Well i've never used these tappets but I have used luk stuff before and it's always been pretty good. I'll be interested to hear how you get on with them as I'm hoping to do something similar myself soon but I was just going to refurb mine.

 I know, that website is evil! Everytime I re-model my car on there I always seem to pick the most expensive stuff! :(

I'm no good on paintshop but get yourself on here and try out a few set of rims! Dubmodder

They look ok, but could you not just refurb your own ones? Tappet Refurb

JSB Racing Shiftlight kit - Pre-order for next batch

Yeah they're fully adjustable, i was just trying to be kind to my neighbours by keeping the revving to a minimum! sorry if the vid is a bit mis-leading  Earlier on in the day we had it set so the red light came on at about 5750rpm with the green starting at about 5krpm (i'm sure Stu will be able the explain it) but I'll say it again, quality bit of kit! -

Had my shift light fitted today by mrbeige himself and it is a absolutely top mod, 110% satisfied and a really nice guy to (cheers for all the tea Stu!) I know there is a small vid on here all ready but as promised I thought I'd add a clip of the one Stu fitted to my VR6 today so you can all see just how good it is! 8) (its fully adjustable but for the vid I thought I'd set it in the lower rev range so I didn't annoy the neighbours too much! ) Cheers again mate, don't forget I owe you a beer or two! -
sorry for a bit of thread hijacking but when looking at ht leads is it worth going for these high spark output ones, can't remember what they're called..... but they have dual paths and a supposedly better spark I know on old aircooleds it used to be popular to go for flame-thrower high output coil and leads to get a bit of life into the old engines! :onfire: I've got a coilpack VR6 if that makes a difference....

My average is probably about 30-33 on the motorway, 25-29 down the back roads. On my last fill up I got 33 mpg and that was a 150 mile A roads trip with a car full of people and luggage.... I was only doing 70mph all the way though!

Hi, nice motor! Based in Cambridge myself so I'll be keeping an eye out for you.

My gauge goes up under acceleration, down on braking, which I thought was the norm in most vw's for about the last 60 odd years! My 1967 beetle used to do it, not that it had much acceleration, and my 1990 golf does it as well. I've had renaults that seem to have more fuel if you're turning right but like Supercharged says 'its never going to be that accurate!' At least vw's are better than most, i used to have a pug 205 with a gauge that appeared to have no relation to the actual amount of fuel in the tank!

My VR has currently got 120K on it but my mk2 golf gti is on 167K and is still as smooth as silk.... .... well ok smooth as council laid tarmac :( but at least its still fun to drive!

These look like my kind of mod! Where abouts in cambridgeshire are you? I really want one but I'd need a hand fitting..... i'll supply the drinks???? -
Yeah i got the lower tray off and loosened off the glovebox. Then it was like storm monkey said, get in the footwell and try and make as much room as possible. Probably easier to get the glovebox out all together but it just would not move, i've heard its a case of brute force and ignorance to get them out and i didn't fancy braking mine. vwdviant, have you tried cable tying together the wires into one big lump and then feeding the whole lot down between the centre airvent and the glovebox, not a great deal of room but then you can feed the remaining cables over the lower shelf and down the pasenger side and into the boot (assuming thats where you've got you changer?!)

Right well went a long to my garage of choice, DG Motors in wellingborough, and had it confirmed. Needs new drivers side wheel bearing and hub. Its going in a week on monday so just in time for christmas. Cheers for all the help guys

Finally had a chance to get back on the interweb after fitting my headunit on weds morning, Turns out that both wires in the vw loom, perm live and ignition live, are the same colour, both brown..... nice to see that efficient german logic in action! Anyway, corradokid is right, got a multi meter on it and simply a case of swapping the yellow(perm) and red(acc) wires over in the loom on the new head unit. jobs a good-un.

yeah got all the screws but in classic vw style it still won't go and I didn't want to go all out and then not being able to fix it back in... Brute force and ignorance, here i come! (best have extra shreddies for breakfast!)

This is exactly what i've been trying to do! can't get the glovebox out so i'll try the lower tray tomorrow. Anyone have any idea which wires are ignition live and permanent live? IIRC one is all brown and one is brown with a white stripe... but i can't remember which is which.

Quick question, looking to install my new head unit tomorrow and I need to remove the glovebox so I can pull the wiring through neatly. Had a look this evening and can't seem to get the thing out, is there some kind of special method that I'm missing? Its a late style dash. Cheers Mic

Cheers guys. Got it jacked up this afternoon, cv's look ok and the wheels don't appear to have much play in the bearings. But i'm no mechanic and I think bcstudent is right that the hot favourite is it's most likely the bearing. Looks like its off to the garage tomorrow

Hi guys just wondering if you can help me with a problem on my '94 VR6. Its making a kind of rumbling noise (similar to a landrovers knobbly tyres on tarmac) which is present when going straight or turning left, but goes away when turning right. I originally thought CV joints but the old carpark and circles trick doesn't seem have any knocking noises... plus its doing it in a straight line when the pressure is off. So wheel bearings? .. well they got through the MOT last month ok New front tyres coming tomorrow so that should eliminate that. So any other ideas?

Had a good go at my leak today, changed the feed line and the clips (Cheers for the part numbers Crasher), fairly straight forward job although not a great deal of room to work in. Repairs seems to be good at the moment, smell of petrol has gone and hopefully now it won't catch fire on me or something!
-
Nicely done, i'll get on that today!

sorry guys, got up this morning to discover a nice big crack in one of my fuel lines and petrol everywhere. Hope you have fun at cambs services and at Stealth, and i'll look out for people coming down the A14 later on the way home (if my fuel problem is fixed!) Mic
