  1. Congratulations on getting a VR after such a long wait, and what a cracker you have bought! I'm sure you'll have many happy hours owning this car :)
  2. Very sad news Bill :( Beautiful car in the best colour. Hope you get an easy sale.
  3. ah no Kip, glad it isn't anything serious but hope you get it all sorted soon :( Must have a proper look at your thread soon and see the pics of the newbie! How long before it's collecting trophies too? :D Go on do it Chris, get another! You had done so much good stuff to that car, it would be such a shame not to! ...and thanks, it really was a great day so I'm pleased to have some good photos to help remember it :)
  4. (Mystic?) blue C on M3 northbound around 9am on Sat 31st. Think we were near Winchester, but I was a passenger and not paying attn!
  5. thanks for the nice comments everyone :D The track day really was great fun! Can't wait for the next one... Thanks so much for pointing this out Kip, unfortunately I just can’t afford it at the moment so I will have to pass and hopefully get the bonnet painted another time. It was really kind of you to offer to help, so thank you for that :salute:
  6. great to see Mincy back on the road 8) Sounds great in that video :D
  7. Having loved being on track last year at Castle Combe, I just couldn’t miss out this year :D So once again, I went out on track in the morning with other CCGB members and then in the afternoon with an instructor. Both sessions were fantastic and even better than last year! I had been looking forward to this for months, especially since I have had all that suspension and handling work done as well as the remap. (Thanks again to Dave and Graham for this  ) The car handled beautifully – I really am so pleased with my C at the moment and can’t wait to go on track again! I want to learn to be a better driver so I plan to do some more instructor sessions soon. The whole day was brilliant but seemed to go very quickly and I didn’t get round to taking any photos or watching any of the other sessions. It was great catching up with old friends and meeting new people – thoroughly enjoyed myself :) The pics I have from the day are either ones I bought from the official photographer or were sent to me by friends (thank you!). There are lots I really like so here are quite a few of them 8) Corrado92.pdfresized Castle Combe 24-07-10 from Dave 2.jpg[/attachment:9paejxwg] stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfcropped Castle Combe 24-07-10 from Dave.jpg[/attachment:9paejxwg] ETKA Corrado.pdfcropped Castle Combe 24-07-10 from Dave 3.jpg[/attachment:9paejxwg] passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfresized vwaudi240710 345.jpg[/attachment:9paejxwg] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfresized vwaudi240710 1163.jpg[/attachment:9paejxwg] This is my favourite from the day (and probably my favourite picture of my C :luvlove: ) 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfresized vwaudi240710 1164.jpg[/attachment:9paejxwg] ...and a friend photoshopped it - I think it’s pretty cool :shades: resized fay001.jpg[/attachment:9paejxwg]
  8. good work Laura! Not long til August... :D
  9. even if it was beyond saving, it's still very sad to see
  10. dark (black?) C on M3 nr jct 4 about 8.20pm yesterday, L*** TTU
  11. looks really good! I especially like the light down the side of your car in the 2nd pic 8)
  12. L reg Aqua Blue(?) on the A34 northbound nr Abingdon about 6.30pm yesterday. Didn't spot you til last minute as I was a passenger and not paying much attn so no more details
  13. Blackberry VR6 N*** HTD spotted by my Mum in Lychpit, Basingstoke yesterday morning. I've never seen another Blackberry in Basingstoke...
