I agree henny! - i've done 30k plus now in my diesel charriot and the b5 wagons are great, i bought mine at 147k with a new turbo at 140 fsh lots of bills etc and so far... New discs and pads (fair enough) new lower wishbones as both wishbones snapped - seperately (at low speed thankfully) new driveshafts cos of ^^^ New timing belt waterpump cambelt suspension was knackered so put coilys on (good excuse) silly wheels and tires (dont go above 17's, 18" tires are wallet destroying!) o and a a sport inteior but that was just me being a ponce! You can pick up 100k 110 diesels for less than 1k now and i think they look awesome - jon knows the hassles i've had with mine though! jon a k3 1.9tdi can be had for fcuk all and with a tuning chip they are rapid (malcolm had a chipped one and it went well) + plus lots of bits from 'undesirable' mk3 gti's to make it look better! o and if i'm honest jon - you could have my mk3 for a decent price seeing as its you!

yep they are a nice seat, but not the most supportive when doing enthusiastic driving! also they weigh a ton compared to lightweight buckets only real need for new seats for me was i wanted to remain in the seat when playing at high speed!

hello mate, i'm 6'5" so understand the problem! i have got carbon fibre buckets for mine and after messing around with subframes have decided that a direct fix to the floor with bolts through the recaro side mounts is the only way. The problem is that your head will hit the roof with most aftermarket buckets and subframes as they tend to be for golf or corrado and be non height adjustable Also setting the seats so you can actually drive the beastie without your knees touching the wheel means that the back of the seat is almost touching the rear seat heel boards! So my advice if your starting to think about things is how much adjustablitiy do you need? if your the only one drving the car and dont mind a spot of welding/drilling then direct fix is easiest!

memories or nightmares! ? It was alot of fun in a weird way - the worst job of all has to be removing the colum and pedal box as lying on your back with at bloody front seat mount wedged in your back/shoulder whist undoing awkward bolts wasnt fun but it made it all the more satisfying when it came out!

Well its taken me long enough to get round to it but me and Ed were going at full speed this weekend! managed a bit of friday saturday and sunday afternoon... wasted so long dithering as i couldnt get the dash out friday aternoon (the bloody nuts at the back of the plenum chamber!! :censored: ) But this is as it stands now - on friday i'll be able to drop the headlining and upper trims and then drag the harness out completeley and then start installing the R32 one over the easter weekend  so just to show i havent been sitting on my arse like i did all winter :camp: i have wrecked my once lovely leather interiored C! :pale: ... it'll be worth it though

Well golfy is taxed mot'd insured and running sweet, polished and valleted and under a car cover to preserve the paint on the driveway! The passat has just had its second new front wishbone after the other side collapsed! :epicfail: and will be recieving a whole manner of boom boom tune enhancing hardware to make by journey to work more enjoyable Will be fooking around with corrado this friday... need to start some for sale posts for the old parts!... running out of space in the unit.... The C looks sorry for itself atm! O and John... the aim is for edition this year :cuckoo: ... besides easter's coming. the nights are longer and warmer so i can be arsed to tinker in a shed and with the crispy crunch theres no OT atm so i have friday afternoons free  Basically this will drive me mad but i refuse to pay and let someone else build my car, just keep telling myself its jsut nuts and bolts right :-)

they look pretty cool actually - i wasnt sure before i saw them on the car but they work :-) -
theres alot of g60 experts on here that know more than me but i thought for a g60 2litre engine you needed a t4 2.0 8v block as its significantly stronger than the ones used in the golf/passats at that time

oooo 17" speedlines! - heard they existed but never seen any :) has anyone on here got them and are they still available? edit... http://www.speedlinecorse.co.uk/aftermarket/after2110.htm only available in 7"! want more tire than that'll allow :-(

identical situation to me and my corrado, bought a pasat diesel, better for the commute but no power and no fun! My advice wouldbe to really get stuck back into the corrado - spend the long summer eves tinkering with bits and pieces like rust and stripping the interior and sorting problems with a plan to get it on the road for either late summer or next all sparkling with all the niggles sorted

