Breaking - '96 Blackbery VR6 Auto - *UPDATE 2* (first page)
coullstar replied to StueyB's topic in Cars for Breaking
What's the steering wheel like? -
For what Im looking at it will be around my budget as the cheaper cars all have some turn off. I have potential Std-ish blue Storm in great condition or a 96k miles std-ish blackberry in great condition to consider at the moment.
-
To be honest anything with decent spec and with usual things done like suspension and exhaust. Body in good condition and good service history. Preferably with chains at very minimum inspected or replaced. Ideally Id like a mystic blue storm if Im honest, something like Roger Chatfields old car. There are a few on the go that tick a lot of boxes but not jumping in yet.
-
He probably would but at current market so pointless. It would be £3500-4000 now maybe more when compared to some of the cars on the market at the moment. Try not to go back to cars once sold and I want to try different spec. Don't have his details anyway.
-
Still on the look out folks. £5500 is upper limit but leaves no extra so I'm not looking for anything at that price that need something fixed. If only I'd kept the silver one!
-
Mmm, so it looks like its double skinned almost from the inner lip. Looks like you'd need inner and outer bits repair properly then.
-
Okay thanks. Another question then if folks know but how hard a repair is it if that bit needs cut out?
-
Im trying to remember but how is the rear arch constructed especially around the rear leading edge? I know they are double skinned but at what point does this start? Anybody got a photo of a de-skinned rear arch on passengers side? Just trying to factor in potential repair costs. The area shown circled in the attached photo.
-
Ive agreed a deal on one Im afraid. This sounds like a very nice car, almost to nice for me...lol.

It's on eBay.
-
I got some more info this morning, its seems a decent enough car but yeah I suspected they were looking for that sort of money.
-
If those sizes are working for you just use them as a reference point. Offset is effectively dictate how far in or out of the arch the wheel sits for the same wheel width. Width also dictates that as well when combined with the offset. Main things are PCD is 4x100 and the centrebore is at least 57.1mm These days you can get adaptors for pretty much any wheel. I wouldn't go far from what you have, these best online calculator I found is this to show how wheels sit relative to each other. http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator You then need to factor in tyres to keep the same rolling radius as before.

Anyone know this car? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=222251044783 Lst MOT'd 10 years ago but then I believe NI don't have MOT's hence the big gap.
-
He's having a laugh, he knows he wont get that but using it as a start of negotiation if anyone is interested. Which if they are there mad. As said look at what other cars you can get for that sort of money.
-
What about insurance though? Did you tell them?
-
Just thinking about MOT and insurance if there was an option so at least Im covered.
-
Yep, no ABS at all I believe. Did any Corrado's come with no ABS? Just wondering what components will have been used.
-
Has anyone removed there ABS system that can offer feedback. Did you tell your insurance companies and if so what was the outcome? Im looking at a local car this week and the guy removed it after he had a lot of issues with the system. He has all the old parts so I might refit it or look at the Teves20 however in the meantime Id have to insure it until then.
-
I like them, I'm sure there good to drive.
-
Sadly no, I kicked ones ass in the RS4 once though lol.
-
Don't mind but yes I have a budget and sticking to it.
-
Long story short the 911 went this weekend to help pay for house improvements. Still have the RS4 and running a T5 Shuttle as a daily. Thinking about another but might get a Mk5 Golf Gti or something like that. Just seeing whats out there at the moment.
