  1. Great question! I don't know where I got the original desire to own one from, but for years and years I wanted one before I could actually afford one. I think they have a certain charm and style which isn't found in too many other cars. Nor is it about being the quickest, smoothest, most economical, best handling, best driving position, best build quality, (best windscreen wipers, best headlights) or the best looking - as you have said, there are many others which would rate higher in these and other categories. In my eyes it has to be a combination of all these things. I also like that they are pretty rare and there is definitely a part of me which likes that they were designed before various safety regulations came in which mean that so many modern cars look committee-designed (regardless of how I feel about lack of safety features such as airbags). Couple the above with media approval, limited supply (given the volume manufactured, never mind the number left), and their current value and I think you have a pretty heady mix. Add in a great forum, a lovely owners' club and some cracking shows and we have a winner! I can understand why these cars get under our skin so much and why so many regret leaving the fold and eventually come back. Right, I'll stop rabbiting on now... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. my C is currently at a bodyshop having it's first ever paint work done in my ownership. However, I have very little experience and knowledge of paint work so was wondering if there any tips or gems of advice that anyone could offer before I collect it in the next few days. It's had the rust around the windscreen aperture treated, and I've only had the A-pillars painted and it blended across the roof, as I hope to have the car resprayed in the next couple of years. Obviously I'll be checking for a good colour match and no orange peel, but is there anything else I should look out for or any tricks to help spot paint defects, please? Presumably it is better to check under the shop lights as well as natural light. Any advice greatly appreciated :)
  3. Sad to hear that you're now Corrado-less, Laura, but hope the house buying goes well and that you're able to buy another soon :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Saw a blackberry C going clockwise on M25 nr J15 about 12.30pm on Sunday. Reg might begin N611 - I wasn't driving but I didn't see you for long Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Spotted a blackberry vr M***HTD in Red Lion car park in Basingstoke at around 8pm yesterday. A bit grubby but looked like a nice one :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Sounds like a good meet! Nice write up and good pics too :) Really would have liked to have been there, but the touring cars were calling, and my C is at the bodyshop anyway. Will be keeping an eye out for the next one though :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I'm after the best set I can find, so what is the condition like please Stone and Owen? Also, what prices please (inc postage)? Keen to buy ASAP. Thank you :) I do have a spare set (so 2 out of 3 might not be a problem), but I'm hoping to find a better set and then sell what I have left over. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. thanks Kip, in that case I'll speak to the bodyshop tomorrow and see if they managed to remove them without breaking them. I just seem to remember them being rather well stuck down when I tried to replace the foliage cover seal and fit a pollen filter. I know the windscreen was replaced just a few weeks before I bought the car, so I wondered if they broke the clips and just glued the whole lot down. Is that likely do you think? I bought new clips in preparation of doing the seal and filter but didn't use them in the end. Just need to find them now...!
  10. thanks Tony. Yes, that is one of the pieces I need. I hadn't even thought of looking on ebay. Stupid really.
  11. thanks Kirade, but those aren't the trims I'm after. I have those ones already; it's the three plastic trims along the bottom that I'm looking for.

Kip, how could you?!! ...and when Jude is driving too, so she can't defend herself. That's very sneaky!
  13. I'm looking for a set of the three bottom windscreen trims as I'm having the windscreen replaced on my C at the moment, and I think the current set has been bonded to the screen. I would like a set in vgc with no cracks or chunks missing. As the car is at the bodyshop at the moment, I would like a set very soon, so would hope someone could post them to me asap. Can anyone help me please?

  15. I adore mk1s and at some point I will own a Cabby. I have a massive soft spot for them and I have a feeling my next car purchase will be a Cabby. It almost was last November when I found a rather nice looking one but when I phoned about it, it had already gone :( I suppose that was a good thing as 3 cars may be a little excessive for just me. 16. Ah, I was thinking of the support straps! I think I have a spare set of these already! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  24. Had all the bodywork issues checked out by a bodyshop to be told it's a lovely car and one that has obviously been cared for (not always true but there has been a bit of effort over the years) :D He even commented on the clean wheel arches when he checked them for signs of damage/rust! I was worried about all the rust at the back but was told that everything can be sorted and that it's in much better nick than the C he painted a few months ago! Time to start saving then! 25. my windscreen cracked a few days ago so I'll be having a new one fitted v soon. I can't travel far with it given the state it's in (plus the MOT ran out on the same day  ) but I think I have found a good fitter nr Basingstoke so, comparatively, not too far away for you. I know that a VW dealership use them if they damage any glass and they have also been recommended to me by a friend who always has his glass work done there. At the moment I'm unsure if I can use them (they aren't on my insurer's list unfortunately) but if I do, I'll let you know what their work is like, if you're interested? First impressions are very good - I popped up there on thursday and chatted to them for ages and they were really helpful. When I voiced my concerns about bad fitting etc. and that I'm really keen to get a good job done, they were very reassuring and seemed genuinely interested in helping me out. They'd even had a recent tidy up and found a brand new, unopened set of the rigid side strips and the main windscreen seal which I bought for £20. I've heard that just one of the rigid side strips is £90...
