i dont do much motorway driving, but travelled to & from glasgow today along the M8, so maybe this is just normal behaviour fro m'way drivers. i was amazed /bewildered at how many people undertake. yep maybe its the person who is sitting at 55 in the outside lane who is the reason for their frustration but those who undertake are just as bad IMO. if it was the chavs in their 1.1 corsa it wouldnt surpise me, but judging from the car types, it really seemed to be people who should know better. :? small rant over. on a better note the C never missed a beat. :)

theres a few around :) enjoy looking for the right C !!

cheers for the info. certainly some stuff to think on :?

there is numerous info on the exhaust thread. i have cat back on mine (2l 16 V) it is only slightly louder than standard and not really much diff on m'way speed. the fit is superb but mines isnt lowered. v pleased.

Hi my exhuast manifold is cracking and heat sheild on down pipe is rusting and rattling on my 2l 16 v. i was thinking of upgrading to a stainless steel manifold and was wondering what any other valver guys would recommend. i had a look at the wiki and read that TSR manifold was a popular choice. from what i understand this removes the cat as well, although a boss for the lamba probe is welded to pipe so it can be retained. i was under the impression that as my valver is 1994 that the cat would need to retained for emissions etc ??. sorry but bit confused. thoughts and any other recommendations appreciated. :? cheers

sounds pretty like a wheel bearing. i just had one front done, prompted by the peristant droning noise in a straight line, with little diff on cornering. I think ? sometimes when its getting more worn its becomes more obvious when driving in straight line. Coulsd also be both fronts are going and noise difficult to localise to which one?

cheers for the comments everyone. currently on look out for some estorils .... watch this space cheers Nice thought Bill ! but having just coughed up for the exhaust and service the car pot is now dry for the next few months :( .

Hi all another newbie, so i thought it about time i posted some pics of the C, a 94 2l 16V with 119000mls, and pretty good SH. i wanted one of these for a long time and eventually got her 11months ago. previous Vw inlcuded mk1 rivage cab for 3 years and laterly a VR6 mk3 golf. The C is pretty standard other than for: snorkel out of airbox, K&N panel filter, ss magnex cat back, lupo wipers and rather naff 5 spoke alloys (IMO) put on by the prvious seller. bonus in that all electrics work other than heater lights. had a fair bit dpone since got her: rear axle bushes, front wishbone bushes, lamba probe, cam chain, discs/pads, all above mods, front engine mount. near future plans: estoril alloys, coilovers - perhaps, wheel bearings soon. alternative plans: spend what i need to only and save for the VR6 cheers ETKA Corrado.pdfDSCF0058.JPG[/attachment:702b7] ETKA Corrado.pdfDSCF0058.JPG[/attachment:702b7] Corrado92.pdfDSCF0057.JPG[/attachment:702b7] passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfDSCF0061.JPG[/attachment:702b7] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfDSCF0064.JPG[/attachment:702b7] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfDSCF0069.JPG[/attachment:702b7] DSCF0060.JPG[/attachment:702b7]

sounds crazy i know, but first time buyer and prices round here are v expensive as you know. its one thing paying to keep a C running so i suppose its s a bit paying a mortgage!! Yeah looks good in silver just pity its not a VR. cant recall seeing a G60 locally must be missing each other in such a big place !! although there was one for sale in cupar a few months back. Where in the East Neuk are you? currently in St Andrews but moving to colinsburgh in couple of weeks. where are you based ? Nobody moves to Colinsburgh from St. Andrews    I stay in St.Andrews, just sold my G60 last month, on the look out for another VR, havent seen your car about, they look good in silver

likewise i be keen for any suggestions as mine are the same and have checked all the same things as you :?: steve 1994 16V

Hi i am newbie to the forum although have owned as election of VW incluidng Mk1 Rivage cab, VR6 golf. after several years of waiting finally got my C, 2l 16V L plate 10 months ago. great car, but not without some issues (which appears to be the case with most) car steering all fine when got, was on 17" alloys when bought it and is still. has had front wishbone and rear axel bushes replaced early on after getting. Then developed v wobbly steering wheel at low speed + clunk on driving off. got front alignment and balance checked but no diff in fact maybe worse after alignment check, albeit by KF only. eventaully 2 new front tyres and new front engine mount helped massively but over last 6 weeks there is still a slight wobble felt through the car at low speed although not really much movement in steering wheel at this speed. as speed up wobble goes but still vibration through sterring wheel getting worse as get 60 plus. thoughts : rear tyre issue, front wheel alignmnet etc ????????? passed MOT 4 months ago no issue, and had new rack approx 18 mnths ago. grateful for any help/suggestions as its driving me crazy. :?

Thinking of buying a mk1 Golf cab - advice please

hi, i had a 1991 rivage for about 3 years, and if i was being honest it was probably the best vw i have had (others mk 2, Mk3 VR6 and now raddo 16V). beware though not all rivage's come with power steering and beige leather. watch folr the hood at the side just back form the rear windows, where it folds as this can wear through, alos watch for probs at roof seal, both seemed to be common probs when i was looking for a good one. i used it as every day car and not infrequently for trips up/down M6 from scotland to liverpool and incredibaly relaible, cheap to run and insure if good secuirty on it. It took me some time to get engine set up right when i got it, but when it was the old 1.8 8V GTI was a great engine, esp low down the revs.
