GVK's mk2 Golf VR6 'mit GT3582R turbolader'
jamminvr6storm replied to GVK's topic in Members Gallery
I had the same on mine, once the rad and front mount intercooler were in place there wasnt much space for an oil cooler (plus it wouldnt have been very effective) so I relocated mine here: Mock up pics Not sure its the same on the mk2.... Welded small strips onto the bumper iron and mounted it at an angle, this has been very effective and it sits neatly behind the lower grill on the Corrado OE bumper. -
So what you need to do is connect the WG pipe (the silver one that connects to the side of the wastegate in your picture) to a takeoff from your inlet manifold. This works better if the pipe is continuous (i.e no joins).
-
If you want to run just WG pressure its best to connect it directly to a take-off on the inlet manifold. I use a Tial 38mm with a 6psi spring, they recommend using a 6mm ID hose direct from the inlet to the WG. Also make sure you have the correct side of the WG plumbed in.

I had A/C and I have heated seats, all the controls go in the button pod to the left of the dials and as above my ABS light is next to the headlight switch. I actually binned my air-con in favour of a big custom front mount intercooler :norty:

Is ther a decided date then? Trying to possibly tie it in with getting the Racelogic fitted as its a 400+mile journey for me. 2 birds with one stone and all that. I think Sunday would be better for me. Just had a quick chat to vince and he said it would be the sunday if we are going ahead on that weekend.

Im all paid up :) -
Yep Jetex custom build pipes, its a tight fit in the tunnel but as long as the mounts and hangers are well positioned and good and strong then the silencer doesnt move. You can order pipe parts with flared ends to fit over the 3" pipe or they do joiners.
-
Yep... same here. A couple of pics: How it arrived Welded up downpipe Mock up Final stages I have a pic of it all finished somewhere, I'll try and dig it out :)
-
Try either Andy @ Storm Developments or Vince @ Stealth Racing, both are well known on this forum but will be quite a distance from you if youre in Scotland. Be good to see what numbers it makes with those cams :)

Works for me, the sooner we can finalise a day the better so I can get it in the diary :)

Totally agree Kev, I've PM'd Vince -
LOL... this was good fun, VRT's are very quick :D Just a shame I didnt have the confidence that it would corner as well as the DB9.... Otherwise I wouldnt have had to lift off  So here are the graphs: Graph 1 - Measured using Emeralds standard rolling road software, shows 326.9bhp @ 7psi Graph 2 - Measured using Emeralds standard rolling road software, shows 382.1bhp @ 10psi That's a 56 bhp gain for 3psi more boost. (Kevs makes 392 @ 11psi / Shauns makes 400 @ 14psi) Graph 3 - Emeralds standard rolling road software only reads up to 400bhp so Dave Walker use additional software to measure bhp figures over that. I was advised by Dave Walker that this software reads approximately 5% out and I should remove 30bhp from this graph (Shaun, you can check this with Keith at JKM as they have a very good relationship with Dave Walker) - shows 540bhp (-30bhp) Given that the difference between Graph 1 and Graph 2 is 56bhp for 3psi it would make sense that its running around 500bhp on 16 psi. The end of the day, I can only go by what I have been told at Emerald as this is the only rolling road it has been on. Fair enough what you say Shaun, these figures are different to yours on the same turbo (GT3076) but my engine specification is different to yours. Charlie, arent you running the smaller GT3071? This would give a quicker spool but less top end power. Tell you what, how about if my car makes 500bhp @ 16psi at the Stealth shoot out.... Shaun and Charlie can pay for my run :norty: I'll await the comments......
-
I wondered how long it would take people to criticise the power figures. I'll post up my graphs from Emerald....
-
Thanks Kev, almost spot on.... 02A with Wavetrak diff. GT3076 and 7, 10, 16psi (no water injection) It was actually Kev who recommended the turbo, amongst the hundreds of emails I sent him picking his brain :salute: with that GT35 he has, his is more than capable of 600hp :D
-
Thanks Pete :salute: Yep, your V3's have certainly been put to good use - they get daily excersise lol I know I keep saying it but I will get round to writing up a full build thread, I have around 300 pictures of the full build, everything from the engine build (3.0 forged pistons, forged rods, big valve head etc...) to all the parts that have been custom made (deleted radiator lower panel, customised front cradle, renault radiator, custom 3" exhaust, turned MS adaptors, customised slam panel for intercooler space...... its a long list.....) It actually has 3 maps, 330hp st1, 390hp st2 and 510hp st3 all at varying levels of boost. Cheers Charlie. Mine is also a 1.5ltr swirl pot, this was to avoid starvation on full chat. Even though I am using a Walbro 255 in tank pump I wanted to be sure as the 044 has an amazing flow rate. On a side note, I saw your car at Stonor. Looks great fella, more OE than mine :) I think the last time I saw it was years ago at Brands when the CF had a stand for the VW cup. Mine and yours were both SC back then. Yep, agree totally Kev. My fuel pumps have their own fused and relayed loom, independant of any standard wiring LOL in all fairness you dont hear the pump when you have a stereo on, plus on a good point if you stop hearing the angry bees, or they change tone.... you have a problem!
-
Nice job Kev - as ever :salute: It looks really neat and tidy, i'm sure yours will be far quieter then mine. I put mine in the boot, sounds like a swarm of angry bees following me around :cuckoo: LOL! I used a walbro 255 in tank pump feeding my 1.5ltr swirl pot, then a 044 to feed the engine from there... Not the best pic but you get the idea