Stealth charge over 5k to supply and fit a low mileage mk5 engine onto your vr6 box and get it running on aftermarket management, providing you have a good enough exhaust (3" i think) they promise 290bhp. Thats alot of money when i think about how much mine is costing me and they have the ability to buy in bulk!
-
depends what your budget is really but if your just looking for a 30mm drop a spring/shock combo'd be cheaper than coilys. I've got weitec hicon gt on mine and they are fine for lots of miles and you can get it pretty dam low!

o and just to help clear up any confusion the b5 & b5.5 passats are based on the architecture used for the same variant audi a6's, but in a smaller shell :D so the engine/suspension/hub assemblies are near identical to the audi and skoda superb which helps when sourcing spare parts so you have all engines mounted as the picture shows even the fwd's, the front seats are the same subframe bolt positions and runners as the a6 - if you wanted to you can fit rs6 front seats in 8) -

bwa ha ha ha ha ha now the why havent you done it yet/winters almost over debate goes public! i've said my peace :censored: -
read pvw! :cuckoo: such a load of horsepoop, i bought one a few months ago months ago and it was full of a yank mk5 club called 'we fcuk shit up' who all modified their cars in the same way by lowering them on 17's... this was given pages and pages of space along with almost everyother crap vw available in america at that point. Dont get me wrong, america has some truly stunning dubs i'm sure - i have seen pic sof a few and just like this country there will be the the truely special and individual cars never making it to uk mags. But i finished reading that mag in about 15mins and seem to remember paying about a fiver for it, what a rip off i thought and as said above by someone else i havent even bothered flicking through it in whsmiths anymore if i am ever there! i'd say let the owner have its rant as fingers crossed it'll bolster general opinion that corrados are a rare fine beastie and good modifed ones are like hens teeth, so when the inevitable happens and we each ahve to move on we might be able to retrieve more than the value of a set of new alloys from our lovingly cared for coupes!

Southam, between Daventry and M40 your kidding? i never bothered to see where stealth were... i was staying in marton- 5miles north of southam for over a month before xmas, o well now i know that i work 10mins from them

well with the credit crunch hitting hard, do some research and get down the car auction, a friend of a work colleague just bagged an 05 plate cayene s for £10500! from a bankrupcy and fleet car auction or something. Its apparently quite common atm as many people ran them as company cars and that particular one they had to drop the starting bid to 4k before anyone committed! O and my best mates dad was recently offered 6k by the dealers for his 04 plate 40k blue s2000 with optional blue softop and matching hardtop, immaculate condition with no kerbing to the standard wheels or to the late model one he had fitted... yet they had a one with more miles on the forecourt for £11k so managed to sell it to a mate for 8.5... theres some proper bargains out there. 6k will probably get you a previous gen m3 convertible with toys now as i found good ones for 10k in november and the car ndustrys gone bad since then... just a thought!

kv even with a trade card it often works out cheeper to wait for their sales and offers on the tool chests o and the card only applies to tools, parts and consumables if i remember right, no doesnt apply to cleaning stuff, paints, chav tat, wheels, stereo's, bikes etc

Yes i think a full history is worth it when buying a car, but a full history to me means stamps and corresponding invoices/receipts + for lots of parts at other times of the year (all cars need niggly little things across the year) After many years taking my cars to vw i will never again as on more than one occasion they'd try and replace aftermarket 'performance parts' with factory items as they didnt relise the aftermakets were upgrades - the main memory that sticks out is on my mk3 gti, a phone call informing me my suspension was seized and the wheel was rubbing on the arch and had melted the arch spat away and that'd need replacing as would the rear suspension... It had Spax RSX coilys on there set fully hard as it was lowered so much and the arch spat had been carefully cut away on the inside and lip... the units were 2year olds and i promptly told them not to worry about it. Iwas then charged the £180 same as kip for and oil/plugs/filter change... they dont discount even if you have an induction kit thus not requiring an airfilter and they also do not clean/oil the cone filter. I am fortuante that a firend run a garage close to me and i get to use his ramps to service my cars and simply pay the cost of the parts as the labour is all my own, the parts usually cost about £40 and it takes about 30mins-an hour to do at a leisurely pace... the book is stamped as it has been serviced in the garage and i get a receipt of the service parts + anything else it needs on that day. i'd love to know where vw get the prices from! Even if you cna t do the work yourself finding a trustworthy independant is much better imo than taking to 'the man'
