In case people are interested click on the link and head to the bottom of the page for the midwifery petition. Sorry for the hi jack Jon! http://www.cambridgemidwives.co.uk
-
I 100% agree, my girlfriend is currently part of the group of independant midwives who are petitioning the government to stop them making independant midwifery effectively illegal (which would mean even more load on the already over stretched and understaffed hospitals, plus my girlfriend losing her job/being sued/arrested!) and its pointless petitions like this that will mean the government don't take the worthwhile issues seriously. Sorry Jon, know you're a mate and don't mean to rant in your thread but this a bit to close to my heart to keep quiet.

http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=55166&highlight= This might help. I keep meaning to put it on the wiki.... (note to self, speak to Andi) As CazzaVR said, be careful with the allen head bolts, I was lucky with mine but you do see them rounding out. If I can help at all let me know.

ISV problem - Now just a stalling in general problem!
mic_VR replied to mic_VR's topic in Engine Bay
Sorry guys, been really busy and forgot to update this thread. My stalling issue appears to have been cured for now, and as mr deviant said I made it to the cambs meet on sunday. Re-cleaned my ISV and had a look at the fueling. Decided to change the fuel filter and put some fuel system cleaner through and it appears to have done the trick. :D Although, interestingly, the fuel filter I removed appears to be the original that came with the car! so decided to cut it open, carefully, and inside it was black with gunk. So not surprised that the fuel probably wasn't getting through correctly. Guess we'll wait to see if it's cured for good........ -
ISV problem - Now just a stalling in general problem!
mic_VR replied to mic_VR's topic in Engine Bay
Ok well I fitting my cleaned up ISV and brand new damper last night and all seemed well, but today it has started stalling again! It seems a bit random ie: it doesn't do it everytime I slow down, but it is getting more frequent everytime I go out in it. Any ideas? Thinking I might look at the fuel supply tomorrow, not sure the fuel filter has ever been changed etc, but not sure what effect that would have on the cars idle... bit lost tbh and the list of things I need to fixs seems to be getting longer each week! :( -
ISV problem - Now just a stalling in general problem!
mic_VR replied to mic_VR's topic in Engine Bay
CazzaVR, mine hadn't sucked the foam out whole, it has just broken up over time and i'm guessing slowly little bits of plastic foam have been entered the enigne itself. I've now removed the whole thing but wondering how much damage, if any, the plastic might have done to other parts? adamukcorrado, the ISV is a common problem on loads of VW engines, and overtime no matter how much you clean them they still wear out. And as xbones, says the damper is only there to stop you from hearing the clicking noise it makes when it's working properly. -
Afternoon all, After a couple of weeks of my car stalling when warm I finally got around to having a look at it last night thinking it was most likely the ISV being all gunked up. And sure enough the ISV was filthy, so taken that off and cleaned up, but also noticed that the damper box fitted behind it has been broken at some point and not repaired very well. Appears to have been glued back together with silicon sealant  and when I pulled it apart there was only a small amount of the foam left. I'm guess that the rest has therefore been sucked through the ISV and into the engine at some point, which I'd say wasn't exactly ideal? :( So i've ordered a new damper but I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and what else I should take off and clean in case this foam stuff is causing problems elsewhere? Any help appreciated as I need it back up and running to make the cambridge meet on sunday!

Nice! The only BMW I'd concider having IMHO. Well done mate.

Rob, if you need a good garage get yourself over to DG motors in wellingborough. Used them for years and the guy there is a massive corrado fan. Not notch work and he always seems to do a good deal for an enthusiast

timmaaah, you're right. Missing a bolt..... weird. As for the replacing of the thermostat, its a fun job but you can do it on your own. See here for a how to! http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=55166&highlight=

I agree with the beige boy wonder, Both cars look awesome! 8) I must admit i'm loving the dark wheels look at the moment. Great stuff! -
CazzaVR, Mr Sands, cheers guys I must admit this is the first time i've really been able to appreciate the pearl paint and I can't stop looking at the pics. I think every car should be made to have pearl paint, Possibly by law! Although I have to say that a drop is definitely on the cards now as I can't help thinking that people might be hiding stuff in my wheel arches there's so much room! :( Best get saving......

Sorry mate wasn't me. As i pretty much walk everywhere my car only tends to get driven at the weekends unless I need to use it for work, which is only about twice a year! I always keep a look out for you when I'm over newport/debden way though!
-
Ok had a chance to sort some of the other pics out so here you go. (don't worry, no dodgy outfits this time!)
-
Yeah thats one of my faves, i'll have to edit it to see if I can get it in the banner! And I take it no one likes the 3/4 lengths? You sure? Ok concider them binned...... :(
-
Managed to get outside over the weekend and give the C some love in the form of a 3 step treatment. I think it looks pretty good but I'll let you guys be the judges. One of the owner as well! My friend took all the pics and we got about 130 images in the end. I've not had a chance to go through them all yet but if I turn up anymore good ones I'll be sure to put them up on here.
-
I'd best get myself out practicing then! Don't tell the missus I'm off to buy a machine polisher  ........
-
Nice work mate, i did a 3 step treatment on mine for the first time this weekend but didn't but in half the effort that you seem to have done! Amazing. You're in Rushden right? only about 5 mins from my parents place, i'll have to pop over for some tips!
-
that looks really good. What model passat is the roof off, I need one for my C as the original has given up on life
-
Looks really nice mate, I've been inspired to get my lazy ass up and 3 step mine today! :D Also loving the photography, not enough people pose for their car pics!

That is amazing! So want to turbo my VR now!

If this isn't the fastest Corrado in the world then what is?
mic_VR replied to PhatVR6's topic in General Car Chat
Thats only a 1/8 mile, dub envy is right a 5 sec 1/4 mile is probably well over 200mph, top fuellers only muster a 6sec 1/4 time at TV of 300+. Still, i wish my C was that quick..... -
My VR's original grill was the 2 top slats closed version and when I went for an FK badgeless with all the slats open it made no difference. But I have to say much like Foggystorm my oil temp sits at about 86-90 when driving normally, creeping up to about 96-98 if on a bit of a spirited run. Strange how they all behave so differently.....
-
My VR usually works out as about 28-29mpg over a whole tank, although that goes down rapidly if you start being a bit over eager on the old go pedal. But my general experience with all Corrados is don't buy one if you want to save the planet!