The definitive "What Air Filter?" discussion thread

Here is a pic of my air filter, next to my bread bin so you can get a sense of scale  I was tempted to use a stock air box but I have a 4" intake pipe -
LOL... wasnt that exactly what I said? Good luck with it fella, post up the results :D

This is a screenshot of the slip control settings, you get this software with all of the kits. So basically you can fine tune to your personal taste the Dry/5% to 20% slip to your own liking. My personal opinion is you don't need the display, this is one of those enhancements that once setup for the first time you won't need to alter it again. If you do then there is more than enough scope in the manual selector to cope with all conditions. The RTC6AL is all I have in my Corrado, I have never altered the slip control settings in the software. I always use 20% slip setting for dry weather and either the wet setting or the 5% (this is the lowest dry setting) for wet weather. Slip Control.jpg[/attachment:mzwodagu] Thank you for the info Vince. Seems to be more then enough adjustment on the standard software, I'll stick with the RLTC6AL -

What are the preset slip percentages for the 'dry' and 'wet' settings? Looking at the digital display picture Im assuming that 'dry' is 5%? Does the digital display allow you to change more features on the RL or is it just a different way of the diplaying the same information? (I see you havent really played with the digital adjuster but wondering what the benefits are?) I am not too sure that the digital display is worth the extra £100 unless it provides greater functionallity so at the moment I am thinking RLTC6AL (plus I already have enough digital interfaces to play with at the moment with the Emerald plus the PLX DM100 stuff lol) -
I personally am not a big fan of Unichips, I used to have one and the gains are marginal. I would fit the VGI and ensure it is working correctly, ebay the Unichip and put the money towards a remap of your standard ecu from someone like Storm Developments or Stealth Racing.

Stealth Racing VR6 Turbo Kit discussion
jamminvr6storm replied to Vince@Stealth's topic in Engine Bay
After seeing your 0-60 times Greg I am very keen on getting Racelogic! Not sure whether to have a go myself or get Vince to install it. How much does Vince charge for the install? -
Im sure I remember discussions about Borg Warner turbo's in this thread a while back...

VR6 Master Cylinder - HELP - Obsolete!!!
jamminvr6storm replied to jamminvr6storm's topic in Suppliers Forum
Correct Kev - both ECP and TPS gave me a mk4 jobbie! I need this urgent guys, if anyone can help..... (i'll give Pat McCrotch a shout now) :salute: -
I need a master cylinder for my VR. VW say the part is now obselete and I cant seem to find anywhere that can supply one new. Euro Car Parts and TPS both say they can but when it arrived it was not a Corrado one. Need some help on this one guys, need a new one asap, got a mapping day next week and cant get the car there without brakes! Tried a second hand one from someone on here but that was knackered too so dont really wanna go down the second hand route.
