expired within the last 2years. Obviously im just basing this on how our classic policies work and if Lancaster do it differently then fair play, but its probably worth checking anyway.... :)
