I'm thinking of building my own but I'm intrigued to see the all singing all dancing ones.

Lets play spot the shift light! Well this is how it looks in my car, mrbeige has done a masterful job and if you didn't know what you're looking for you wouldn't notice the shift light at all! This is one stealthy stealthy mod! -
tonedef, I was only saying that the Corrado is very distinctive whereas the more modern cars all look kind of similar. TBH if you're really selling your S3 next year I will probably be top of the list making offers, I would love a car that I don't have to worry about, that I can use everyday and keep the C in a garage somewhere. cheesewire, I agree. Mk5 GTi is a brillant car, I was lucky enough to use one recently as a company car and that thing is extremely capable and you're right the C does feel like an old car when you drive them back to back, but it still feels solid and sorted. You only need to go for a spin in a Subaru Impreza to really feel how light and flimsily a car can be built!
-
Well I for one would be more than happy to accept that the Audi S3 may have the better technology and be quicker in a corner, but at least my C doesn't look the same as every other A3 TDi driven by a rep who's put big wheels and a S-Line badge on it.  Luckily I don't have to drive to work though, otherwise my choice of car would be just the same as the other guys on here, C in the garage and a more modern mile muncher for everyday use. Do you think back in 1992 they were raving about their new company car Corrado VR6 and how they used it for work whilsts keeping the mk1 golf in the garage?

TBH the VR6 is an awesome engine and chassis package, if you think about it how many cars do you see now days rolling out of the factory and capable of topping out at 150mph? The S3 may have the 4wd and trickery to get you in/out the corners and help launch off the line, but unless it's been modded the VR will easily match it on the straight. Standard S3 = 210bhp. 0-60 6.6sec, Top speed 148mph Standard VR6 = 190bhp. 0-60 6.7sec, Top speed 147mph The only thing the S3 has on its side is the fact that its probably only got 50,000 miles on the clock and is only 5/6 years old. I'd still have one though

SLCKVR6, sounds promising, I've just patched mine up with VAG stuff but I like the idea of the fuel not spilling out everywhere! Might have a hunt around and see what we can get in the UK. Anyone race their Corrado? What do you use?
-
Wierd complaint, my rado's quicker then I expected!!

just a question, I thought all the 16V's had clocks that only went up to 140mph anyway? As a guide, I've had my VR up to an indicated 140mph, GPS said it was actually doing 132 which means clocks are about 5% out, guess thats about normal? It was still pulling quite hard but I must admit I was bricking myself so slowed back down! -
part no. is either N10083401 or N0241222.... i think, and I'll have a look in my spares box to see what I've got. IIRC The ones I got from VAG were about 80p each but you can probably get a whole set of them from halfords for about £2, the only downside is you'll have to go to halfords! I got a couple more than I needed because I'll need to use new ones when I change my fuel filter soon.
-
Definately try to use the original ones, If you use Jubilee clips you run the risk of damaging the pipes as you tighten them and as Supercharged says, you don't get equal pressure all the way round on such a small pipe. If you have trouble I think I have some spare original ones which I can dig out for you?

do late VR's come fitted with total closure as standard??
mic_VR replied to 9olo's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Been reading this thread, and tryed it on my '94 VR yesterday and it doesn't do anything. I was expecting something similar to the mk4 golfs but am I expecting too much? Not sure if my alarm is the original or not. Its a cobra but I've also got Scorpion stickers on my windows -
First thing I would concider next is head gasket leaking. have you checked to see if you're getting any steam/water coming out of your exhaust when the car is running and is warmed up? Also check if there is an mayonaise type gunk under the oil filler cap.
-
well good luck with the MOT, let us know how it goes. Mic

Where abouts you based, think I've got a haynes manual somewhere for my old golf mk2 16v which might do it?
-
well this is my first 'rado and you're definately in the right place. If these guys don't know it, it ain't worth knowing. I'm sure someone will help out! Loving the wheels btw, just the style I'm looking for mine. Very nice!
-
Nice colour mate, blue is the best in my opinion! Is it just me or in your second pic does it look like your car has two aerials, one in front of the windscreen and the normal one above the rear window?
-
jonsmart, I'm amazed you survived all those dodgy speedbumps in the aquadrome! I was there with HenryG40 & Emiri plus some of the other Polo guys, that was one hot day! Nice to see the work you'd done on it and I must say I'm loving the red wheels.
-
Son of a Beesting, did you say that was your brothers Polo? If so, was he at the club polo meet at Billing aquadrome last year? Remember seeing this car, or one very similar, and thinking how the f*** does he get over any terrain rougher than a babies bottom!!
-
PMSL  You lot are hilarious! G60SC_Stoney get yourself some traffic cones, keep them in your car and everytime you park you can setup some kind of safety area around it!
-
Well I'll be hoping for a garage next time I move, and there is no-way the missus is getting her Yaris in it! tonedef, Nice collection even if one of them isn't yours and as for the whole taking up 2 spaces etc I say go for it, because if some guy who doesn't give a s**t about their heap of a rust wants to park near you I say do everything (within reason) to protect your pride and joy. Lets face facts, if you park at the other end of Tesco carpark in 2 spaces who is really going to be affected?
-
Thought it was quite funny when I got up this morning, went outside and found my car surrounded by vw's! Left to right:- Polo mk3 (housemates), Golf mk2 (mine), Corrado (mine), Golf mk4 (next doors), Polo mk4 (no ideas) Is this a popular scene across the entire country i wonder??
