If its for a standard car dont bother with the hassle, it doesnt really make that much difference. Stick with an OE one.
  2. Impressive route, a lot of 80's hatches there. Have been in a driven most, 205 was probably the purist but sod having even the smallest of bumps in them. There is a reason they are quick... Anyway there is a thread going about with folks previous cars on here somewhere. I cant believe some folk have had the same car for 13years. Im VW biased on mine as you can see: 1.3 Mk2 Golf 8v Mk2 Gti 16v Polo 8v Corrado G60 Corrado VR6 Mk3 Golf 8v Mk2 Gti 16v Corrado 16v Corrado VR6 Mk3 Golf 4motion Golf Tdi Mk5 Golf Leon Cupra R S3 Mk4 Tdi + Corrado VR6 Passat 1.8T + Corrado VR6 4mo Golf + Corrado 24V VR Mk4 Tdi + Corrado VR6T Mk5 Golf Gti + Corrado VR6T
  3. Wasnt too bad as your not really increasing the power. Just make sure they realise the work thats gone into the car. It was easy for me as I had the reciept for the work. Best to check first.
  4. They will fit spot on mate, Id still like a set for mine as they look great. You will need 205/40/17 tyres though.
  5. Just finished watching WALL-E   . What a great little film, you can tell Im easily pleased.
  6. Im going to start biking to work I think, only to get fit mind you and not be stuck on traffic everyday.
  7. Is public transport that much cheaper? Probably not and until it is then I will be using my car.
  8. Not sure on price but that is a lovely colour.
  9. Personally Ive found lowering the car more than about 45mm mucks up the handling therefore unless your spending big bucks on fully adjustable coilovers I would stick to shocks and springs. Its a form or function decision for you Im afriad, do you want it slammed or just lowered a reasonable amount.

First thing I did when I bought my old green one was get full cover. Anyone that runs a VRT without full cover is asking for trouble. I always have oil, coolant, spare leads and my tools in the car.
  11. There was not a huge difference. Best I had was 400miles out of a full tank.
  12. Previous owner was username Hatcha by the way.
  13. Why would you want to do that? The 2.8 24v has more power and torque as standard than the 2.9 12v. a simple remap should see min 220bhp with similar torque figures.
  14. That was sold on here to the guy in Inverness who also had a few threads. IIRC he had a few little issues with the car when he first got it. Wheels look good, my mates looking for a sey for his Boxter S if you change your mind about fitting them. They really are love and hate cars.
  15. Wasnt that blue one was it from Inverness? Definitely need to get a Scottish Owners meet organised this year.
  16. My conversion was basically £4k but that was a couple of years ago and for a 2.8l. I loved the car and would still buy it back if offered, in fact I should have kept it and put that 6spd box in. That was from PSI and Im pretty sure at that time they said £1200-1500 was the engine and as said above you can now pick them up a lot cheaper. Mechancially the conversion is straightforward, its th loom that baffled me. Never driven a R32 one but can only see that being the same with more poke.

Wasnt too bothered by the wait if im honest and at least Ive managed not to break my record of never needing towed home since I started driving. Thanks for the offer, I'll let you know. Im looking at other options at the moment like the one from GT3turbo with v-band flanges on.

Got the CAT material out but Ive kept the silencer in. Heat wrapped the lower section of the downpipe as its damn near the steering rack. Decided to take the car for a run as its not been out for a good few weeks and whilst waiting at a car wash there was a massive plum of coolant steam from under the bonnet. Turns out the lower flange hose on the thermstat housing had snapped off completely. Called RAC, told 45min wait. An hour later they still hadnt arrived so I tried bodging it myself. I managed to get the hose on the stub and tested it with cap on for 10min before heading home. Just got home for the RAC to call and say they will be another 2hrs :cuckoo: . Dont know why I pay for them!! On a plus side the car did feel like it was pulling better and Ive found the next turbo for the car below  . Im still missing old greeny TBH as I never had to worry about it.
  19. Might be interested in the rear but not fussed about carbon one.
  20. Do a search on the cable as its been covered loads of times. Its easy to replace, it just feeds in from behind the fuse box and into the bay. You just need to spend a little time adjusting it. I put some long nose pliers down the hole and pull the handle to double check the latches move before shutting the bonnet.
  21. A metallic blue is one of the best colours for a Corrado so Id agree. Those are 18in A8 Fat Fives on the other car.
  22. My 24v only had a single cat, 2.5in Techtonics and two silencers and sounded perfect. Just the right amount of noise without being obtrusive.