  14. Amazingstoke is as wonderful as ever lol! I haven't been to Reading for a couple of years now I reckon but funnily enough I'm popping up there tomorrow night... another excuse to take the C out for a drive 8)
  15. thank you all :D The shed comment refers to the rather alarming rust issue, the dent in the wing which was done when the car was parked and the huge white patch on the bonnet which I think is a result of someone pouring something like paint thinner on it :censored: Judith is right though, everyone knows all the flaws in their own car but all I really meant is that mine isn't the nicest looking C around here! I keep meaning to spend some money on the bodywork but at the moment I'm keen to keep improving the drive of it... brakes and maybe gearbox are the next big things on the list, I reckon. VRSICK - to clean the door shuts I used a few different bits and pieces... Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner def came into play first, followed by using a clay bar, then carefully washing with car shampoo and rinsing even more carefully! I used an old toothbrush to clean the metal parts and also some cocktail sticks so lots of high tech, specialist equipment  I finished by using Meguiars Last Touch (quick detailer), polish and wax. Pretty much the same method was used for the boot, wheel arches and filler neck area (make sure you block the neck before removing the rubber surround) but it all needs doing again now lol. It's quite fiddly work (having small hands helps!) but it's satisfying being able to see such a difference after only a couple of hours of work :)
  16. well, my poor C has been somewhat neglected recently :( He is being used as a daily again at the mo and certainly needs a good wash. However he has just had a bit of attention paid to him... not by me though! After BVF, I drove to DG so Dave and Graham could have another look at the gearbox (and I’ve finally made my mind up about that,) but whilst Bosun was there, he was remapped and what a difference! I am absolutely delighted with it 8) Dave was kind enough to show me (and explain in simple terms!) the tables for idle, low, high and wide open throttle. It was fascinating and by comparing the before and after tables, I could see where all the peaks and troughs have been smoothed out. The result, aside from another huge grin  is a much smoother drive and performance has been improved at low revs and through the mid range. Dave explained that he hasn’t changed much at high revs for 2 main reasons iirc – one is that the values were already quite high but it’s also due to the high mileage on the engine (over 160k now). I hope I’ve got all that right, but if not someone (Dave?) can correct me! I’m so impressed with it :D Having no experience of remaps, I hadn’t realised how much they can improve a naturally aspirated engine; accelerating doesn’t seem to require as much effort now and the slightly lumpy gear change (which I always thought was my bad driving lol) has been sorted out completely – it’s all so much smoother now. So far fuel consumption hasn’t been quite so good but it isn’t a fair test because I know I’ve been driving just a little bit harder... it's great fun! With all the recent suspension and steering rack work and now this remap, I’m itching to get the car on track! Roll on 24th July for the Autometrix day. Just hope I don’t stack it..... :pale: As ever, if anyone nearby or who I see at shows wants to use mine as a try before you buy, please just ask - I know he's a shed to look at, but I think he's beautiful to drive :luvlove:
  17. gave a thumbs up to the owner of Classic Green M***OHH, who was chatting to the owner of a matt black Caddy in a layby nr my house in Basingstoke. I got a very confused look and a wave back so if you're on here, no you don't know me and I was just admiring your car  Prob wasn't helped by being with my Dad in his Passat...
  18. Green C on A34 southbound, just past West Ilsley turn-off on Sat about 3.45pm. I waved but saw you at the last moment so have no idea if you waved back... Also spotted a red C on A449(I think that's right - near the A450 junction) on the way to DG after BVF yesterday. Despite there being a line of 3 Cs going in the other direction, you didn't seem to notice us :(
  19. N***SPK on M3 about 7.45pm last night. I slowed down as I turned off at J11 and gave a thumbs up and got a 'look' from your passenger  I was in the Jetta, maybe that is what confused him!
  20. N***GPW (twilight violet?) overtook me in the super-fast hire van I was in on Sunday. Saw it on the M3 southbound nr Winchester Svcs about 2.30pm. Looked beautiful - lowered, smoked rears and the sun gleaming off the paintwork :D Wondering if it's the C which lives in Hook?
  21. I wasn't overly impressed with them as they obviously hadn't done any quality checking before I turned up to collect mine - there was something baked into the lacquer. They sorted that FOC of course but it made me ultra picky about the rest of them and they did 3 out of the 4 again. Annoying though because for me it's a 100 mile round trip, so to remedy that they delivered the wheels for no cost back to my work. I've heard plenty of good things about them (which is why I went there in the first place) and so I reckon I was unlucky, however I was pleased with the way they sorted out the mistake.
  22. went for dinner to a good country pub last night and could see a couple of people wandering round with torches near where I had parked. Turns out they had just come back from a bike ride and were admiring my C. The light can't have been that good though because they said what good condition my C is in
  23. 8) lovely pic - great wheels, a top colour and a sunroof which still slides! surely this is banner worthy?
  24. Not a worry I've had that on different days from a chap on foot and a bloke in a very sorted looking shiney Ralley 8) , both at my local Halfrauds as i've been about to leave. I'm so unused to it i wondered what was up! I thought the Ralley wanted my parking spot at first!!!   I've got similar thumbs up etc from Mk1/2 Golfs etc in the past which is lovely but I just meant that they might not have seen me. I was only a passenger and so I couldn't beep or flash the lights either :(
  25. love the last shot :) Your C looks great
