Ins. Company asked for like for like adverts for my car, how
martinb replied to Son of a Beesting's topic in Insurance
I would not worry about trying to get the same spec, concentrate on getting adverts for cars that are a similar year and/or mileage and for sale at a similar amount to what you have your car valued at so show that their offer is too low. You can then back this up with facts like your has leather, rebuild etc etc best of luck Martin 8) -
I dont mind seeing if i can beat it for you (no garantee's, but no harm in trying!), pm me your name and number and i will give you a bell! Martin 8)

Cheers, yeah i pinched the badge from a workmate and was well pleased what a difference such a cheap simple mod made, prefer the look too a debadged one, still cant decide whether to keep or lose the 16v badge tho? Cheers, yeah might do, only got the suspension on yesterday. Dont want them to cath the arches tho...

tbh im surprised they offered that much, insurers guide/book prices are usually always hugely different to enthusiast valuations thats why im always going on to people about how important agreed valuations are and why sometimes its worth paying a little extra to be with a specialist. In their opinion thats all its worth, same as thats all you would be likely to be offered if you tried to trade the car in at a local vw dealers, remember to a lot of these people its just an 11+ yr old car thats done over 100k, most probably dont even know what a corrado looks like! All you can do mate is stick to your guns and send them loads of examples of similar spec cars for sale (sometimes hard for something like a storm as there aint that many about!) showing the prices they go for and hope for a better offer. best of luck Martin

Cheers Jim, i had too remove my sig as it was too big and im a bit of an IT numpty so dont know how to resize it..... you sure your covered for their replacement????.......as I'm with Admiral too and although I've also declared my Schrick,Konis and miltek they will only replace with VW equipment if I had to claim thats a very good point, remember that corrados are quite a specialist car now so in my opinion it is often worth paying a little more to have the peace of mind that the car is covered properly. The cheapest is not always the best, i could easily get my car insured for about £150 per year but i happily pay almost twice that cos i know that it has agreed value so i will be paid what its worth in a claim not the insurers "book price" which is usually feck all, my mods are covered like for like and i get the option to keep the car in if i want after a claim. also you dont have to put up with people at mainstream comanies asking stoopid questions like is it diesel? it a saloon or estate?

cheers ben, we do offer classic polices on corrado's. Ideally 2nd cars on ltd mileage, most of our classic policies are for cars 15yrs old or older however we have one underwriter that covers cars up too 5years or older on their "classic & enthusiast" vehicle policy and they re usually very competitive too as long as the car is parked off road. Hope that helps Martin

probably too late but i can sort out temporary/short term policies and email documents, you should be able to get tax on short term insurance as long as you have at least 14days to run on the policy when you are getting your tax. PM me if you want any more info. Hope this helps..... Martin 8)

scary stuff!!! As the clips are in slow motion though there is no telling how fast they where going, chances are if it was fast enough then most other cars would not fare much better either Also there is no telling what condition the cars where in, they hardy look mint, could have been well rotten

Cheers mate! Got a couple more pics the other day: Got my new pressed numberplates from Dubmeister (present from my mrs, thanks Emma x) Check it out - colour coded scenery!!!!! It was so tempting just to drive into that field then see how long it took to find it again! The slammed red mk2 GTI belongs to a workmate, the black GTI in the top pic is HIC's entrant into the Ramshackle Rally!

The Corrado got a wash and polish at the weekend and it was sunny so thought it was a perfect excuse to go get some better pics. Ok so not much has visably changed since before but it has had a shed load of cash chucked at it and loads of stuff fixed that you cannot see (engine mount, exhaust, shocks, brakes, door handle, headlight switch, cv joint etc etc) and now **touch wood" all is well (bar a squeeky spoiler) so i may be able to look at doing some fun stuff to it rather than just fixing it! 8) Martin :)

as already mentioned buddy, always declare any mods, with a specialist insurer the extra cost is often not as much as you think and far outweighs the consequences(sp?) should you not declare. Martin 8)

Cant really add anything to the good advice you have had already, just stick to your guns and make sure you take an agreed value policy next time! Best of luck 8)

my other half drove my Rado over the weekend and.....totally hated it! She said she felt too cramped and closed in and it was too low (wait til its lowered!! ) and hard to get in and out of. She used too love my old mk2 Golf Gti 8v Turbo tho and thrashed it harder than i ever did!
