Bournemouth/Poole Meet Saturday 20th April
scarlet_vr6 replied to Rams's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Thanks everyone for a great day and extra thanks to Rams for organising it. Especially loved the convoy... it's great to see rados in front and in the mirrors, particularly on such a sunny day. Definitely one of those 8) moments! Think the bbq idea is a great one for next time, but I'm also voting for another little jaunt along some New Forest roads! I've added my better photos to my flickr photostream. Also got a couple of mini chufties when I stopped for V-Power. I spotted a mk1 Cabriolet with it's bonnet up, so I said to the owner that I hoped there was nothing seriously wrong with it and that I want a cabby as my next car. He looked at my rado and told me not to bother! (I won't be selling the C to make way for a mk1 anyway, but I can't justify 3 cars at the moment.) Then I went in to pay and the guy working there said 'glad to see someone putting proper stuff into a decent motor'! Turns out he owns a mk1 Polo. Can't be many of those left! -
Welcome to the forum. Sounds like this one has found a good owner - you seem to be making great progress already! Shame about your Passat (I can well believe the mileage as there is a 99 Passat in my family which isn't far off 230k!) but glad to hear you're making good use of the money. Look forward to seeing how you get on!

Bournemouth/Poole Meet Saturday 20th April

room for another? -
I've had my rado for nearly 8 years and I still remember picking it up and my first drive in it. Hope you enjoy every moment like I did! Also hope you're going to put some pics of it up soon. Great colour choice by the way!

Thanks everyone! Fret not, my chin is up and I've spent an enjoyable few hours in the sunshine this week, washing the outside (annoyingly I seem to have lost my clay and wax) and giving the interior a thorough clean. In fact I'm so pleased with him at the moment that I think I'll go for a drive...

Thank you very much but the photographer did a good job! The closer you get to the car, the less impressive it is! It'll have a respray one day... Glad to hear that you're feeling inspired to give it a bit of TLC. If you decide to, be sure to start a thread in the member's gallery so we can all see your progress!

£250 well and truly done and nearly at £300 now. I'm sure Chris' knowledge will continue to be of great help to others when searching for answers in previous threads. -
I'm always sorry to hear stories like this. I don't have any of the parts you need but very best of luck repairing all the damage.

It's been quite some time since I've even looked at my thread, never mind updated it, so it's about time I did. Can't believe I missed the updates from Oz and Matt too! Both seem to have made great purchases in this time! The reason for such a long absence is my rado was off the road for the majority of last year. I took it to Wheels Day in Aldershot on Good Friday last year but when I returned to my car in the afternoon, the windscreen had cracked. I took it to a bodyshop which had been recommended to me but unfortunately I don't have such a good story to tell. Since the windscreen was being replaced under insurance, I decided to take the opportunity of having a couple of small areas of rust removed from the bottom of each A-pillar. On the morning I was due to collect it, I phoned them to make sure all was well but they informed me there was a problem with the alarm system. They told me an alarm specialist had already looked at it and they also told me they had spiked the alarm control unit (my mechanic friend said they would have done this by welding the patches in place with the battery still connected...). They had also already ordered a new control unit. I waited a few days and they then told me that the part didn't exist as there had been an error on the company's stock control system. No other control unit could be found so I said that the system would have to be replaced and at their cost since they broke it. Suddenly it was no longer their fault and they wanted me to pay for it. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed. Arguments ensued and we eventually came to an arrangement so the installation was booked. Andy from Trimwizard was extremely helpful in advising me which me system to go for and did a marvellous job of installing it, including tidying up existing wiring. He is highly recommended by me. Unfortunately the saga continued. Having completed the fitting, Andy tested it and when he turned the engine over, the bottom of the radiator gave in and so my car spat coolant everywhere. At this point, I was wondering if I was ever going to drive it again!! By the time all this was sorted, it was September and the MOT had expired. Once I got that magic sheet of A4, I was happy and the first drive was fantastic, but no, this wasn't the end either. The car had 2 new Continentals on the rear. They had covered less than 2500 miles when I discovered that the inner tyre wall of one had split all the way round. I knew the handling was off but couldn't find any issues on the outer tyre wall or the tread of any of my tyres, so perhaps naively, I thought it was just the tracking that was out. The tyre company refused to replace the tyre saying it's my fault so the tyre has gone back to Continental for their verdict. I had to buy a new tyre in the meantime and I'm still awaiting a reply from Conti. The car has now been back on the road for a couple of months and has developed some kind of clutch issue. If I hadn't been well and truly bitten by the Corrado bug, I may have given up on it by now, but this isn't nearly enough to deter me, so here's to happy motoring and good shows with clement weather for us all this year!! :D

Blackberry VR6 Turbo 4WD- now for sale £7,800
scarlet_vr6 replied to jaded2882's topic in Members Gallery
Haven't looked at my thread for months and I've barely been on the forum since June, so I completely missed the news that you have bought this car!! Congratulations Matt! What a purchase! I know Isla had been telling you to buy a blackberry and what a blackberry to choose! Oz took me out in this car at the Air Balloon meet a couple of years ago and I've never forgotten it. Incredible car! Looks great in the recent photo shoot too. Particularly like the whole side view pic and also the three-quarter view with other cars in the background. Read this whole thread and I'm sorry to hear about the gearbox woes but an ideal excuse to get the 6-speed box and Quaife in it! I laughed at your comment about trying to change into 6th in other cars... I do that when I change from my rado to my Jetta so I can imagine how easy it must be when you change cars! Congratulations again. Not at all jealous!! Will you be going to any shows this year? -
I always use V-Power so that's great news! Thanks for the info :)
-
Very best of luck Jude! I'll be cheering for you from my sofa!!

A sad loss indeed. RIP Chris -
Thanks for all the above advice. I've been thinking about this for quite some time now and have decided not to buy a MacBook. Much as I'd like one for the speed and convenience, I've decided to be sensible and not spend so much. I don't have any income at the moment so I think it's wise. I can always buy a MacBook in a year or two... I've looked at so many different laptops now, comparing specs, pro reviews and user reviews that I'm finding it difficult to make a decision. I'm just wasting time now I think, so it's time to make a purchase. Think I'm going to buy an Acer Aspire as they seem to have a good spec and reviews for the price, and I don't mind that they are a bit bulkier than others. Thanks again for all your comments :)

I feel the same... I have a lot of free time at the moment and want to give the car a spring clean but it doesn't stop raining for more than about 10 minutes. I'm sure the sun will reappear the moment I start working again!

Welcome to you both! I'm sure you'll find this a very friendly and helpful forum. Lovely looking Corrado and the cabby is beautiful too. I'd love to own a cabby one day.

Lovely rado Sanky and great progress too!
