well I thought I would post some pictures of the latest edition ! picked this up in Staffordshire about a month ago. Had a good drive back up after a trip down on the train to view it. 93 VR6 flash red. 148K. has had some top end work, chains & guides done about 20K ago. Not really done too much yet, other than a good clean after its run home. removed its single wiper conversion and put some lupo ones on. Have some front discs and pads to go on soon and needs some new tyres. Needs a little paint here and there, so should hopefully getting that done next month or so. Pretty pleased with it so far, but no doubt it will decide to eat up some cash soon... it is a C after all :) I am no photographer, sorry for the low quality images.

i know its not from a VR, but my old 91 valver had an OE fit Blaupunkt atlanta SQR 47 radio/cass. defo there from new as i knew the car. If its if any use you can have it, its in really good condition - sure i may still have the original instructions for it as well.

I washed the car today. used snow foam first then washed. The bonnet (which suffers from a bit of paint fade) has come up really streaky, splodgy like there has been some residue left on it in patches. The sun did come out quite strong when i was using the snow foam & then got a bit delayed in rinising it off before washing. i was wondering if the splodges were due to the snow foam drying in the direct sunlight ?

picture 1: Fuel Filter part no. W811 133 511 D top of filter (as picture is) attaches to fuel line going to engine. Bottom end of filter attaches to fuel pipe that runs from the accumulator. The part no.s for the banjo bolts & seals/washers are in the wiki guide to changing fuel filter. pictures 2 & 3: Fuel accumulator (W431 133 441 C - £147 from VW). centre opening is for fuel pipe that runs from accumulator to fuel pump housing/assembly (picture 7). The second opening is for the fuel pipe that runs from accumulator to fuel filter (picture 6). there is no seals/washers needed when securing the pipes. Pictures 4 & 5: fuel pump housing/assesmbly. Domed cap nut (N0110691) visible in picutre. Also should be 2 seals/washers ( N0138128 - i think) for here to go either side fo the fuel pipe. Picture 6: Fuel pipe accumulator to filter (535201218A - £26.29) Picture 7: Fuel pipe accumulator to fuel pump (191201373 - £23.13) HTH

sounds a lot less painful and easier to fit.

My C had a tow bar attached when i got it. there had been no major mods to fit it, but it looked like there had been some 'thinking on the job' when it was fitted. (he towed a large caravan with it for years) dont know if this was a genuine tow bar kit for the C or was custom made. it was primailry secured to the spare wheel compartment with a curved metal plate attcahed onto the plate that the toe ball bolted onto (A). on the inner apsect of the spare wheel compartment there was another curved metal plate which the bolts went through (B) (see attached pics). there is also a long and wide metal strap which runs horizontally allong the inner aspect of the boot below the level of the rear panel which was bolted to the body ©. plate A ias alos secured to metal strap A. hope the pics help better than my poor explanation ! if i can help further let me know. as you can see the tow ball is off the car now. saying that, its now not getting used and i also have an already cut rear bumper too ...... if your intersted

thanks guys. i looked up vagcat and found a part no. based on mrk 3 golf as per davidworts suggestion. they are v cheap so i will order and see if they are the same.
-
Hi just wondering if anyone knows the part no. (or if they are still available) of the brake pipe retaining clips which attach to the rear beam, which hold the solid portion of the pipe between the flexi at the rear beam to the flexi at the rear caliper. i cant seem to locate it on vagcat. thanks
-
Have now got the rear beam off. It and some other bits & pieces off to get shot blasted. As expected had to cut off the rear brake lines as flexi/solid unions were rusted solid, and then disconnected the remainder of the rears from the brake compensator. so all new rear brake lines. had to take off the exhuast to remove the heat sheilding on the floor pan to get brake line off so gave it a clean up while i was at it. next plan: start collecting parts to get it back together again.climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfcar rear end refurb before (1).JPG[/attachment:32km1gbf]

Its good to see another red valver getting saved. I will watch with interest, it will give me some incentive to crack on with mine ! :salute:
-
looks really nice 8) . Where abouts in Scotland are you ?
-
having just taken the rear beam off my old valver, the brake line had to be disconnected on both sides, at the flexi (at the rear beam) / solid pipe join (which then runs across the beam) to actually get the axle bolts out, in order to drop the beam. maybe there was an easier way i didnt just see ?
-
Yeah there was no chance of getting the bushes pushed in, I spent an hour and a half picking it off with a stanley knife :( You reckon I should take it off the axle face then? It does state in the Bentley manual to make sure the metal surface is clean! yep i would. It was a few years back, but i think i did as you and used a stanley blade and a little dremmel device with a sanding paper wheel. i left all the bushes in, and then pressed them out and replaced, once the components had been powder coated. just my dropped my rear beam, back plates, carriers etc off for shot blasting today. not going for powder coat finish, just going to paint them.
