djmac56's Golf n Corrado - bye Corrado, Hello Aston! Pics P7!

I recently had some 7x16in with 215/40's on and the wheels looked lost in the arches however your car is lower so it might look ok. I think 205/45/16's are closer to the 205/50/15's are they not? -
By the looks of it mate you're not the only one! Surely your insurance company could wriggle out of stumping up the cash if your V5 docs didn't match the cars current engine or am I being overly paranoid? Good news that the insurance didn't change much, might get a couple of 'what if' quotes before I actually start work on mine. Nah I made sure I told them that the engine has been replaced with a 4motion one so they know the engine code will not match the V5 doc.

Like the intake pipe, does the filter not hit the bonnet though? -
Satin Silver is easily the best colour for the Corrado. Love it and always will. Just wish I waited till one came up when I was buying. Love this car.

You can thank me (I think). Im glad your getting is back into shape.
-
Dont forget the rear lights.
-
I know there not suppose to be taken seriously but they are all truely awful.

Theres a guy that is selling one locally and Im tempted as I fancy a daily with a bit more poke plus it has the necessary towbar and decent boot. It the estate version UK model. Its got about 100k miles but it is completely standard (and would stay that way) so shouldnt have fallen into the wrong hands. Just had a new clutch and service. Just wondering if anybody has owned one or heard of serious issues. Im presuming a cambelt change is a bit of a bugger. I would like some objective views hence why Im asking here. Only issue I can see is insurance as it would go on my 2nd car NCB, only 1 year.
-
Thats a good question. Never thought about it, I have done nothing as of yet with regards to the DVLA. Insurance wasnt really much of an issue, didnt really change that much. You just have to make sure you will get current value for such a car.

It obviously has the Aberdeen tax added though.. I saw it the other day and started thinking until I saw thr price.

I think you might be right - -
Its the usual brace bar on the standard calipers that there rubbing on. Only needs a mm or two.
-
New wheels on. Seem ok, no rubbing and fill the arches. Glad to have some sticky tyres as well. Very very close to the front calipers with a tiny bit of rubbing on RHS caliper so a bit of shaving is in order I think. All I need now is a 90mm spoiler.
-
How much roughly was it?
-
Anyone posted the front spoiler / splitter? What did you use to protect it and who did you use? Just wondering best way to go about it?
-
That fact he uses "coz" and the "if your into Golfs you'd know" lines leads me to believe he doesnt know himself.
-
Just like your old one eh  I take it you were missing it. Wheels are Santa Monica and were available on the Mk4 Golf as an option. If there originals then they should be fairly light as well and 7in wide. The replicas are 7.5in wide. Oh and i'll have your front spoiler of you if your selling it.

Does look very nice, amazing finish. Just take it outside to get the real colour to show.

Well goods mornings work for me. Managed to get the alternator replaced along with OE serpentine belt :) . I did it by looseing the front mount and getting it out to the side. Very tight and had to bend the old airbox bracket over but it worked. Healthy 14.5v now however there is a lead free that for the life of me I cannot find a connection for. I did not unconnect it so I think its been loose all the time. The rectifier (?) on the old alt only had one plug but the new one has two however this lead does not connect to it. Car runs fine without it as well. Still got the 16in Audi wheels on for the moment as Ive sprayed the 17in silver. Not a bad job with rattle cans. Will leave them to dry and throw them on. Also replaced the rear brakes on my Mk4 so it been a busy morning.
-
I would be if it could drive!!! :(
-
Ive already started. Currently sitting on axle stands and trying to decide if i can get the alternator out without taking the bumper and radiator out, doesnt look promising. Need to check ABS rings on the back so rear disc etc are coming off. Painting new wheels and replacing the rear brakes on my Mk4. Hopefully all goes well, for a change.
-
Do you have a socket set to try other sizes? Id do that first but they must be some oddball size. Most are 17mm.
-
Right guys Im hopefully replacing the alternator this weekend and will replace the serpentine belt while Im at it. Im away from the car at the moment and I was just wondering about if the belt is the same for the 4motion with or without AC as my car doesnt have it? Edit - ok Ive found a 1264 belt, 6 groove. Is that what other guys have used?

Cars looking good. Well done on all the work. Real shame about the gearbox and your injuries. Sometimes you really think people dont give a shit about each other. Id sue and Im not one of those types either. Funny you should say about the exhaust as Im looking to to the same.
