  1. Ive done a few things to my previous cars and Ive come back to the conclusion that a mildy tweaked car is best of all. Id just put base interior back in have a good seat if your doing a lot of track days. If you go full on stripped, harness etc etc you may go to far in that direction and not use it as it is to loud, you cant get folks in the back etc etc If you mildy tweak it then It allows you to do everything and you have with no excuse to not use it. Must admit I always though the std front seats were good enough on track anyway.
  2. Estate version it is then, I think it looks brilliant.
  3. Used that for that last couple of years now, great tool.
  4. Not unless it had poor damage repair. Pretty much made my mind up if I ever get another it will be a Mystic Storm, only model Ive not owned.
  5. That's a fair achievement. Im nearly 40 and have just taken out a 25 year mortgage!! Only way to pay for the bloomin houses up here. As for the car Im struggling to see who would have paid £17k for it. Not as an investment anyway as it wont gain anything on that, certainly not in the next 5-10years IMO and you wouldn't want to use it that regularly so it will probably sit locked away somewhere. Maybe VW bought it and will sell of there worse for wear one that's at the museum.
  6. There's a difference between asking and getting. Anybody pays that there mad regardless of how nice a condition it is.
  7. This is pretty much the exact spec of car that I would buy if I was to get another.
  8. That what I would do it you have time and space. By the sounds of it the body is too far gone, I have a hatred of rust as its very hard to completely get rid off and unless properly removed it will come back. If you find another at least you would have a heap of spares.
  9. Quoting at the time articles has no relevance IMO. You could pull that sort of thing out about a lot of cars I bet that have now faded away. Im pretty sure if you asked Clarkson right now that if he had 10 cars to drive before he died he wouldn't name the Corrado. Theres no doubting it was a good at the time and still is. I agree with you all that its a brilliant and relatively unknown however its not going to be a cult car regardless of what you think. Remember we have Corrado blinkers on to some extent. I know people that think this about the relatively rare cars they have in that there going to be a proper classic. They will but only through age. Its a car that is greater than the sum of its parts but I kind of like the idea that its of out the limelight. Keep it that way I say so they do get looked after and used by those who love them rather than someone wanting an investment sticking it in a garage.
  10. It will be a classic within VW circles but that's it. It has no real pedigree to speak of, it wasn't the first of anything or that popular at the time so in general people don't get misty eyed about owning one like they do a Mk1 or maybe Mk2 Golf. I know there a great car and so does anyone that's owned one. All Im saying is don't expect prices to rocket, they may go up slightly or slowly but were not looking at £10k VR's in a year or so. That would be madness IMO. Enjoy them for what they are.
  11. Its very rear biased, don't know the split if Im honest though. Some folks refer to them as a C4 in a fancy frock, funnily enough its the C4 or C2 owners, lol.
  12. Yeah have to admit I wouldn't like to have one of these in a busy area. It would be wasted. I realize how lucky I am with the roads we can go play on.
  13. Hey guys, Im still lurking on here. Little update on the C4s, not really used it that much for a number of reasons. Managed to swap out the front splitter for a turbo one and took the car for drive but starting leaking coolant. Its the offside rad so currently up on axle stands waiting for a new one to turn up. Took the opportunity to fit a low temp thermostat (helps with preventing bore scoring), the parts are relatively cheap for these and there actually quite easy to work on. My god they use a lot of coolant though. Planning on using it a bit more so it also gave me a good opportunity to coat a lot of front/arches etc in Dinitrol.
  14. One thing you'll notice is how much busier it is down there especially when you get around Manchester or south. I understand why your moving and TBH its probably a good idea at the moment. I often look at house prices etc and its still mental what you can get elsewhere for what your budget compared to Aberdeen. Have you thought about even just a little further south like Dundee or Central belt so close proximity to Glasgow or Edinburgh? From what Ive seen and experienced any of the nicer places down south that are relatively close to big cities are still quite expensive. Id say find somewhere that had a diverse job or industry catchment so you don't suffer from the issue that Aberdeen has.
  15. The more I drive mine the more I love it, there certainly not something you can jump in and drive flat out straight away. Just when you think your pushing it, it doesn't even break sweat. I cant imagine what speeds you must have to do to unsettle a GT3 etc.
  16. Lol that's quite funny as I didn't like the 997 interior as the dash was to square and it didn't seem like a Porsche. It just felt like any generic sportscar inside. Slightly agree on the asthetics hence why I went for the C4s but then the 997 C2 was quite uninspiring that I tried. Horses for course an all that.
  17. Ive had my 996 C4s for a month or so and managed to give it a good blast at the weekend. Simply brilliant, such an awesome car. There will be things quicker in all terms but the overall feeling, built quality, steering, power etc is such a well honed package. A turbo must be awesome but Ive heard the miss out on the noise aspect which I think you really need, when wound up they sound sublime.
  18. It was from them yes. The turbo is about the going rate now. He actually warned me of them a little as he said there a nightmare to work on as everything is stuffed in. C4s is 3.6 with about 320bhp. Fast enough with that.
  19. So had the 996 for a couple of weeks now but not had a lot of time to try it out. However I did drive it 500+ miles back home from picking it up in Bath. Its amazing, I love it and I can see why people get hooked on them. Its feels faster than I thought it would and sound lovely when you wind it up even with the std exhaust fitted. I might get a slightly louder exhaust fitted but otherwise nothing needs changed at all. It certainly feels special. Couple of photos from the advert as I don't have good ones yet.
  20. I was tempted, not missing owning one though so didn't pursue it.
  21. What Ive found is also trying to sell anything more than say about £15k privately is quite hard even with cars that shouldn't be easier to sell. There was another site I found that was basically like WBAC but open to trade and I got quite a few good offers through it. That was a few years back. Try places like this as well as they offered me decent money for my S4. http://www.revitupuk.com/
