Chart in manual ***= If incorrect go to trouble shooting section (not included:() ****= Numeric value should change. (formula for Can. not included) So, make sure the MFA switch is on "2" and cycle once (clock symbol showing) At least that's how it works on my car. Skye

Strange, the MFA on my '90 US car reads out three numbers for intake vacuum... > Intake vacuum = psi > 172 2.9 > 192 5.8 > 211 8.7 > 228 11.6 > 242 14.5 > 255 17.4 But I did find this info: the book says 1400 is 5.8, and 1600 is 8.7. this is for up to august 1990. the chart for 91-92 stops at 1100 for some reason. but on that chart, 1100 is 1.5 psi, so looks like the same thing. since you have the motometer, it is easier for you to figure out. 1000 is atmospheric pressure at sea level (not sure where you live) or 0 psi. every 100 over that is 1.47 psi. .... so if that's right 3000 = 29.4 psi?!?? yikes that cant be right - oh well Skye

Yes, .024 is the right gap... I'm using NGK BPR6ES ($3 and change each) and they are working fine so far. Skye -
Just gut the cat it doesn't take much work and avoids hassles Skye
-
Well I'd say whatever way you go you're going to need at least 4 valves per cylinder for those numbers so you might want to start with the 16v 1.8L and plan on adding a turbo I think 250 is a more realistic number Skye

Nah you can get the top mount nuts off with an air gun, it's violent enough to get them off without using a hex key in the center Skye
-
Yes standard, I think 3rd brake light was/is required by law here and license plate lights do work Why would you want to take it off?? Anything to keep the SUVs from running into the back of me Oh well your car :D Skye

Wear with pride... I think it looks classy Don't mind the dust :D Skye

Have you done a spark test? Maybe you have a weak spark. What plugs did you put in? What colour are the plug electrodes? Skye -
Is there supposed to be anything holding down the plastic cam splash cover, thats under the valve cover? Nothing on mine, seems like it would rattle around (and I am having rattling problems at certain RPM ranges - which are at a constant frequency - so its not a moving part) I thought maybe the valve cover would kind of hold it down by squishing it when I torqued it back on but I can poke it through the oil filler hole and it is definately moving around Skye
-
I agree start with the simple cheap MAINTENANCE items that should be replaced every few years - spark plugs, dist cap and rotor, plug wires, air filter, fuel filter. As you are pulling the spark plugs you should see a nice tan colour with no large deposits on the old plugs. Skye
-
Don't see why not! I've made my own gaskets before, in a pinch. But its usually less hassle to just buy them. If its an odd/custom job though you have to make it. You can get big square sheets of assorted gasket material for pretty cheap. Cardboard would probably work best in cool areas as its flammable, and where there are no fluids involved Skye
-
Might also just be the voltage regulator, which is a small unit on the back of the alternator (includes brushes and regulator) and can be changed seprately Skye

I'm getting a Jetex catback for my G60 soon.... very highly regarded... Skye
