Just bought one of these as my teng stuff is looking tired and i've lost bit of it, very impressed with the range, only gripe is the size the spanners and sockets go up to but you cant have eveything! Worth noting as well the ratchet spanners are also less than half price atm.. normally 90 but i got mine for £37 :-)

Jon i was refering to the money/teams in f1, not the drivers -the fia has repeatidly been hounded with accusations of racism which is farcical as alot of the money in the sport comes from the far east in sponsorship. O and Kev good point they probably are just pointing out milestones but it seems sometimes they're saying it as if it is a hinderence ,hence my previous comments!

Apaling? not at all - a driver who is good enough won the championship this year, in the past god knows how many years i have seen many drivers win the title, the most prolific being schumacher or even remembering back to the glory days (for me as a kid) of Senna and Mansell, standing there at luffield when schumacher ran hill off the track etc. The drivers who were good enough won, for whatever reason there was not a black person good enough, in the same way there has nefver been an albino or an eskimo win it. I really agree with andy's first post that the focus is strangely misplaced! Completely sgree, he's a fantastic role model for all really - his manor composure and his achievements from humble beginnings are testiment also to what seemingly good parenting can do for a child also. And in a sport visibly dominated by white rich brits its fantastic to see people from a wider cross section of the world winning, whether they be black white asian etc and whatever country they come from! Either way i'm still amazingly happy and proud of hamilton that he won Just my 2p's worth anyway!

I'm not a complete prat, mate - I know they'd use computers to do this sort of design. The point I was making was that the computer rendered designs LOOKED like computer rendered designs, and not professional enough (in my opinion) to have come from Volkswagen :) If that was done by an enthusiast then i'm very impressed, that looks like a promo video from a graphic design studio (guessing "img studio" from the opening credits), but i'd have thought that an enthusiast wouldn't make up a fully functioning cad model and render it as well. If you look at it in detail, yes it is rough but it is scaled down to fit on you tube. The quality of the rendering on the chrome, glass and the paint looks spot on as does the lighting and shadow. If that has been done by an enthusiast i'd imagine he works in a design studio for his day job! and he's spent an awful long time on it! Who ever did it i really hope its vw cos that would be an amazing coupe, although the back of the sp2 looks tomuch like an amc pacer for my liking this one seems right! *edit* - it looks like a design students work thinking about it, a bit of digging around and the bloke who owns the clip on you tube also owns that vw tl concept which is labelled torronto design volkswagen at the start, this apears to be a design competition open to students studying auto design for a cash prize. So yes it's taken a lot of work but it it might be a final year piece... all that points to it not being a concept then :(

I think i've just fallen in love... with a car! lol this video... i was slack jawed, its beautiful! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QpM6jC_Tmh0

woah thats a hell of a development program!... i'm glad we have 3D cad to conceptualise those sort of ideas now... cant believe they built rolling shells of the above! :pukeright: i suppose its proof that if you keep trying you'll get there in the end but it gives you a pretty strong idea as to why the car ended up so expensive if thats how it was developed! Some great pics in this thread though! :)

Absolutely not! Turboing gets VERY expensive where the R32/24V are concerned. Cams are more than twice the price. Short runner intakes are 3 times the price and only 2 or 3 people make them. The stock plastic manifold will blow apart if you push more than 15psi through it. Turbo manifolds are expensive and in short supply too. Expertise in mapping ME7 24V ECUs for turbos is also in short supply too. One of the very few companies who can cover all of these bases in one shop is Hpgturbo.de Nothing messy about this install 8) down boy! it was only a flippant remark, i've looked into the hgp kits for a few years and have be astounded by the neatness and power produced by them, they look almost stock! 8)

