Will a G60 Cat fit a VR6? Looking at new ones today and they were the same code number? Ive got a local guy with one from a G60 and he doesnt need it so i could get his for mine.

Ok my first MOT is looming after the 24v conversion and Im hoping to get prepped for it in the next week or so. However Im confused as to what limits/rules my car will tested under. Speaking to a friend he said that since the car was never available with this engine then I dont need to run a CAT. I thought it would go by chassis age (94) so I would need a CAT so I phoned the place doing it and they said for emissions it will be the engine age that is the limit, which sounds like crap to me. Anybody been in this situation. I have a decat fitted and dont want to remove if necessary. sorry this should have been in the engine section. Mods feel free to move.

Quite right, thats my opinion. So glad i got rif of my tractor golf.

Simple answer as far as Im aware is no. You will have to cut the bumper.
-
Nope, bought some RK's although they look like they might be a pain to fit with special spigots etc.

New daily. Gave it a wash and polish today. 1.8t with a few extras. Handles not too bad with Koni suspension. Sitting a bit low at the rear as its got the new wheels sitting in the back. Just need to figure out spigot ring sizes as the centre bore is massive on them (82mm!!)

You should be banned for asking that question....no contest. MO's

I got my new steed tonight. 1.8t Passat B5 estate with Konis and revo remap, confirmed 188bhp, 231 lb/ft on 95ron. Really good condition as well. Bargin price, all it needs is a nice set of wheels to set it off. Going to do the brakes and get the oil pump/pick up done for piece of mind. No photos yet as it needs a wash and polish but Ive got these for some inspiration.

Coxys R32 4 Motion Corrado - On the Road!!!!

Yeah I had adjustable tie bars on my S3 to help with this. Just make sure you protect the thread on them as mine had seized. -
Shoe die.

Whats the Passat like with the 18in? Im getting one soon as a daily and I was looking at 17in as I thought 18in would look to big.
-
Mr Manson's by any chance? I'd have got the Octavia. Get a black one, stick a tall boot mounted aerial on it and everyone will think you're the fuzz and move over :) Yep, at least I know its been looked after. Will maybe give him some more room to get that Rallye finished.
-
Better get mine on soon then.

Towbars are great bumper protectors. Towing race bikes is slightly better than a caravan 8)
-
Well I had a shot of the VRS last night. Nice car, interior mst be a bitch to keep clean. Boot is good but I didnt find it all that fast. Didnt make my mind up. Going to look at an older 1.8T Passat estate tonight that has had a few tweeks. Always liked these cars and to be honest its really an estate that would suit better. Should be able to sell the Golf, buy the Passat and get the obligitary new set of wheels  plus it already has a towbar.
-
Thanks for the reply. I know what there like, Ive had an S3 and Leon Cupra R. I just wanted something that was going to be a bit more exciting then the Golf. Fuel costs for the year are about £450 bewteen the two. Thats less than a tenner a week, so Im not bothered.
-
This forum is like a refugee camp for my old wheels  They are light mind you.
-
Yeah its the Mk1 1.8T. Seem very cheap at the moment. Found one with 40kmiles for just over £4k although saying that there seems to be a wide range of asking prices for them. Was looking at Mk5 Golf tdi's or maybe 3series estate but I drove home tonight and there just ten a penny. Cannot remember the last time I saw a VRs TBH. Thats what im after and its a good two fingers up at the badge snobs as well. Just hope I can get a towbar for them.
-
Ok, Im still looking at replacements for the Golf and didnt realise the Octavia is a hatchback so Im considering them now. Anybody run one before that could point out possible issue? I know the engine so Im not fussed with that, its more Octavia or VRs specific issues.
-
Bad news but remember at the end of the day they are just cars. More to life.

Anybody run a UK model early Impreza turbo?
coullstar replied to coullstar's topic in General Car Chat
Ah sod that, stupid running something like that. Going to look at a Mk5 Golf Tdi 4motion tomorrow. Once remapped it should fit the bill I think. Had a 140 before but it was crap to drive in the winter due to the torque, hopefully the 4motion should sort this plus it already has a towbar for towing the race bike. Does it sound like Ive talked myself into it already  . -

Id go with 205/45's. They are the closest to the standard 15in diameter. 205 on a 7in is perfect. -
Cool, amazing the difference isnt it. Really need to get my 288's fitted.
