Holograms are caused by machine polishing, its basically a trail mark left behind. You can get rid of them by machine polishing or hand polishing. If you get something like menzerna 203s, which can be used by machine or hand, you will be able to get rid of the marks. Just remember if its by hand it will take a bit longer. Menzerna 203 has a slight cut which will remove the marks, you will need to add something to protect it after using menzerna, a sealent or wax. You could also use Auto glym super resin polish(SRP), which has less of a cut but will fill swirls and mask holograms. However with time (SPR) will fade and the holograms may come back. If the paint on your car is still very fresh I wouldn't apply a wax just now, let the paint breathe and settle. I'd say 2-3 months. You can keep polishing it.

Hi, does anyone know if the callipers and carriers of a MK4 ibiza will fit on a VR. I know the MK4 golf and the TT ones do. Thanks in advance for your help

It was running on shell v power so 99ron

I was at a RR day today, got 184.5bhp @ 6075 rpm max engine power, 157.4 bhp @6075 rpm max power at wheels and 168.6 lbft @5051 rpm, all in 3 rd gear. My car is a completely standard VR6. Quite happy with that saying as a new VR6 was meant to have 190bhp.

Cheers. I cant get to the switch with a socket because of the accumulator. My abs system is still in the car

Hi folks, I need to replace my ABS pressure sensor switch but cant get to it because of the accumulator. Is it just a matter of unscrewing this after reducing the pressure? the accumulator is the black bit in the pic and the pressure sensor is the gold/mustard coloured plug at the front on this pic.

Thank I'll give that a go.

Hi, I fitted a new bonnet cable today but it is very tight. If I pull the lever I think I will break the clip. What have I done wrong when fitting it?

You can have a pic of mine, I never intend on letting mine go

I have both, DA and rotary. I started off with the PC7424 DA. The DA gives a good finish. If you are only using it on your own car, once you have found the right polish and pad its fine. Deeper scratches/marks will take a little more work with the DA but you do feel a bit safer using them. The DA is also safer to use on plastic areas, such as bumpers as the paint doesnt heat up as much. I have a makita rotary and you can tell the difference. The rotary is more powerful and you need to pay more attention to what your doing. Its not as bad as some make it out to be. It will burn through paint if held on an area for to long, but you shouldn't be holding any machine in one place for to long. As with all machine polishers practice on a scrap panel if you can before using it on your own car, just so you feel comfy. It's always best to also get a paint depth reading if you can, so you know what your playing with. Remember both types of machine have a speed control so you can work at a lower speed until your happy to move up. In terms of DA polishers I have had a shot of most and would agree A1, the Kestrel is probably the best of the bunch. The PC is a little dated, the rest have more power. I have heard of problems with the Meg's reliability. Choose a machine before you choose your polish. Menzerna polishes are great but some can take a little more work with a DA to break down. Meg's have some great polishes that are suited to the DA, such as 83. I have a dark burgundy (Lc03) Corrado and originally used Menzerna with the PC, it left a very good finish but took a bit of work to break the polish down. summary - I would go for a DA if only using it on your car and would suggest Meg's polishes.

HI, spotted this on another forum. Didn't see the corrado on the list but there is other VW's http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/index.php?cPath=2075&sort=2a&page=5

I have a gauge and paid £140. It only reads full paint thickness, so if you had a reading of 120 microns, 50 could be the base, 60 could be the colour coat and 10 the clear coat which would mean you have very little to play with. The depth of each coat also depends on how it has been painted. If the car has had a respray it normally reads higher but you are unsure of each coat thickness. The only way to be sure is to buy a gauge that reads all 3 coats and I think they start around £1500 for a good one. The reason you have went through is most likely due to it being an edge. The edge of panels are a sensative area, all it takes is for the paint to heat up enough and the pad the hit a weak spot and its off.

I was there in my Corrado, dark burgundy left hoocker. I was parked at the very bottom of the car park. The Corrados that were there looked good, really liked the 2 storms that turned up and parked at the top just as you came in.

Hi mate, the S-bracket doesnt come off, you need a new cable :( If the blue arrow part is still attached and the clip at the red arrow is broken you could still open it with pliers.

Thanks for the replys guys. Oh and V8 in a C, I think Walsey said it right

Can anyone tell me if the 312mm Brakes of a golf MK5 will do for the brake conversion. Most seem to use MK4 or Audi TT
