Hey Bryn. That would be me :) Looks like that picture was actually taken at the Elemental show in Stansted, Essex? Where abouts in Essex are you from? That would be cool if you could post me the documents you have on the car, or even meet up if you live nearby! Cheers Martin

no real progress with the VR conversion at the moment, its been keeping me busy enough just keeping it working at the moment - a new starter motor and some (of the many) wiring gremlins sorted means I can now start on the key again! Also had the handbrake freezing on in this cold weather! Its probably the dirtiest its ever been but a couple of snow pics: :)

spotted a dark blue (i think) VR in Stansted about 2.30pm on Saturday and then this one in Bishops Stortford today:

As above, to fit my 1990(G) Corrado. Anyone? Cheers :)

As above - I need a starter motor for my Corrado asap as I'm currently car-less. Ideally I'd like to collect as I need the car sorted and posting is likely to take a while due to the new year, so in / around Essex/Cambs area would be great. Its for a 1.8 16v on a G plate (not sure if later cars differ but already have 1 spare but its different???) Cheers

Where I work (HIC) our valuations are based on resale value in the enthusiast market, not the amount you have spent so £5k sounds like a good valuation based on what Corrado's are currently selling for? Looking on here / E38 etc etc, there are not that many at higher values than that. We also have a few classic car price guides (based on standard spec cars) and from memory (having a 'Rado myself, it was the first thing I checked!) the values these list suggest thats a decent valuation. Obviously I dont know the spec or condition of your particular car so maybe it is worth more but to me it sounds fair. I just got my Agreed Valuation agreed @ £2000! Still, a damn site better than "book" price though :) ---------- Post added at 10:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:16 PM ---------- It may well be worth submitting an independant valuation to them (Obviously this may not help with Perfomance Direct but I get to see a lot of AV applications at work and certainly those with an independant valuation, tend to stand a better chance at being agreed at the requested amount). Many insurers will accept an independant valuation from an owners club official or a specialist garage (although often as supporting eveidence to their own form + pics receipts etc), however it HAS too be independant - a valuation from a garage you have paid to restore your car is worthless as the insurers will not consider it "independant" (they are hardly likely to give an honest opinion if they have done all the work after all!). Hope that helps. Martin

that would have been me! Didnt see you though mate, what were you in? I spotted 2 on weds too when I went christmas shopping in Cambridge shortly after you saw me - a sherry pearl (i think thats the colour) one near Asda, dont think the "mature" looking lady even noticed me going the other way in mine, and a dark blue valver(?) parked on a drive near the hospital, think I have previously seen the first one parked on the drive next door!

Cheers for all the comments. My lad loves getting his hands dirty, but its rare for my wife and daughter! Cool, will look into that! Where was that dude? I didnt see you? Cheers - I,ve been told its pretty straight forward - I have a mate helping me (well most of the time its more me helping him haha!) who has done VR conversions before and helping with the ABF swap in my Nugget so fingers crossed all goes to plan.

won some new front seats on ebay today as my tatty drivers seat has bugged me since I got the car. Same pattern as my orginal seats but half leather, not sure if these were like this from the factory or have been retrimmed? (sellers pic as have not collected yet) Will be selling my cloth fronts if anyone interested....

My 6yr old lad was asking about my Corrado the recently as he is a budding car nut and said he never see's any others. I explained to him they are quite rare and then said I would give him and extra £1.50 pocket money for every one he spotted as long as he had either a witness or a picture, a challenge he gladly accepted. I have paid up for 2 genuine spots (one of which was a mates one when we went to see him after I had completely forgotten about our agreement) over the past few weeks. Tonight he brought his little camera too me with a picture of a red Corrado he had taken and demanded £1.50, I was about to pay but then got suspicious as i noticed the car had US spec bumpers on, so I checked the details on the camera and saw the pic had been taken just a few mins earlier! At this point he ran off giggling and after catching him and tiggling him a bit, the little bugger admitted he got the image from google! Now I'm undecided whether to pay up as part of me is very impressed that he thought of this....the other part of me is extremely concerned that he is able to almost scam me at 6!!! Does he deserve his £1.50 extra pocket money?

Agreed valuations are usually based on the estimated resale value of the vehicle to a fellow enthusiast not the build cost so you will rarely get it agreed at the amount you have spent. It sounds like you have already done a pretty good job of trying to justify your valuation to your insurer so if they have not agreed this then it may well be worth submitting an independant valuation to them (I cant gauarantee with all insurers but working at HIC I get to see a lot of AV applications and certainly those with an independant valuation, are more likely to be agreed at the requested amoun)t. The insurers will usually accept an independant valuation from an owners club official or a specialist garage, however it has too be independant - a valaution from a garage you have paid to restore your car is worthless as the insurers will not consider it "independant" (they are hardly likely to give an honest opinion if they have done all the work after all!). How long have you owned the car? If they have not even agreed the amount you purchased it for, it may be worth sending a copy of the purchase receipt too. Also any examples of similar spec cars you can find for sale around your requested valuation. Hope that helps. Martin
