The blue/white wire you mean... that's my guess, since it comes out of the same loom as the rest of the sensor wires. Was the oil pressure gauge a factory option on the G60 though?? I thought it was an SLC/VR6 thing. Skye

Nope. Nothing under the airbox. Skye

I think I've solved my problems, I cleaned up the two oil pressure sensors with brake cleaner, and also fixed the wires to the sensors, they were cracked and frayed and generally about ready to fall apart. Cut them back to good wire and put on new sealed connectors. No oil warning light since then. Also I fixed my oil temp sensor problem, I found the green/black wire which was supposed to be plugged into the sensor was plugged into the STARTER for some reason!!! duhhh previous owner  PS I was right, in the pic I posed above, the sensor at the back of the oil filter housing (dirty, with yellow wire) is the 1.8bar oil press sensor, the sensor in front of it with nothing attached is the oil temp sensor (green/black wire), and the 0.3bar oil press sensor is on the right side of the head (looking from the front of the car) where the oil feed line to the 'charger comes out (blue/black wire) There is also a blue/white wire that isn't connected to anything and according to survey, isn't supposed to be connected. Voltmeter is good but if I had to pick two: 1. air/fuel meter 2. oil pressure If the alt dies the warning light should come on, and you might get stranded until you can get a new voltage regulator or alternator. But if there are problems with the two listed above your engine is going to grenade..... for the A/F meter you will have to have a second oxy sensor fitting welded into your downpipe I believe. Skye

Yes, I had a brain fade (sun was too hot) I don't know why I didn't check to see if any were live. Anyway I'm pretty certain it was for the old AKTIV system and it's nothing to worry about. I'll have the doors apart again soon to put a new handle on the driver's side and rekey the tumbler on the passenger side, so I'll double check then. Skye

Hmm the other board says they are for the passive seatbelt system - would make sense, as it doesn't work Skye

Get your car working properly first before modding it!! This is a good place to start. http://g60.f4.ca/tech/g60_problems.html Skye

What are these empty relays for, behind the rear door cards? Found them when I was rewiring the speakers. There are two empty relays on both sides. Thanks, Skye
-
Found these while installing my new speakers... please tell me this is just old wiring for the in-door AKTIV amps (which is all removed) and that none of these wires are live! Thanks, Skye
-
And here's the new wiring ready for the head unit. Removed the glove box for access, would have been nearly impossible otherwise. In the background is my new "piss off" yellow Disklok :) Skye

Rewired the whole AKTIV speaker system this weekend, this is all the previous wiring that was in the car, layers on layers of wires running back and forth, including two 4 gauge power cables, three pairs of RCA cables, and some old DIN style CD changer cable. Must weigh about 10 lbs!! What is even more astounding is they ran these nice 12ga wires and then just twisted the ends together, no crimp or solder or anything. Brilliant. There were also live wires just sitting there ready to short out. Needless to say I ran a completely new, very clean wiring system!! Skye

Amazing what a little wax can do!! Sun *just* went down as I finished.. get some better pics soon. Skye

On the top hose next to each other, The BLUE sensor is coolant temp for the ECU. If you unplug this with the car running, and it works, the RPM should change (quick & dirty test) The BLACK sender is coolant temp for gauge display. If you unplug this, the gauge display will be disabled. Skye

If anyone cares......... Looks like the forward sensor is for oil temp

Hey are you sure the two sensors on top of the filter head are both pressure sensors? I have some conflicting information that says the front sensor on the filter head is the oil temp sensor, and the one on the cyl head is the other (low, .25 bar) oil pressure sensor. This would fit with the problems I'm seeing, as the only sensor of the three that is disconnected is the front sensor on the head, and the MFA oil temp reads max all the time. The sensor on the side of the head is hanging on by one strand - could explain my bleeping problems, as well. I think I found the green/black sensor wire which is supposed to go to the front sensor, but there is no spade connector on the front sensor :( Actually there are a whole bunch of wires I found that are super close to breaking, so I'm going to be doing a bunch of rewiring this weekend for sure.......... Maybe you can x-ref the wire colours from these diagrams? http://volkswagen.msk.ru/vw_09.htm Skye

Mostly questions for Henny Well just went for a little drive to get the smog check (passed!!!! amazing!!!) and the warning light was screaming bloody murder so I had to pull over and check Pulled off the yellow wire on the back sensor (high pressure or low pressure sensor?) and it continued to beep. Are the sensors NO or NC? ie when 1.8 bar is reached should the sensor open a path to ground, or should it close it. Also the warning light was blinking, does this indicate something as opposed to if it was just solid on. Last question... does the yellow sensor wire and the green/black sensor wire come out of the harness at the same spot? I couldn't find the green/black (the spade conn is broken off the front pressure sensor) and I may need to dig for it. If it doesn't come out with the yellow wire what harness does it come out of? Thanks muchly... Skye

Thanks guys, this has been a very informative thread, as I'm having the same problems. I have to say this forum is so much better than the "other" board!! I thought the forward sensor on the oil filter housing was the oil temp, but now I know better... there's nothing connected to the front oil pressure sensor! Didn't know where the oil temp sensor was before, it reads max 320F all the time, I will check that at lunchtime :) cheers!! Skye

Cleaning it didn't help. Bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep during this morning's drive.

Oh you mean the rubber seals. Hadn't thought of that, I don't think those cause the handles to break though. I would clean & grease the latch box every few years... Skye

WD40 is not a long term lubricant, WD stands for Water Displacement it was originally designed to be sprayed on electronics to dry them out... DO NOT use it to lubricate moving parts. You want to use a grease, any kind really, lithium or whatever. Here's a post off vwvortex about fixing the cause of broken door handles: Hope that helps Skye

OK I'll check the afterrun and fuel pressure switches... I'm pretty sure the afterrun switch is wired up because the fan does run for a little while after the car's been run hot and shut off. What does the fuel pressure switch control? Cutout for the fuel pump when a certain pressure is reached? My exhaust does smell quite gassy, perhaps this has something to do with my rich mixture (well that and all the air leaks which I know about and the other ones I haven't yet found) Thanks guys This board is the best... No idea I'm afraid just offering support I'm in the same boat, good luck with it Skye

Got it today, it looks the business.... Skye

The more I dig, the more little things I find, I suppose that's to be expected though. If anyone can help me identify these wires and what there's supposed to be connected to, it would really help. First victim - this is just a two-wire connector, both ends are there, it was just disconnected - my guess is this is for the AC system which is non functional (fine by me, I'm going to yank it all I think, clean up the engine bay - hardly ever hot enough to use it in the northwest anyway) Second is a bit more worrying, hopefully its more AC stuff but I'm not sure. Two wires on the left, I can get the colours better if needed, and what looks like some sort of ground maybe on the right? Thanks in advance for the help. Off to try emissions test tomorrow - rate my chances of a pass about 50/50. poor little abused Corrado! I'll make it right tho. Skye
