Where did you buy this? Looks good on the BBS.

Must have missed it but what was up with the old engine and how many miles were on it? What condition were the chains in themselves? I know mine are probably like that as well, just dont want to look!!!
-
Have you checked your plugs to see what condition they are in? I find that gives you a good idea on how the engine is running and if all cyclinders are the same. Quick and easy to do. Out of interested did you notice much difference with the P&P head?

He is on a local VW forum but never comes on. I dont think he will change much if anything at all when I last spoke to him. Ive never seen it since I sold it and TBH I dont want to as I know I'll want it back.

Between other duties today I managed to give the Speedlines a quick paint to spruce them up. Used some BMW paint I had lying about, seems a good match for the OE colour. I dare not type this but Im running out of things to do on this. -
Nice, were these the ones on the maroon one on ED38?

From my experience with modified corrados and with the 1.8T, 24v engines (Ive owned mapped S3's, LCR's, 4mo Golfs and the list in my sig) I will say without doubt the best all round engine from the lot is the 2.8 24v. Nice and punchy low down, not really any worse than a 1.8T on fuel, sounds so much better, still pulls to the redline and keeps the overall VR character of the car. Im not dissing the other motors, they are good at what they do, I just think overall this is the best. A turbo'd 24v would be ideal IMO and I really dont see how it can dissapoint you Kev when its done, it will be awsome.

Unless the engine is showing signs of going pop Id just leave it as is. Ive been down the engine swap road and its a lot of money or PITA if you do it yourself for not much gain plus it takes away from the cars originality. These days that counts for a lot now unless the cars a keeper. Look on it as an oppurtunity to get in about the engine and do some maintainence.

Ive just fitted some AP coilovers to my car and it had relatively new standard stuff on before. I am pleasantly surprised at how little difference there is in ride quslity and the coilovers themselves appear to be good quality. The threads are nice big square acme type, none of the horrible v-threads. Very easy to fit and adjust, come with instructions (which I naturally only read after fitting them) and an adjustment spanner. Very good budget coilover @ £320 delivered to my door as part of group buy but I would pay the full £390 if I had too.

Is this the Inpro rear lights?

Trackscotland.

First corner changed but that was last winter if I remember right. Open pit for 4hours is the deal.

Ive done plenty of trackdays just not with a standard car so I wasnt wanting to go out and be back in after 5-6 laps with no brakes. Oil temp of no higher than 128deg!!!! Just shows the beenfit of an oil cooler as my turbo didnt even reach 110deg on the track and it was right in front of the intercooler and rad. Tyres are all Vredsteins with lods of tread, anybody muck about with tyre pressures to stop undue wear? It Knockhill so quite tight and twisty but as I said there is two heavy braking points right after each other. Oh well they have increased the run off at the first corner so should be that bad..... Wy906, if it were me Id do Cadwell, its the best track in the UK. On a bike anyway.
-
Not really, thats about the right price. I would say wheels alone would close to £700 on there own. Id be very tempted if they were a bit wider.
-
Problem with Knockhill is there are two heavy braking points one after another. I struggled last year with the 6 pots on the turbo but then I suppose I wont be going near as quick as that was.
-
Thinking about doing a track day with the new car and running the standard wheels (205/50/15) tyres and 280mm brakes. Any trackday Ive done before has been with bigger wheels and better brakes so who has taken an essentially standard VR on the track and what issues did you have? Oil temp Im assuming is an issue as well. I should have my baffled sump fitted before going. Im mainly worried about the brakes to be honest as I can see them going off quite quickly. At present I have Brembo max discs and pads fitted.

Add a turbo and it sounds appealing. 5cly turbo, the noise of perfection.
-
Just remove it, I would not normally say this but my old one didnt have one and I never found it a problem. Just make sure you add some rain-x to the rear screen. Looks a lot neater as well.

PM me with more info please.

Interested in the tyres. How old are they are?

Thanks, couldnt tell you about the inlet paint, that might need some level of heat resistance. -

Paint was just some I had lying about in the garage, just normal stuff. PLugs were from ebay. To be honest I dont find a huge difference between 16's and 17's and 17's look so much better. Id rather run a normal offset reasonable wide wheel than something with low offset and very wide no matter what the diameter. -
Yes, no real other way to do it to keep a fairly short route. A heat sheild and some heat wrap on the pipe will make a big difference.
