How about a bit of thread revival? As a bit of a birthday treat from my dad he let me borrow his bike for the day yesterday (VFR800 same as wazza) and it's the first time I've ridden for more than 10mins in about 18months, and I loved it! :luvlove: Forgot how much fun it is and it's put terrible thoughts of getting another bike in the summer, quite fancy the Daytona 675 or GSX-750R... How many others are new to or thinking of returning to biking?

Sounds more like a glutton for punishment if you ask me! Looks very good mate, loved my previous mk2's.

100% agree, works perfect in my eyes but I've got the same problem as mikehiow in that mine is all scuffed on top, anyone had one retrimmed??

Chassis is better and the Corrado isn't shaped like a brick -
F$%king hell Rob, bad luck mate but at least it doesn't sound like there is too much damage and (like people have said) because it was the other persons fault you're well within your rights to demand the car is fixed to pre-damage standards. Not something you want to be dealing with when you've got a R32 to fit as well! Mic

I'm not sure that's fair Kev, sometimes it can take literally minutes to change a set of wheels. Plus there is all the time spent checking what everyone else has got so you can get the same ones, and then obviously you've got to get a wheel-whores sticker and place it at a jaunty angle on one of your wings. Honestly, some people just don't know what it takes! :nono:  Seriously though, there are some stunning cars out there and some do make it into the likes of PVW and Golf+ etc but mostly the good stuff is all drowned out by the rest of the chaff. And I don't know who owned it before but that mk5 GTi that is now owned by one of the PVW staff members (the one who used to have that Black bora I think) which has the dark red wheels and a tartan front end actually made me laugh out loud. Check it our in 'Our Rides' section.

That gearbox is a beauty, where the hell would you get one of those from? I'm thinking of fitting a FWD 02M 6-speed box to mine when I do the turbo conversion, but it requires slight modification of either the chassis legs or the front subframe. This looks like a far better solution. 8) Nice one chap.

Must say the brown one was my fav as well, and both cars look awesome. I'm just not sure on the air ride. The Vento and Harlequin both look awesome as well. Good issue this month. As for my air ride experience, I've got a mate who's got it in his B5 Passat and it is great to witness and the ride comfort is absolutely outstanding. But he's the first to admit the overall handling is somewhat compromised compared to the standard setup it had when he bought it. Granted, I've never been in it when he's been driving it in anger so I'm not sure just how it feels. Maybe I'll get he to take me out for a spin before writing it off completely. Although the other side of me says, if it's better than a spring/shock setup then why don't and race cars run it? :?

Still fairly rare in this country I think. I like the look of those two, but I bet they handle like f*ck all on earth... I'll have to make mine different somehow, mine will definitely handle but I'm thinking some form of suitable whippy aerial, a bright pink roll cage and actually raise the ride height...... that should put me the step ahead! Actually bought a copy of PVW yesterday, I'm not 100% on either of them tbh...... air ride is for homo's and scene queens so what's the funking point having a 500bhp road scraper that will be out handled by my mums Toyota Yaris? Just my opinion obviously, and I like a lot of what they've done but ultimately a corrado is a sports coupe and needs to be driven as such.

I might have a spare starter motor lying around in the shed I might be able to send to you mate? I assume they are all the same across the range???

Ooooh a tough one, but here goes 1. 1955 Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing 2. Aston Martin DB5 3. VW Notchback 4. 1968 Dodge Charger R/T with 426 Hemi V8 5. Ariel Atom 300 S/C 6. Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 7. Aston Martin V8 Vantage (new model) 8. Original Lotus 7 9. VW Corrado VRT (watch this space) 10. 1965 VW Split Screen 23 window samba No particular order, other than the Gullwing. If I won the lottery that would be the first thing I bought, in silver with red leather interior.

They both American cars? Looks like I'll need to raise my game if I want to get mine in there next year!

I'd say it's a pretty safe bet it came from Osnabrück in Germany......... sorry, I'll get my coat! Lovely looking motor mate.

Sorry but I don't know much about the G60, but all I will say is if it's fuel economy that's putting you off the general feeling from other threads is that pretty much all the Corrado's are level on mpg. You'd be looking at around 33mpg for VR6, 34-35mpg for G60/16V, and maybe 37-40mpg for an 8V. But this is completely down to how they are driven. I rarely get 27-29mpg out of my VR these days but just recently I've been tending more towards the enthusiastic end of the driving scale, and you hear 16V only getting 28mpg if driven hard. Other costs are going to be pretty similar across the range as well. Some of the VR/G60 specific parts are a little more expensive but not prohibitively so. Don't worry about it, maintain it well and just drive it chap! On an off topic note, iow_corrado_g60 I farking love the look of that white one you had. Schweet!

Nice one matey, I look forward to seeing it in all it's MOT'd loveliness at the weekend. :D
-
Nice pics there Joe, and pretty good garage........ got wood? :norty:
-
Cheers for spin out in the VRT Dave, truely awesome and talking to nemesis360 and yourself over the weekend has definitely re-ignited my enthusiasm for my own VRT project..... Although you might not be so happy when I've asked you 100 questions about what I'm doing! And thanks for the brackets, a work of art. :notworthy:

Darn it, beaten to it... :(
-
Man, I really really like that. Putting idea's in my head! Did you say you're keeping the C? Two performance cars eh?
-
Sounds perfect but what about my clutch? :norty: I'd definitely love a bit of help as space at mine is a premium, I'll give you a call and maybe sort out a date, although in a typical fashion it has happened just as I need the car for work so that might dictate what/when I need to sort it. Chains etc at the sametime is probably a very good idea as well so I'll find out about ordering those parts at the sametime. Bit of a weekend rebuild!

Cheers James, I thought there was something already on here about it but search has wealded nothing useful. I'm happy to give it a go myself, just wasn't 100% sure whether doing it with the engine in was possible. In a strange bit of fortune I've actually got a brand new VR clutch already but as I'm going FI in the summer I was just going to sell it, guess not now!
-
Well it looks like my hopes for as little expense on the Corrado as possible in the run up to my wedding (May) is not what my car has planned. :( It would appear that my clutch is on its way out as on the drive home from my folks last night it was like driving an auto with a kick down feature, except loads of revs without the increase in speed. Guessing the only things it can be is knackered/worn clutch or Oil on the clutch... either way it needs looking at. So basically, anyone got an idea how hard it is to do/and the options for doing (engine in situ or everything out etc) a clutch change on the VR? Or how much for a garage to do it? Losing a bit of love for the C at the moment, but I know mechanical things like this can happen to any car so.... ho hum.... just need to get it soted.
-
How much!?! Well done sir, very good cars.
-
Bad luck mate, hope you get it sorted. I'd say it's an electrical problem, compared to say the VR which has the in tank fuel pump only there will be a lot of electrics under your car to do with the fuel pump and accumulator, plus Lambda wiring. I'd say it was very unlikely that water would have gotten up as far as the airbox, or plugs etc without leaving a shed load of tell tale signs. But you might want to consider stuff lower in the engine bay at might has got a little wet (starter motor, alternator maybe?) Unfortunately I'm not overly knowledgable about the 9A.. :( Do you not have a friend who can jump start it for you?
