stormchaser, ally one would be great but as big_chris has said they're still in testing stage at the mo and I think I'll be forced to go for a plastic item for the time being.

Therapor, sorry mate, didn't mean to cause any mild insomnia. Strange in what way? I aven't touched the leads since I got the car but to be honest half the stuff I've found that has had a dodgy repair so leads all messed up wouldn't surprise me.... might explain why I've got a slight missfire.... Let me know what to do and I'll do it, take a pic and you can get some rest!
-
looks like the most likely cause Stu, although I might be phoning you on saturday morning after I've pulled it all about and it's not. Might need you to lend a hand!

big_chris1981, you my man are a star! excellent answer, if i can get the parts ordered tomorrow and the job done on saturday I'll be a very happy man indeed. Thanks

Ok i know there is always questions regarding this but.... I've got a lovely pool of blue water under my car right now and I think it's the thermostat housing thats broken so... 1- does anyone have a list of part numbers that i'll need to fix it? (thinking, thermostat housing - 2 parts?, thermostat, gaskets etc etc) 2- does anyone know if there is a 'how-to' on here about replacing the housing on a VR6? I know people get annoyed when similar questions seem to be being asked all the time but any help would be appreciated as due to the amount/rate of water loss i can't risk moving the car until it's fixed. Cheers Mic

CazzaVR, really? doesn't seem like there'd be room. I'll give it a go though cheers!

Nice one, just wanted to check as looking through previous threads it seems that people have done a variety of mods from just relocating the canister itself, all the way up to removing all associated pipework and sensors upto the rocker cover breather pipe. Just need to get it straight in my mind as didn't want to go as far as removing everything at the moment as still need to purchase a new flame trap coil that i broke at the weekend. Cheers for all the help, i assume it's a wise idea to notify a garage that it is venting to atmosphre if i have any work done once the CC is removed? fire/explosion risk etc?
-
Hi guys, i know this has probably been answered but just double checking so i don't damage my car. This is as far as I've got. what do i do next? Is it ok to take the two tubes off the canister and feed them into each other? and what do I do with the rest of the pipe work?
-
Thanks guys, this is all good stuff. CrazyDave, I'll be looking at the threads about what you've done to yours. Is it a case of removing the whole carbon canister and all the tubing etc? This could be useful as I was thinking of putting a cold air feed in somewhere and IIRC the carbon canister is directly below the airbox? diggerbucket, more technical names than my deescription, i just drew arrows!

oooh while we're on the subject of broken things, any idea what this is etc? It was already broken when I brought the car but seems like a good time to replace it
-
Ok sorry to bother you guys but whilst trying to fix some issues I have with my braking I've accidentally broken something else on the car :( Its the bit currently held on with cable ties. Anyone know what it is/part number so I can get a new one? I've tried to repair it as best I can but not sure what effect it'll be having on the motor as it's still leaking oil/pressure under load. Any help would be appreciated.

well the one's in the dubmodder mash up are TT 17's but not sure yet......

Welcome to the forum. Essex bird eh? should see you about then if you make it to some of the various cambridge/essex meets, tends to be a lot going on in this area Corrado wise. Have fun!

Phil K, no promises and it's likely to all change BUT a possible vision of the future? Thought and ideas?

Cheers guys MK1Campaign, don't think it was on pistonheads, but i got the ad off of ebay! Can is generally in good condition, interior is spotless, although at some point it's had a bit of a dodgy blow over on the front and rear bumpers. Hoping to get this sorted soon So far I've just been doing mechanical things on it. New aero wipers, new brakes and hoses all round, new cat, full service, new tyres etc etc. And next on the list is new exhaust, rear bushes are shot, and need new sunroof seal and wiper guides (front outsides) as these have gone a lovely mouldy colour.

Ok so i've been on here for what seems like ages but I thought it best to post some pics of my little motor. brought it just before christmas and its a 1994 VR6, 121K on the clock and at the moment completely standard. Needs some paintwork cleaning up but hoping to start getting this all sorted as the weather gets better. anyway, Pics from the day i picked it up And no it's not a private plate......s

Quickest car you've been in, owned and most interesting....
mic_VR replied to NickVR6's topic in General Car Chat
Fastest I've owned is my VR Fastest I've ever been a passenger in is either my sister's fella's Impreza STi with what can only be described as major mods and was, at the time, pushing out about 550bhp! It felt like it could tear itself to pieces at any moment though. Or my old bosse's TVR Cerbera which would wheel spin if you planted the go pedal in 5th, even if you were already doing 70mph! Most interesting car i've ever been in has to be my uncle's vanquish. Didn't feel uber quick but what a noise and all the looks you get. But i guess you'd expect that for £170000! -
My first real chufties! Been working at a vw dealer in the cambridge area and thought that whilst I was in there I'd pick up some parts, hopefully with discount, and when the parts manager found out I had a C he was only too happy to help! He even came outside to check it over and tell me that he 'remembered them first time round' and how 'they were the successor to the sirocco and he didn't understand why they didn't sell!' 8)

er.... Colgate? not really sure this is a time for toothpaste..... Might try some glass polish though

quick Q, anyone know the best way to remove wiper marks from a windscreen? A previous owner of my car must have forgotten to change the wipers for the entire duration of his ownership as my screen now has nice engrained rainbows where the wipers travel! Don't really want to replace the screen but would also quite like to be able to see when the weather is sunny or at night when people are heading towards me...

I'd have the mk2 mate. Had 2 mk2 gti's so far and great bits of kit. Just make sure its in good condition and been looked after. Later one if poss and you'll be really happy with it. As a beside point, the mk2 gti 16V had a power to weight ratio of 150bhp per ton, a feat only matched 20 years later when they released the mk5gti. it's a living legend for a reason! 8)

zak, this thread is exactly what I was wondering about. Looking to get coilovers in the next few months but living in cambridge and with all the dodgy fen roads anything too harst would be tiring after a few miles. I was always under the inpression that coilovers + crap roads = broken back! Anyone know the best place to get the Koni's from and fitable yourself same way as shocks and springs?

Anyone made their own switchblade key with an OE immobiliser
mic_VR replied to stormseeker's topic in Engine Bay
Just read through this thread and was wondering if any one has had any luck using a Cobra alarm and reprogramming a switchblade key fob? -
Man alive I've just read all through this thread and you, and the other guys who have turbo'd their VR's, have put in some serious amounts of work! I'd love to do mine but I just don't think I have enough mechanical knowledge, it seems like such a huge job. Do you have a mechanical background or work for a garage or something? Great job so far though

Welcome! Nice looking motor. As others have said no doubt you'll be modding fairly quickly.