Woth mentioning probably a mate has had his car back from storm for a few weeks now after they fitted a 9ker mk5 r32 engine into it for him, the dyno graph they gave him made near as dam it 300bhp, he's got increased mpg (the car was/is an ealy model mk3 2.8 vr) but the amount he paid it is more than worth doing the work yourself!... TBH this is what started me thinking again of binning the 2.8t project as its the r32 engined corrado i'd always wanted, yes its smoother on stock management but for me as well its gonna be as much about driving a car that i've built and put so much time and efort into to make mine, for that reason alone i think it doesnt matter what engine you put in, its your car and if you lot are like me, when you see a car you think - whats that missing, how can i improve that to be more focussed to me using the car as i intend... and besides, once you've swapped one engine and loom in, whats to stop you doing a different one in a few years time :-) o and this talk of cheapo turbo upgrades to get 300bhp out of a vr sounds awesome, will that kit work on an r32??... looking at some of the projects being built around europe/world with the turbo kits, the limits seem to only be limited by money with this engine as i've seen dyno runs on you tube with well over 600bhp... o and i cant wait to see the lizard r36 roll out either, v special!
-
For me i wanted a new r32, but put off by the high tax costs and potential depreciation - that was before the 'credit crunch' - then the more and more i looked at them, the more i thought they're fat, over weight and have to much space, i want mine to be used as a fun can and dont need to carry passangers so the corrado's a perfect base and imo a much better looking car to use the 24v engine in, then i'll have 270-280 bhp and if/when i get bored i can look into more power for an engine thats done sooo many less miles than the 12v, like you said, the rebuild costs will be identical, but hopefully not for a few years! besides by the time i get bored Karl and a few others on here will get bored long before and will already be super/turbocharging them
-
I was looking into this myself, bought a 2.8 blocks ready to go turbo etc, started contacting people about getting parts over from the states... then i added up the cost, read about reliabiility and thought about what i wanted from the car... now i'm goign R32! ... gonna be a fun winter! 8)

lovely car that, they look stunning in the white with red... very good choice! be careful though my mate and his dad went out for a drive last week, he in his exige and his dad in his s2k, both takin it fairly easy as they were just out enjoying the nice weather, his dad got it wrong round a roundabout and burried the front under a barrier :( easily done and this is someone who downgraded from a z4m coupe and had a gsxr750 so used to fast machinery! Not a such such a pretty sight after that! -
Halfords petrol proof lacquer, did my golf inlet manifold after full polishing and my vr's, the fgolf did 10k without blistering and the vr has yet to be fitted (as with lots of things! lol) Use 3 light coats in clean conditions and although it takes a slight shine off the polishing it still looks polished, and can be wiped colean when drying the car after washing!
-
when you say clean and grease, do you mean the slider pins on the rear? vw labour rate was £95 p/h last time i checked! and nas above fuel filter is v easy, save yourself the best part of £200+ and tackle it one weekend?
-
reds the new cammo vinyl dude, everyone will want one next year! Rados are a cruel mistress, for the brief moments of pure ectasy you have to put up with an occasionally high maintinence queen with a drinking problem... but shes worth it!! depends how much driving you do and what you want out of it? if you do alot of miles then the 2.08v's give 40ish mpg on a good run, vr's and 16v's do between 25-35 mpg, serviceings relitively cheap, same as golf and it makes me smile much more than my old golf!
-
well spotted they are a strange and mythical beastie... awesome machine though!
-
just ordered some ap coilovers from venom for the passat, had rave reviews recently and £315 delivered... fully height adjustable front a rear, cant imagine the corrado kit'd be much difference price wise, they do a passat 35i kit which is the same year as the corrado rear passat frame i thought... maybe try them?

Removing smashed and seized rear bearing - Garage Wont admit
yeti replied to yeti's topic in Drivetrain
Oke doke, just got off the phone with trading standards, very very nice people! They say the garage, if can be proved to be at fault has a duty to make good under the sale of trade act of something or other (will edit and correct with the right terminology when the email comes through from them!) I am to send a letter on to them informing them that a qualified professional has inspected the vehicle and this is his opinion ' quote mechanics statement' and inform them they have a duty by law to make good their work, and to inform them that if they still wont aknowledge the problem i will happily pay for an independant vehicle check from the rac that will show waht the root cause is. This cost will be passed to the responsible party... eventually... but either way, they basically informed me i should not pay for anywork to be done to rectify it as its not my fault the error has occured! -

I have been advised that the best thing for me to do which may well result in the worst thing for them is inform trading standards, i have rung them this morning but my phone lost signal so i will be phoning back this afternoon to seek their advice. Citizans advice reminded me to think laterally about the sitaution and providing the Independant vehicle inspection and possibly a chemical analysis on the bearing will be non circumstantial evidence. I feel this whole situation has gotten out of control for what was agreeably an easy if embarrasing mistake to make if not used to working on older vehicles, i am finding it hard to believe it is a part problem and what is motivating me to get to the bottom of this is the way the consumer is treated and just has to accept the garages statements regardless. Even if i have to incur the full cost somewhere else to fix the vehicle i will be happy that i have exhausted all ways of trying to resolve the issue. I am gaining nothing by giving them the work at the end of the day!
