Immobiliser problem – any advice appreciated

thanks, I will look up Akira at some point. I still have a video player so I might be able to pick up a bargain from ebay! Let me know what you think of Appleseed when you see it. Both were originally written by Masamune Shirow so I hope that means you'll enjoy it. A lot of the names in Appleseed are from ancient mythology and they've been chosen well to fit the person/AI/building. I'm very interested in mythology so that added a little extra for me, although it doesn't particularly affect the storyline and there were a couple of names I didn't know so I learnt something when I looked them up too :)

Immobiliser problem – any advice appreciated
scarlet_vr6 replied to scarlet_vr6's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
thank you so much for the replies everyone! :D I've read all the threads I can find about it (that first one you posted looks like a winner, Jim!) and spoken to the garage again so tomorrow they are going to run through some of these quicker and cheaper fixes if they haven't done them already. Really hope one of them sorts it out! I've also spoken to VW and total price for supplying and fitting a new immobiliser control unit, a new key (2 weeks from Germany) and recoding both keys is £307.58 -
yes, could just be generic but the film is from 1995 so the right era and it looks like it has that lovely curve from bonnet to boot. I'm going to go with it being a C, mostly cos I want it to be! Metallix, I haven't seen the original Appleseed, just the recent one but I like the opening with 'Good Luck' too :)

I’ve got to make a decision and I have no idea what to do… any advice on the below will be very gratefully received! My C broke down recently (fired but wouldn’t stay running) and it turns out it’s a problem with the dealer fitted immobiliser. Andy at Trim Wizard who fitted a new Cobra alarm and immobiliser to the car last summer has been brilliant and spoken to my garage and given them info so the new system can be ruled out, and so it’s been confirmed that it’s the old one at fault. My choice is this… go to VW and buy a new immobiliser control unit (£130+VAT) and then VW have to program it. I expect this will cost a fortune esp since I only have one key which apparently complicates things. The other option is for my garage to send the ECU (apparently the main one and not the immobiliser one) away and get it reprogrammed to bypass the old immobiliser (~£230 inc. VAT). I’m covered under insurance as the new Cobra system is cat 1 and therefore has an immobiliser fitted. I’ve confirmed that I won’t lose my map if I get the ECU reprogrammed. Thoughts anyone?

anyone watched Ghost in the Shell? I watched the original film tonight and really enjoyed it. I can see where the idea for The Matrix came from... I'm very new to watching anime but I love Appleseed - think it's awesome! Anyway, the main reason for this post was to see if anyone has seen GITS and wondered like me, if that's supposed to be a Corrado that Bateau drives towards the end of the film? It can be seen really clearly at exactly 1hr and there's another reasonable shot of it at 1.02.24... Is it just wishful thinking on my part after not having my car on the road for the best part of a year?

welcome to the forum and good luck in your search for a VR, Monty. Nice mk2 as well. Was that ever a Polo colour? Looks very similar to my first car... If there is a Surrey meet at some point, then I'd come along too. Not too soon though please as both my cars broke down on the same day last week :epicfail:

this happened to mine at the beginning of April last year, although very near the bottom of the screen not the top. I was told that it was likely to be caused by a combination of pressure from a small amount of rust on the A-pillars, plus the frost we'd had that morning followed a very sunny day. Had mine sorted under my insurance and got the pillars sorted whilst the screen was out. Just a shame the bodyshop spiked the alarm control unit whilst repairing it...

Monthly Corrado Meet - Northampton - Tues 12th Feb
scarlet_vr6 replied to Wendy's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
this one's a bit far for me. Wouldn't have made it anyway... both my cars are broken :( -
Thanks Jim, that's really kind :) I've checked train prices and I'm going to give it a miss cos I've spent a bit too much on Christmas presents but I'm determined to make it to a meet in the new year. I'd also promised to watch a rugby match with my dad which I'd completely forgotten about! Hope you all have a good day!

really interesting thread. Avg age on here is def higher than I thought! I'm 33 and have owned my one and only C for a little over 7 yrs and a very happy 60k covered in that time. Still makes me smile as much as the day I collected it. It'll have to be a very good reason indeed to make me sell. Also getting really rather attached to my Jetta GTI which I bought so the rado could become a weekend toy but now don't want to sell that one either

My mum spotted a blue M reg which turned off the A339 towards Kingsclere yesterday afternoon, about 5.30pm I think Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
