Didnt do it myself but my mk2 golf had a scaffold pole at the front of the exhaust. It was mucho heavy but I bet it would outlast the car.

They felt lovely to sit in but not a great comparison with the standards as the springs were less than useless after so many years and arses. Very comfy and im trying to work out how to wire up the heating. Do I have TT wiring to a corrado switch or corrado wiring to tt plugs. I bet there is someone around who would go easy peasy. Bit of this, bit of that. Job done. Also I have retained the TT hieght adjustment which is perfect when the misses feels the need for speed.

Stuck a chrome vw word badge on the back of my golf with proper, superstrong trim tape from halfords. Was not very thick and took some trimming to make it fit and look good. Put up with heat and cold really well. I swear you could have pulled the car along by the badge!

All you have to do is look at auto to manual performance figures of any car excluding the most up-to-date dsc tiptronic stuff. Manual is always significantly faster and could even win with a bad gear change.

An RS4 made my VR6 look like it was standing still...
12 DEG BEN replied to DEL VR6's topic in General Car Chat
My local audi had a invite only drive our range day. My old man gave me his invite as I brokered his audi buy. They let me have an rs6 for half an hour on my own. Fast does NOT cover it and no drama at any speed. Hard to drive in a car park though. Auto, and on tick over is slow but ok but touch the throttle to do any move and the thing just wants to go really quickly right now. It picks up speed from three figures like a vr from 30. -
I think the auto has 4 cogs making it slower aswell as suffering from power loss. And all manual corrado drivers are distantly related to the stig!

I have done the TT seat swap and they look perfect for the car. Not too angular, not too rounded, not over the top. I think what makes them suit the car is the head restraints match the rear seat bumps. Makes it look like it belongs there. Just wish the rears fitted at all. Chances are you have to buy a whole interior to get hinging front seats as TT convertibles are fixed I think. Will try to get pictures.

schrick 248s or 268s the differance and part numbers!!!!
12 DEG BEN replied to malaki's topic in Engine Bay
I asked this question when I was selling my 268s. The part number on the cam does not indicate its type as I believe schrick make them from origional untouched cam blanks. Not regrounds. You can find out what they are by the numbers stamped on the locking end of them. Mine were hard to make out but were there. I know the last bit of info is accurate if they are genuine. -
VR to come out, leave gearbox in place? (or vice versa?)
12 DEG BEN replied to Funkster's topic in Engine Bay
When I removed the vr gearbox in the car the front mounting bracket has to come off because it fixes to the block and the gearbox. You are also going to have to move the block slightly to get the diff through a small gap between engine and subframe I found. I does fall out the bottom of the car. Then you have to get it out from under it also. Nothings easy is it -
VR to come out, leave gearbox in place? (or vice versa?)
12 DEG BEN replied to Funkster's topic in Engine Bay
I have taken the gearbox off with the engine in situ for a clutch change. Easy enough if the engine is well supported. Hard job is getting the thing back in lined up correctly. Its not the lightest object in the world and you need to hold it to be able to wiggle the gearbox shaft into the clutch. Much easier on a ramp but try it on the ground. some workout for the arms! -
Just happy to help. More happiness that royal snail got the job done quickly and no probs sending early. Have not been burnt on any dealings here, both buying and selling. I also hate waiting for stuff like everyone else.

Mines and S, 1461. Very interesting to know. Figured the chassis no was a bit more random but then again those germans.

If you got rid of your C what modern car would you have?
12 DEG BEN replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
I would have to go for the alfa romeo gt 3.2 as it looks like nothing else like the corrado does and the noise is to die for. Audi TT is a damaged car for me because the people that buy them are "different" mostly. Its a wine bar thing I think. Same goes for the M3. So common and to me common never equals special. Plus I twat once told me there are two types of car. Sharks and dolphins. He was a bmw shark man. Attitude Like that indicates bad things to me. Besides im sure sharks would use indicators like "im gonna eat you when I show my teeth". -
I had a vr in a mk2 and the problem I discovered was the expansion tank I used was too small. It was round rather than a vr's which is more egg shaped. Didnt know that till later. Anyway when I used it hard the expansion tank would cough out water when I turned it off, Unknown to me and then I would check It later on the volume would be down. Sorted with a bigger tank. Also the hoses felt harder with a smaller tank. maybe more pressure caused by the small tank.

Not big on the AA. My audi A2 spat all its oil out. Told the AA its unfixable at the road side. Bloke turns up and agrees. "dont worry mate, I will sort a tow truck for you". Then leaves and marks the job as fixed at the roadside. Tow truck cancelled. Good job. Got audi to collect me. On another occasion I ran over a rock in the road and split a fuel hose on a polo gti out in the country. Sent a third party to agree with me again about being unfixable. This guy sat there having a fag stood in a pool of my petrol. Not happy risking torching my 3 month old car. Now keep the rock in the garden. Still smells of petrol and cannot hurt any other vws.

I have a spare abs module that I picked up with a loom for a mk2 conversion. Tried it on my car and seems to work fine. Its a E version off a 94 vr6. drop me a pm.

Thanks for the response. looking at the picture Im worried about the rim being a bit on the thin side. Kinda like the meaty fat rim on the standard. Do different models have different standard wheels? some cars are grand tourers, some are racers!
-
I have still got to get round to the windscreen romoval. Also got a set of hella spots to get shot of and stuff. Tinted front windows?
-
If you could give me a dimension of the wheel that would be great. Too the very outer most edge please.
-
Ah, paying for the roads that you have already paid for! Surely my road tax should go down as I never use central london? Its all give and take isnt it. but no, its take and take.
-
just a nip on a wheel thats been done once already. Really bothers me bunging a new tire though.
-
Short story. Clipped my doorstep moving my car today. The slab bit the toyo wall taking an inch or so of rubber out and nicking the rim. The tires a week old. So angry and stupid at the same time. This new one replaced the other semi new one that got a broken drill bit in it. Thats my luck right now. I know theres a section in here about things going bad but couldnt find it in a hurry. Story over.

Did anyone look at it like this. The modus crumpled as it should do but it was demonstrated that it cut through the volvo and used that cars crumple to absorb the impact. I would like to see it hit a modern car which statistically Its more likely to hit. A focus or such would attempt to cut its way into the modus. Just a thought. Either way, I have moved my seat as far from the danger end as possible!
