I presume its the part number of this tool. what do the caps look like ? Are they like the newer vw ones with the hole in the centre ?

Was wondering about the following: what colour should the slam panel bolts be that attach to the front part of the wing did the wheel nuts ever have any coverings i.e plastic caps I am correct in thinking that there was a VR plug lead removal tool that attched to the bonnet stay ? Factory colour of brake calipers & carriers Anal questions I know  , but I am sure someone will have the answers cheers

you get her fixed yet bill ?

Still waiting Steve, Jim is on holiday this week, so its just Brian and one other guy, he was gonna run some tests later yesterday, so hopefully will hear today  Was hoping to have it back for Kames at the weekend, you going? Nightmare Bill, sounds like the are progressing through the list of likley causes. Hopefully they will get there soon. Cant make it at the W/E on call. Shame looks as though it would be good. Did a wander round at Biggar last Sunday. Can't get the raddo out just now as although it got its MOT last week, it has no tax or insurance (+ a brake fluid leak after new rear flexis last week for its MOT!)

Hey Bill, just wondering how things were going with the C ?
-
Sorry, cant offer any constructive comments Bill, just hope it tuns out a straightforward fix given whats already been done.
-
looks real nice. Good luck with the MOT
-
good news, just needs two rear brake flexis ! it was great to actually drive it again after it being laid up for a while.
-
well after a winter of fiddling with it (does that sound wierd !) its MOT time tommorow. Have fixed up what i found to be an issue and checked for nothing silly, but being the pessimist i am I fully suspect it will fail on something, bit worried about the emissions as it has been sat for so long, so it will get a good blast on route there. on the up side, looking forward to driving it for the first time in nearly 8 months  must post up pics at some point.

yeah i used it to re-wrap some of my loom. It was a good match for he OEM stuff that was there already.

cheers for the thoughts guys, always good to get some others feelings

some thoughts please. My VR has done 149,000. I bought it ~ 18 months ago. I'd wanted a VR raddo for years and am happy with this one, gradually replacing /refurbing bits over time. Its a project car not a daily. Anyway its a bit tappety when cold which pretty much goes after a few mins, doesn't sound too 'chainy'. From the history it had the head off at 129K had valve stem seals done & upper chain guides deifnatley done and i pressuming the tensioner was done to but chains were not. it drives well and doesnt seem to use much oil, but to fair it didnt see much driving last year so i cant really be sure if it is or not. I guess i got to wondering about getting the chains etc checked and replaced if ness / clutch replaced etc, but although i a no mechanic, i reckon there will be other internal wear as well given the mileage & to be fair they may have looked ? ok when the other work was done. I feel that doing the chains etc may be in some respects a bit of 'faulse economy' as i would be worried that having spent all that cash, the bottom could go a bit later on ? Anyway given my feelings i would rather just keep up with its servicing and when / if i defo get lots of noise or it breaks just look at sourcing a rebuilt replacement engine. I dont do may miles a year in it & have no intention to sell it . Does this sound mad or sensible I cant quite decide  sorry for the ramble

MOT ? not sure yet. It should be ready to go, once the tail gate goes on. Just got to tweak the rear bearings as I haven't checked them since i put them on in Sept and may rebleed the brakes as still an bit spongy since i fitted the rear calipers. Really just need to get it MOT'd do i can get it to the paint shop for the last bit of painting. Know what you mean about the front end, collected all me parts for shot balsting and coating, and about to order all the bushes, etc. all going well this phase should be finshed by July.. funds allowing. Who up your way would do the engine rebuild ?

Truely stunning

Looking good Paul. The interior looks good ! It definately goes better with the black door cards. Did you get starting issues sorted out ? get my boot lid back from the painter this weekend, so MOT time soon, might actually get to drive it soon.
-
cheers, seems it is not just me then.

anyone else having problems getting into the parts catalogue ?
-
I got roof strips last week from VW, just took 2 days to arrive. Alos got new number plate surround few months back, but did recall the parts guy saying there were only a few left in UK, otherwise need ordered in form germany.

not quite sure what you mean, but if you mean removing the black trim piece then prise out the mirror glass, it clips onto a central circular mechanism within the mirror. there is a small phillips screw on the underside of the mirror that secures the black trim on the outside. Then with the mirror glass removed you will see 4 screws that hold the metal inner workings of the mirror together. you will see which ones you need to remove to allow removal of the balck trim. hope this is of some help ?

i have of these on my rado vr6. was on when i bought it & from what i can find in the history it was fitted a good few years ago. Its lasted well. it started blowing in the centre esction, so i contacted long life they fixed it up and then transferred the lifeftime warrenty over. It looks ok, but not as nice as my magnex looked on ny last raddo. it aint too noisy but i guess you can get them to mae it as quiet or as loud as you want and you should be able to chice your tali pipe to something that you want.
-
sounds like a bit of a nightmare Paul :( . Sorry i cant offer any helpful advice, but i am sure you will get it sorted.
-
all those parts should still be available from VW (i very recently purchased them) do a google search for www.vagcat.com register then use the catalog to search for the part no.s
-
congratulations ! it must be a great feeling having invested so much time and thought etc, into putting this together. a bit off track, but any info on the wiper motor cover that you have on this ? cheers
-
thanks for that supercharged.

Hi, sad i know, but there are numerous cable ties which hold the wiring loom in place on the bulkhead & inner wings. They include a mount which attaches to the weld pins in these area. i have scoured Vagcat & cant find a part number for them. Can anyone help ? Cheers
