Bought one of these for previous car and might get another. Only problem is the battery is under the rear hump inside the car. Remind me what the battery connection/lead are please so I can see how to get round this.

Sounds like you have the heat sheilding missing from underneath. Unless the box is making some funny noises then I wouldnt worry about it.
-
Or even VW/Karmann themselves as I believe the one they have on show in Germany is a bit shoddy.
-
Do any of you have a exhaust leaks in the system. That could explain the popping if its on the overrun.
-
Gents, are we definitely on for the 19th Sept then for the RR day? Im looking at options for the Sunday day / night. If it is worth putting up a post in events section. If it not on then I can just travel down on the Sunday as the cars getting the Racelogic fitted on the Monday.

Great colour  . Put my standard rear light on after seeing your pics last week. Seem to suit the red better. Are you putting the side rubbing strips back on?
-
Screamer pipes are illegal are they not?
-
My tailpipe is covered in soot now, and it does smell a bit rich when booting it. Also the exhaust pops quite a bit (not loudly though) on overrun, would this suggest it's running rich too, with excess fuel being burnt in the exhaust? Check your spark plugs and see what there like.
-
MPG whats that? What mileage are you getting to say half a tank? Take the plusg out and check them, if there black/coked up then its running rich. Black soot in the tailpipe will show the same. Maybe just the lambda probe thats needing changed.

I saw one of those Mugen Mk2 ones yesterday. Didnt realise they are £38k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Wont look that great when the cars upside down in a ditch though!!

I use Motul stuff but cannot remember exactly. Unless you intend in doing trackdays and getting the fluid temp up a lot then any decent brand Dot 4 stuff should be ok.
-
Why would you need to go back to them? Is it not just a case of getting a new ECU and getting the keys coded etc?

Might be worth asking what discount they will give with say 5 orders. -
I dont trust someone that doesnt swear  .

Well done.

Sorry mate but this has been in my mind from the start, I even defaced my old VRT pate as those on the Scottish trip will testify.
-
I like them. I still think there in the "cool" phase where theres plenty of look at me people buying them. I bet if you get a slightly fettled TFSI version and through it at a B road it will leave a Corrado for dead. Most folk dont like tinkering with old cars and Ive often contemplated just going with something like this. I will own one, probably in a few years time.

On a standard VR, not really worth it.

1. First person to graduate from Dundee University this millenium, with a 1st I might add :camp: . 2. Despite riding bikes for 10+ years, crashing on the road twice and racing them as a hobby Ive only ever broken one finger. 3. I fought off a mugger on the remote russian Island of Sakhalin when hammered in only a shirt at -25C :cuckoo:

Cars running fine now. Was worried as I was still getting high boost spikes so thought Id investigate and found the wastegate line was split. Now sorted. Collected a few things today from the postie. First thing was the baffled sump from PurpleTom. 2nd I got myself a new silencer, what do you think? Lastly Ive put the original plate back on to blend in a bit more. Thought about airflow to intercooler and tried doing something with the original plate. Didnt think this was too good so ordered a relfective stick on plate which luckily came with a plastic corregated backing plate. Cut the letters out and cut the backing plate. Think it looks ok and shouldnt attract any attention unless someone is really looking for it.

TBH there not a huge amount better in the wet. Look in the Tyre discussion thread for whats hot and whats not.

Yeah I know. Luckily I did have a feeling that there was something not quite right so I only pushed it a few times to those pressures, mostly changing up around 15psi though.
