Oh and its got a really annoying lights on buzzer, that will be getting ripped out!!!
-
So yep Ive done it again, this is No.8. With the 911 sold my budget was for something cheaper, 4 seats, boot for dog and rare/cool....only one thing for its then a Mystic blue Corrado Storm mainly as its the only model Id never owned and also as its a unique colour to the Storm. Id agreed a deal on another one but due to a few reasons that fell through. This came up about the same time and whilst initially it wasn't a good from a mechanical/modded point of view the bodywork seems a lot better and had just had some work body done so decided to go for it site unseen so to speak. So yes Id not actually seen the car in the metal but speaking with the owner and seeing some receipts it looked good. After agreeing a deal I found a for sale add from couple of years ago after googling the number plate and it came up with some good history. I got the car trailered up today and took it for a quick run tonight. Few little issues to sort out but nothing to worry about. It seemed to running cold and fans coming in early but just checked paperwork and it has neuspeed stat and switch fitted so I think I'll swap them back to OEM as not really required on Scotland. Id forgotten how crap the standard shifter is!!! Plans are to run it for a week or so and see what pops up then coast underside/wheel arches. Maybe look at replacing some bits after that if all is well. Photos are from previous owner as Ive only seen it in the dark so far, lol. Its a good base car. Spec 15k miles ago, currently on 139k. New vag headlamp lens, New vag fogs / indicators Stainless fasteners used where possible New vag radiator with fan plastics - Flushed and g12+ refilled New fan switch, thermostat, thermostat housing complete all vag (these must have been switched for neuspeed) New front engine mount vibratechnics Other engine mounts new vag parts New ign coil and leads, New premium plugs New vag bonnet sound insulation Magnetic sump plug Machined large bore throttle body ReMapped and 4 Wheel Alignment done by Vince at Stealth racing to 201bhp Milltek catback stainless exhaust supplied and fitted by Stealth Golf VR6 Front brakes (288mm) Calipers were stripped down de-rusted, new seals, and repainted black, and new stone guards Front discs EBC ultimax with red stuff pads Goodridge Braided front hoses Koni adjustable ride shocks with H&R lowering springs to 35mm New top mounts, drop links, track rod ends, ball joints. New wishbone bushes front and rear, rears are solid TT bushes New Bosch Aux water pump New cam cover breather valve DG Auto Tech Uprated Headlight Loom Lupo wiper arm conversion New VAG gear knob New VAG handbrake handle Re-leathered Steering wheel New roof aerial New VAG front spoiler New VAG badges front and rear New roof lining All electrics work fine, including heated seats and sunroof

Got a photo of all 4?
-
I considered this one as it seemed a bargin.
-
If that's with rattle cans that's a great job!
-
Sorted now, agreed a deal on the Blue Storm last night. Did have another one lined up but deal fell through for a few reasons. Timing just not right for both parties, shame as it was a cool car.
-
Would you post it? How much?
-
Bugger, if its not your fault then you can insist to get it fixed cant you? If not buy it back, it will be a CatD then but as long as you have photos etc to show damage then shouldn't effect it to much.

Its seems decent lock smiths the correct gear will be around £100 to code and make new key. Alarm fob will be £50 assuming PIN is there so £150 all in to get new key set up.
-
Okay found this - http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer_I_Key_Matching_(Separate) As far as I know Corrado will have 4 digit code. I think you need Vag-tach to get this code though sonit can be done with Vag-tacho and Vag-com it would seem. Is there a good source for spare blanks with the chips or is this dealer only?
-
Could i just remove transponder from current key and tape it to barrel then have another key cut without having to code? Obviously immobiliser is then redundant.
-
Thanks, good to hear. I've only experience with the Cobra one and it was a pain. Hopefully the alarm pin is there so I can reprogrammed new fob if required.
-
Does look good with those wheels.
-
Spoke to a local auto-electrician who reckons a new key + coding should be easy to do. I mentioned the alarm and he said just take it out. Im thinking the same as they are more hassle then there worth IMO.
-
Ive been told by some I can go into Vag com - engine and adaptions, then erase learnt values for the keys. After that it should read the new keys and start. Will the alarm (Toad I believe) likely bypass the current immobiliser making it redundant though?
-
Looking at a car that has one key (95reg) and a Toad alarm. I'm trying to figure out costs to replace the standard key with programming included so has anyone done this recently? I'm also wondering if the key will need programmed as will the aftermarket alarm/immobiliser cut out the factory one so I'd need to just get a new alarm fob?

As above anyone in Sheffield that could do me a favour? PM me please and I'll explain.

Whats the centre console like, the bit that holds radio/heater control etc? -
Lol yeah. Hopefully get it in a couple of weeks but grill is a plain one at the moment which there is no problem with but thought Id try get a std Storm one.
-
As above, anyone have a late front grill they would sell? Ideally looking for one that's painted and in mystic blue i.e. a Storm front grill.

You've got to remember that a lot of people don't know who Chris was so the providence doesn't really mean anything on this car other than to people who knew him or are involved in this forum. That's a select few in real terms. The fact that it has original paint, history, condition etc is probably a bigger thing. I still cant see how they are worth that sort of money even one as nice as this. Current prices have been pulled up because of cars like this but in reality 99% of the other on the market are not even close to the condition of this car so IMO its over inflating the market at the moment or at very least asking prices. £10k tops for this car, offer him that, they will reject but I bet in 2-3 months time when its still sitting there they will consider it. You have to remember that just because they are asking these prices doesn't mean they are selling. Does anyone know of a private seller that has paid 5 figures for one? It all seems to be dealers that are paying that sort of figure then bumping them up. Don't get me wrong if the prices are genuinely on the rise then I'll be happy as Im hoping to get another in the next couple of weeks but I really don't see massive increases in the near future.

So I sold my 996 C4s couple of weeks ago and was speaking to a few friends and said Id be looking for another Corrado as a cheaper alternative. They mentioned rusty bolts, rusty car slower etc etc which in reality is probably the case. The amount of times Ive complained in the past to them about older cars I was starting to question getting another and get something a bit newer like a Mk5 Gti Golf as they are some amazing bargins on the go. Anyway started looking at some vids on youtube and found this, I think it sums it up very well, its makes you feel like a kid again. I found I was driving the 996 at some daft speeds to get the thrill from it and thought something slower would be perfect. Hope you enjoy, I kind of like the simplistic way he puts it across. Dude!!

I think you just take it off and it get assigned the original plate. You can then transfer or sell on the old plate. I suspect that's worth about £200 or so if that.
