if its the window seal rubber that run along the top of the door at the bottom of the window (as in your pick) they are still available from VW and not on back order. ordered one last week & it was there in 2-3 days. £44.46 (with a bit of discount got it at 38.91 + vat. worth replacing if your painting. In my limited experience they all bend and are difficult to get to re-seat properly if you re-use them. part no.s: driver side W535 837 474 A pass side W535 837 473 A hope this helps

METTALIC BLACK VR6 CORRADO STOLEN ON FRIDAY NIGHT
stevej replied to Timbo's topic in General Car Chat
nightmare ! will keep my eyes open over here -
just £ 295 ... dealership offered me it today on a LR disco 3, sure he said it was an extra £395 or £495, I cant quite remember I was so shocked

With regards to point 4, my experience was as Jim's. Also had to renew the brake lines (hard & flexis) as the were so corroded i could not get them undone. If you end up wanting or needing to to re-new the hard lines that run to the brake compenstaor they can be difficult to get off from it to. might be worthwhile doing the rear brakes, back plates etc if you are swapping them around, guess just depends of how far you want to go. Oh and get a hand i removed and replaced mine on my own, using the trolley jack to get it in back into place.... it was a real PITA !

cheers guys, had another look at the bently and found another bit that says to remove the TRE, which does make absolute sense. Dont suppose anyone knows the size of the locking nut... just need to get a slightly larger spanner.
-
Hi, needing to replace one of the steering rack boots as its burst. Now reading the bently, it states that the boot can be removed and replaced by pulling along the tie rod and then over the tie rod end, once the tie tod end is disconnected from the bearing housing. However on using the search, various posts say the tie rod end needs to be removed from the tie rod. Having had a look it makes sense to remove the tie rod end, but i guess it depends on if the narrow end of the boot can stretch over the TR end ok. Any definitive answers. cheers

likely one for the concours / show & shine guys/girls ? were the arch liner retaining screws that attach the liner to the lip of the arch on the wing colour coded when the cars left the factory ? sad question, I know, but just wondering. thanks

gutted for you mate, you'd not even had her that long. main thing is that you both walked out ok. -
Sorry, its the black backing surround that secures onto the tail gate, which the number plate then attaches on top of.
-
Does anyone know if these are still available from VW ? cheers

maybe at the next mega meet we should organise a CCGB display ??

I was there aswell, didn't see your car Steve? Not that I had the Raddo with me, went in the Quattro, less smoke :( Some nice cars, but as you say, not many Raddo's I left just after lunch Bill so maybe was gone before you were there ? i was parked down near the bottom. someke form the raddo..... that doesnt sound good ? I was there in my Corrado, dark burgundy left hoocker. I was parked at the very bottom of the car park. The Corrados that were there looked good, really liked the 2 storms that turned up and parked at the top just as you came in. yep pretty sure i saw it :salute: must have left before the storms arrived
-
went along to the SVAG meet at knockhill last weekend, not many raddos though :( only 6 (inc mine) IIRC. They were all looking good though :salute:

I know the rears are. just replace it, its a pretty straightforward job, especially if you have the disc off anyway. All the bolts / washers are all available from the stealers. Best have a torque wrench when tightening the stub axle bolts.
-
this car looks fantastic. You say the inlet manifold was media blasted, was it soda blasted to clean it or blasted & then painted ?
-
got back from the paintshop. he made a nice job. I put it up on stands and refurbed the rear end. new back plates & bolts, balsted & painted the carriers, new calipers (both were pretty done, new wheel bearings, abs rings, took off & cleaned rear shocks, new top mounts, cleaned & then re painted the inner arches. I just need some new rear tyres now. Also managed to replace all the missing door trims from those left behind from the old valver. The idle was all over the place so cleaned out the ISV which made all well. removed the induction kit & put back to standard with K&N panel filter. Its now in standard form, other than wiper upgrade & greenstuff pads. Actually managed to drive it yesterday....i had forgotten how well it drives. Might try out some braided brake hoses, see if the pedal feels less spongy. My camera takes naff pics.

cheers Toad i had not of the stud extractor idea. definately worth a try, for the sake of a few quid. i have a pair of girlings which i can get refurbed for pretty much the price of one replacement caliper, but i suspect they wouldnt wont the one with the sheared nipple back in exchange.
-
Hi my vr6 has lucas rear calipers. in spite of my patience... my bleed nipple screw has sheared off :( . i have some spare girling ones off my old valver, however the hand brake mech is different (has a large visible spring). i am assuming that these items are a straight swap, in spite of the visible difference ? cheers

as everyone has said, quality of surface prep is really the main thing. just had some work done on mine, which included the bonnet. For the bonnet the guy recommened taking it back to bare metal then going form there. there was a small dent in the bonnet which was filled and there is no sign of it anywhere once its painted. hope you get it sorted ok.

great pics :D do you think the Fife fishing villiage could be Pittenweem ?
-
just wondering if all raddos had the same colour of side window tint, i am sure some look more green and some look darker ? if so is it a difference between early & late or colours etc. looking to get a replacement drivers side window so just wanting to check what i should be looking for. (currently 93 VR6) thanks
