Anyone know if these repair panels are still available from heritage or classic parts? (Don't know how to tag annavr6 so also hoping she see's this) Mainly after the top one (191804079B part 8 in diagram). Its the plate that always gets crushed when tire fitters jack it the wrong place. Sits underneath the front part of the floor pan. 191804079B connecting plate for longitudinal member left 191804080B connecting plate for longitudinal member right Not the actual part in this link but Parts 8 and 9 in the diagram attached https://www.volkswagen-classic-parts.de/radhaus-abschnitt-rechts-corrado.html

Thanks, that's what I hoped to hear, I must have got it confused with something else.... It's surprising how quickly costs for bolts and bits and pieces builds up... Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

Im going to be changing my water pump and removing the engine mount bolts in the process but I remember reading somewhere that the bolts were single use stretch bolts but cant find the info anymore. Is it a bad idea to reuse them? (they are probably only about 4 years old)

Garage recomendation near Altrincham, Manchester (Water pump woes!)
GusPW replied to GusPW's topic in Suppliers Forum
Thanks Philly! VW said £400... So I was just contemplating taking a chance at driving home friday and doing it myself on the weekend (other half would not be happy with this!) I'll give them a call tomorrow :-) Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk -
Apologies for not using search first but I'm away from home on a training course all week and don't have much spare time. My coolant appears to be leaking from the main water pump (VR6) and I'd like to get it sorted before driving the 160 miles home on Friday..... Anyone know anywhere reliable near Altrincham? Also what pumps do people fit these days or are they still available from VW? I remember something about metal impeller ones being preferred??

2 for me please

I'm interested, pending the points on quality already mentioned.

Idle values should sort themselves out in a minute or so of idling. Clearing the fault codes might help, maybe it's still in a protective map due to stored fault codes? If you don't have vagcom to do this then disconnecting the battery should do it. I've never bothered with the whole complicated procedure, I think clearing the codes using vagcom(which seems to wipe learnt values as well anyway) and then drive about a bit seems to work fine as long as you have corrected the original problem.

fill a spray bottle with water, wait till it's dark, start engine and spray the coil pack and ht leads with a fine mist of water. If you see sparks jumping you've found the problem. (Or at least one problem!)
-
Thanks, that's a very kind offer.☺ I won't hold up your sale but I'll try the old water mist test over the weekend and if this still hasn't sold I might take you up on the offer. I have a small graveyard if these in my garage so I'm also looking at the possibility of non standard stronger alternatives if mine has gone again.

Seems to be these people in US who are making the kits and now selling them in UK through the company in my original post. http://www.vr6coilbracket.com

Anyone fitted one these to a standard VR6? https://vwpartsinternational.com/shop/electrical-engine-parts/msd-coil-pack-kit-brand-new-custom-made-vw-golf-mk1-mk2-mk3-vr6/
-
I think I'll leave it for now, I need to check if mine is definitely the problem first before I take a punt on a second hand one. Cheers Gus
-
Do you know roughly how old the coil pack is? Or roughly how many miles it's done? I'll take it if it's not too old. Cheers Gus

Ended up getting a new bracket from VW, only 3 left now before they go obsolete. About £36...although more like £50 if you also want all 4 bolts. One of them was about £5 on it's own, and as far as I can see the only difference is it's a bit shorter that the others!!

1994 Black Corrado VR6 - Offers for Engine / Gearbox
GusPW replied to wapadrand's topic in Cars for Breaking
Sorry, don't need this anymore, I bit bullet and picked one up from vw. Thanks anyway -
don't see why you cant use de-ionised water, will have virtually all ions and minerals removed and the inhibitors in the antifreeze will do the rest.
-
Ahh, OK! I did think it looked like it would benefit from a washer or something to spread the load. I think it was last changed by a well respected garage so assumed something like that would have been picked up Hopefully VW still do the bolt?
-
I think this might have something to do with the group buy poly front engine mount......too much vibration being passed through the rear mounts?
-
Don't think they cost much more from the dealer, but it was I while ago that I last bought one

Hopeful bump!

Appreciate the offer, thanks, but Essex is a bit too far, my time is limited with a 4 month old in the house now, my other half may go insane if I spend too much time on the car!! Anyone closer have one spare?
-
Hi If anyone has one of these near Reading/Oxford that I'd be able to collect before the weekend please let me know. It's the cast alloy bracket that joins the gearbox to the mount, mine has snapped! Cheers Gus
