    Audi S5, S3

I've been tempted by these recently, but more the new one's with the 267bhp 2.0T motor, but I don't think the other half would let me have 2 non-sensible cars. So think I'll be sticking with FI on the C to keep me entertained. And yes those S5's are very quick, but then it is a 4.2 V8 with 350bhp. My boss has just put his order in for the new RS5, he's trading in his RS6 Avant which is an awesome car so I can't wait to see the new one.
  2. So the rest of the motoring public have been safe around your way for the last little while have they? I read somewhere that if prices drop below ~$60 (ish) it'll actually be costing the oil companies more than that just to process it etc. still, I doubt it'll eat too much into their BILLIONS of profits eh! :bad-words:
  3. I know Cambridgeshire wasn't mentioned but since I grew up near Wellingborough (not good) I thought I'd be ok to reply. My VR6 currently has: - Dodgy ABS 'issues', sticking front spring plates, no slide on the sunroof, and a growing appetite for relays in my uprated headlight loom. I'd like to say it's a daily but although it's my only car it only gets moved at the weekend.
  4. I saw that on the news last night, I'm off to fill mine up after work me thinks!
  5. Is it just me then? I think it sounds pants, I only hope it's because of the camera used as i'd be annoyed of that after about 5 mins.
  6. I've not got a BMC but i've got an induction kit I sometimes use if I feel like having a few weeks of noise. As for driving more sensibly..... no..... i tend to drive more aggressively to make it make as much noise as poss!
  7. As everyone else has said, congrats mate. I've not got children myself but have often had the pleasure of looking after my little niece and I can get all her stuff in the C no problem, although she is only a few months old at the moment so dare not imagine how much stuff she'll need soon! Not sure I'd want to use it everyday though, i'd probably end up getting annoyed and getting a 5 door car for ease of use. I hate to say it but people are not getting much for a C at the moment. KEEP IT!
  8. ah well, I'll just wait to see if it comes out on DVD. I certainly won't be visiting any torrent sites.
  9. what channel is it on or is it a download job?
  10. oh mate, it's looking awesome. Seeing you doing all this prep is making me think I'll have to revise my plans when I do mine...... don't want to be letting the rest of you VRT boys down! Keep up with the pics, very cool. 8)
  11. True, if you can hold of a set of irwin bolt grippers you'll be able to get the bolt out. A pair of Flexible Ratchet Hose Clamp Pliers would also be very useful, didn't have a set when I did this job originally but used a pair since and they are awesome and make short work of the hose clips, no idea how much a set is though.
  12. Can be done but like Jon_vr6 has said you'll be struggling for access so the front will probably have to come off. Which isn't actually a bad job to do, and will make this a far easier job.
  13. what the :censored: but it looked awesome on them? So what you got now, and more importantly what are you doing with the TD?
  14. Basically don't paint - piston and piston cover (rubber bit), rear hand brake lever and rubber washers, bleed nipple and flexi line (banjo bolt bit). Every where else can be painted, although you might want to sand off the surface that meet when attaching caliper to carrier, and carrier to hub.
  15. Don't do it! Just sell me those Super T's instead! Liking the rear wiper removal mate, keep thinking about it for mine but I must admit I like being able to have it there just in case....
  16. Looking very good mate, can't wait to see it all being built up..... so what do you think? 2 weeks and it'll be done? 8)
  17. Must admit I did think about that, and I've had one before so know what they're like to work on. Very light, and the 1.9 I had was impressively quick. But completely unforgiving! If I had a pound for everytime that thing went straight on when it was meant to go round a corner..... :pale: Definitely interested in Andy's idea about the Jetta though, always heard they handle better due to the weight over the rear axle........ and I'd certainly be interested to hear a price on the Seat shell, but would it need to be trailered to the track? mk1 golfs are also definitely an option, thinking about it I've seen quite a few well built mk1's that run rings around most things. So many options!
  18. Hey alright mate? Must admit it was having a poke about your golf the other month that really started me thinking about it, then I got chatting to my brother and he suggested he was thinking about it so seemed a good idea to combine cash..... excited about it now!
  19. Cheers for all the views guys, definitely given me something to think about but my initial feelings that a mk2 golf wold be a great starting platform appear to have been confirmed so I think I'm going to get on the look out for a decent shell and go from there. From a quick scout around the internet this evening it would appear that Goldie is indeed right, £3k will get us a lot of mk2 action. Must admit I've always missed my mk2 golfs since getting rid of the last one to buy the corrado. Hopefully this time I'll get the best of both worlds.
  20. As per the thread title, mk2 Golf or Corrado? Or another VAG car? My brother and I are thinking of building us a little track car after we've both caught the bug, him by driving a friends clio 16v round snetterton a few times and me driving the 'ring and a trackday on a disused runway near stafford in my C and an old scooby. Basically I was going to slowly turn my car into a trackcar but now I'm a little reluctant to do so as I've got loads of nice stuff I'd rather treat it to, and I quite like my car! So we've decided to keep it vw and we're going to buy a do-er up-er, but we can't decide what. I'm thinking a sorted mk2 golf with a nice engine but I'd like to get some opinions from people on here, hopefully guys who have trackday experience but also just people in general.... so what do you all think? Oh and before people start suggesting an R8, we've got a budget of about £3k between us.....
  21. Looking awesome dude, can't wait for a run out in it!
  22. anyone got an idea when the repeat is on? Paused the sky+ when my brother rang but the missus changed the channel....... :bad-words:
  23. Ah bum, bad luck. Hopefully it'll be repairable but like Steve has already said, looks like a rightoff because of that rear panel.
  24. It takes a long time to make sure you're got the right outfit for the conditions of the day. Today, sunday (church), I've decided to go for a more serious jacket/tie combo! Not sure it'll be suitable for working on the car though! :cuckoo:
