  1. Have you tried checking the PCV value that connects the rocker cover breather to the inlet pipework. Might had split and was letting unmetered air into the system and had loads of stalling issues etc.... Might be worth a shot. Also, I adjusted my throttle cable as that had come loose at some point so I reset it according to the bentley manual.
  2. As Mr VR6 says, there are a couple of threads about these things. Only thing I will suggest is that it's best to try finding out if there are any forum members near you with the exhaust/suspension you're after who wouldn't mind taking you out for a spin in there cars so you can see what they are all like. Some like boomy exhausts, some dont. Some people think stiff suspension is ok, and vice versa. I have Weitec GT shocks and springs on my VR and I think they're pretty good but others have commented they find it crashy. I also don't like really loud exhausts so I went for a techtonics system which is stock quiet but 2.5" straight through. It's all a matter of taste and who ever has one type is going to say "buy x rather than z".
  3. eeeewwwww!! :pukeright:[/quote:lex0xxfc] Cheers! Now edited
  4. Cheers Nick, been looking on their website. Very interesting and seems like quite good value for proper racing.... might enter for it myself! lol Realised I've probably not worded my question too well, think the info he's after is more likely :- Who's good/bad/up and coming etc and what kind of costs other than the entry fees etc so that they can get a reasonable idea of what they want to offer as some form of sponsorship. I'll edit my original question as well. Andy, I've got my bro to send an email to AutoMetrix now. Cheers. We'll see if he gets a response.
  5. Morning guys and gals Anyone ever been involved in the VW Racing Cup series? The company my brother works for used to sponsor a driver in the BTCC and the Renault cup but that's fallen through now and they are interested in getting some more info on the VW cup and have asked my brother, as a VW nut himself, to find some info out on it. Thought you lovely people might know something about it, or maybe even participated in it?? Needs info on the people/costs/competition etc to make a sponsorship plan up. All info appreciated. Mic
  6. The normal bulbs are filament (sp?) bulbs and therefore disperse an even spread of light. The green film helps but mainly just colours the light. All the LED bulbs I've seen used don't disperse the light very well, even if flattened and sanded. If I was you, just get a 50p sheet of acetate from Maplins and replace the green filters for any colour you like.
  7. Ok, been talking about this with the lads at work..... You've got £15,000 to spend on a car, no restrictions on make/model and you can either buy a car outright, new or used, or buy one then mod it but only up to the £15k limit. ie: £5k on car, £10k on mods etc. What would you do if it was your money? I'd buy a A3 3.2 V6 quattro, then FI the bugger! :norty:
  8. Holy cr@p! That looks bad. I can confirm that the rear axle bushes are a pain in the arse to do but make the car handle so good once done. Luckily for me a friend (mechanic) was able to get my car up on a lift so no need to take brake lines off etc. But he has done loads before. Mine were pretty welded in, and I replaced with OEM bushes. The powerflex ones would be far easier to press in as the OEM ones have an odd shape to them. But you'll lose the passive steering flex you get with the originals. Either way I don't recommend trying it on your own or on the ground.
  9. Sorry for the slack response Old bean, didn't spot anyone had replied. New mod below. Mmm, another on the band wagon! :cuckoo:
  10. I got a loom off ebay just before I went to Germany a few months ago but I don't think I'd secured the relays enough and them bouncing around caused them to break and leave my lights on (full beam and everything) draining the battery in about 3 hours. The loom appear good but the connectors are rubbish. Would you be interested in supplying the OEM connectors to those of us with loom already?
  11. Coullstar has got the 2.8 24V in his and has been hooning it around for a little while now. Direct quote from his thread
  12. Think this is what you're after mate, its dual pole VDO Oil Pressure Sender (silver thing in the pic) If running on guages like mine, it needs to be a 10 bar (150psi) sender. The only thing I don't know is the thread size that's needed. For some reason I've got in my head that it's an M10 type, but I wouldn't like to guarantee that. Can anyone else confirm??
  13. on my VR it is a combined sender. I'll have hunt around and see if I can find you a part number mate.
  14. That will look awesome, it'll be a shame to put anything on there!
  15. Definitely good to see something different. Like most of it, losing the roof bars is a nice touch, but not the lights. Very cool in black!
  16. Loving this, should be brilliant when you're done. Those T4's are great for loads of shuff, and I've seen the VW own camper conversions of them and I really like them Good on ya mate and keep us updated.
  17. Hmmm, loving the wheels..... but not keen on the stretch, but fair play for going for something different though.
  18. Yep, I had the ABS go mad on me recently and it was the rear cages had worked loose. Bit of adjustment with some pliers and it's all good. Doesn't sound like this is your problem though. Also agree with Kev about the grinding noise possibly being a splash guard rubbing, I've had that more than once on other cars and now I'm very carefully to check those when doing anything brake wise. Best advice, when I was trying to see what was up with mine I found it easier to just get everything back off again as there are so many variables when it comes to braking, especially if you've already been working on them. The only good part of that suggestion is the fact it's an easy job.
  19. Yeah I quite like the look of that. I've got a set of black rims to go on mine at some point but on an Aqua blue so I think just black without any rim colour is safest for me.
  20. Probably not, I think both systems are the same. It's probably easiest if you're able to just swap over the bottom ends. That way you get all the benefits of having a pre emission regs car (KR cams are lumpier in all the right places, and you get to stick with no cat) but with a load more oomph! Cam change is a tried and tested mod but ususally people put the earlier cams in the later engine, this way you'll just be swapping over the bottom ends but essentially getting the same results. Have a quick search around, I'm sure someone must have done this already.
  21. I believe, and I'm sure someone will correct me if needed, that both the mountings and ancillaries on the KR and 9A are identical so I would take the 9A engine and put it in the KR with the KR cams as already suggested. Should be good for about 160bhp and easy as pie to do. Welcome to the forum by the way.
  22. Yep, they'll fit but the Corrado is about 200kg heavier than the golf so the springs/dampers may not be able to take the additional forces.
  23. Keep ya eyes peeled for after christmas, 2009 is going to be the year of turbo mincy! Can't keep having those turbo boys showing me up at the Northgate meets!
