(needed again) Anyone got contact details for user "dukest"?
The_Dude replied to Funkster's topic in General Car Chat
Olly, I think its till the end of the week, but don't quote me on that one! I will stick up for him tho and say he is a decent chap, I'm sure whatever issue you have will be resolved when he gets back. -

He's away in America at the moment which may be why he's not answering. If its desperately urgent I can text him, though I can't see what he can do till he gets back. -
Black H reg with smoked crystal rears and big @ss bodykit coming out of Sainsbury's carpark in Crystal Palace at midday.

Ok mate, I've just gone back onto Speedlines too.

They're not too bad in London...obviously what wheels you are running also will affect the crashiness. I've never had a complaint with them round town, they have kept up with a 911 hoofing round the Wandsworth 1-way system, but in the faster corners - 60 and above I find they induce a bit more body roll than I'd like. Overall, they are a great medium priced set of coillies. You live quite near me don't you Danny B? (crystal palace) If you want to take mine for a test run round my way you're quite welcome.

Dry, 100ish...where the A23 London Road N meets the M23, it was a long left hander and every time i pressed the go pedal harder I'd drift out further.

Indeed. The 4 pots only have an 18mm front ARB to begin with, and it's drop links only anchor 3/4 along the wishbone. The VR has a 20mm front ARB as standard and the drop links anchor right at the end of the wishbone, so in effect, the wider ARB 'footprint' with a thicker bar will have the same effect as a thicker one pressing down more inboard. I'm sure I've typed that already somewhere else? Still, it's worth experimenting with the front ARB as some people like a bit of US action :D Not me, was accelerating hard coming onto the m23 last night and i just kept getting pushed further to the outside. Luckily there was no traffic to crash into as i wandered accross two lanes. though that could be more to do with my tracking being out and lack of decent diff. OK, well I'll start with just a 25 rear then, problem is, my front arb bushes are pretty much shot and i don't wanna have to buy new ones only to replace them a few weeks later.
-
i'm running things so will need to get them replaced before i fit my arb's. i think i'm gonna take simon's advice and go for a 25mm back and 22mm front. will report back in a month or two once i've fitted them and had a bit of a hoon.

fix and sell an auto cheaply as is, or convert to manual?
The_Dude replied to dukest's topic in General Car Chat
I hear changing the door for a more rusty one usually helps too! :) tbh John, I think you'd struggle to sell as is, it would cost a bundle to repair, and the conversion would make it more attractive, but a lot of effort for not much more cash. its your choice buddy, but you know how much VRs have been going for recently, plus how long it takes too... break it! sell me the door! -
You shall have the first copy of "The Fist and the Furriest"

Nope! Too many speedbumps and multi-storeys have taken their toll and once I saw it was completely fekked there was no remorse! It was so ridiculously low I grounded out just going down a bumpy road. Bit silly but it looked mean as nails. I've also got a new 50mm one waiting to go on so its all tickety-boo.
-
Back onto Speeds for a bit, I really need cash atm so the Monos are going up for sell....BOO! :( I've also raised the ride height by about 4 turns, didn't measure how much of a rise as I forgot before but its now 280mm to the top of the centre cap. Seemed to be easier and more accurate than going to the floor. In real terms this means I can now go over speedbumps again! Woohoo!!!! Plus more grip as they're on brand new ContiPremContact 2. :luvlove: All goes well, except she is getting very hot in traffic, nothing too high thank god and hopefully a bit more clearance should let a bit more air in and out. She had a good thrashing to Salisbury and back and the only time I was overtaken was by an M5. Which counts as a good journey in my books. Ride height sorted again, however its too late for the splitter. Or should that be splatter?

Swompy's Ice grey violet. Now gone to a new home
The_Dude replied to Swompy's topic in Members Gallery
There's a thread somewhere about the wipers, you need the arms and blades, but you buy only one side twice. I forget which. I got mine from the stealers. A guy called KUR2Y (?) does the looms. Really good and easy peasy to install. -
He wasn't even in a good band either. Nevermind is quite a good album, but all the others are complete rubbish! Wullie, I enjoy a bit of Montagues and Capulets by Prokofiev and Mussorgsky's Night On A Bare Mountain for a classical thrash. Not too much of a Mozart fan, but you can't beat old JSB. And its not an age thing, I got into classical in my early 20s (i'm 30 now) and also like heavy metal! :D I'm also liking Head Shoulders Knees Toez by KIG...is that wrong?
