Had a mk2 valver before the G60, what an ace car. Would love another at some point, but a good one is big bucks nowadays!
-
Thanks matey!
-
That would be annoying - I gave him my reg number, so there's no excuse for a mistake. If it's the wrong type I'll just send it back for a refund.
-
Chap didn't say it was the last one to be honest. Yeah it was Eurocarparts - should have probably checked them first! I'm sure they just make the prices up for these things. Although now I think about it I didn't ask for any discount, I was just so pleased to finally locate one!
-
Success! Got a N/S original VW one from ECP for about £39. Score! Thanks to all, especially CTWG60 for your help!
-
It's the right hand one, so the same one you've got on order unfortunately! I've rung every dealership in the UK that is listed as having the L/H one and none of them do, just in case anyone else is looking! I'm assuming there's no aftermarket supplier at this point then?
-
OK found an O/S one at a dealership in Nottingham, that's a start... £41.75 before discount!
-
Erm, I don't know about you but I've got two of those? ;)
-
Mummy, daddy, don't fight! :camp: I appreciate all your input, and if I, or anyone else, find a bona fide source of clear early spec indicators, we'll post the info up!

Any VR owners felt the need to get a 2nd car?

Obviously the first time someone backs into me in a car park I'll be on here going WAAHHH MY BEAUTIFUL CAR IT'S NOT FAIR... -
They are not and never have been £50 a side mate, like i said VW still have the amber/orange US spec ones and one side is £30 odd and the other is only £15 for some reason  at least i can remove my "rare" clear ones in winter to save them from the stones and run the orange ones instead now  If that's the case would you mind telling me which dealership you spoke to that have them in stock, currently? I'm talking about UK spec, clear ones - not keen on the idea of amber indicators in the front bumper??
-
Actually I beg your pardon - just pulled out my notepad and my local dealership gave me a price of £33.74 per side. Still a fair old whack considering they're not even glass lenses!
-
Well done dude, glad you got sorted - pays to be tenacious it seems! I'll bear the R/H one in mind, going to do some more ringing around this week. I would like some nice fresh indicators, but I'm not paying £50 a side for them if you see what I mean!
-
Ah yes but like most men I don't pay attention!
-
Have you got any contact info for TPS? Not familiar with them?
-
Yeah evidently I'm a bit of a girl! But good to know it's doing what it should. Charger was serviced by PSD last time, G-Werks said it was still in good condition internally 30k later, so they must have done a good job too.
-
I was given a list of dealerships that were showing having them in stock, but the few I rang round actually didn't. PM me if you want the list of dealers?
-
That's a bargain price - VW wanted about £50 a side for them, which is why I stopped my enquiries short!
-
Nice work dude - what was the price, by the way?
-
I'm in the same position dude!
-
Ahh brilliant, thanks a lot. Would be interested to know exactly *why* though, if a techie bod is willing to explain? Good to know I can just enjoy the car now without worrying!
-
Cheers Monkey! Yeah I heard you could, but couldn't be arsed finding a shorter belt, and tbh I've probably saved a few quid in petrol by puttering about in the gf's polo! But now I'm back to terrorise the countryside :norty:
-
Hmm see mine doesn't - if you accelerate quickly you don't hear the "eee" as it's only momentary, it just goes "brrrrrrrrmMMMM tsssh"! It's only at about -3psi that the whistle happens, any lower or higher on the boost and it's not there. I should go for a ride in another G60 to see if it's any different!
-
Really? Well if it's supposed to make these noises then wahey! Excellent! The problem is I've never been in, let alone driven another G60 so I really have no idea what they're supposed to sound like. But, if you learned folks say it's supposed to whistle, then it can whistle away! Cheers ladies and gents! :)

As expected G-Werks were awesome - sent charger off on a friday, it was back a week on monday after, if that makes sense. Looked brand new to be honest! Me and my mate fitted it back in with the minimum of fuss (well, except that we discovered my battery was past it's best, so had to replace that) and I'm back on the road - a fortnight without the C was not pleasant I can tell you! HOWEVER! I'm still getting these whistling noises, same as I was before the rebuild and I'm totally at a loss as to what they are, can anyone help with ideas for either of these: 1) High pitched whistle at part boost, like if you dip your toe on the accelerator it will whistle until you push the pedal further, like there's just one area that makes it do it - you can make it go "eeeeeh" "eeeeh" by pressing the accelerator to a certain point and back. 2) At high boost, there's a different high-pitched noise that suddenly appears - this time it sounds like a loud "beeeep" that goes away immediately you ease off the throttle. Sound #1 sounds a lot like a belt slipping, but the car's had a new charger belt and cambelt this year and tbh it's made both these noises since I bought the car last november. Any other belts that might be doing it? Boost/vacuum leak? Help! Car pulls well and drives just fine, it's just a bit annoying because I'm reluctant to give it too many beans in case noise #2 is something bad, and noise #1 is irritating round town!
