  1. I can't afford to tax/insure two cars, but even if I did I'm not sure I'd want to. I bought a Corrado because I wanted to drive one! Cars are meant to be driven, loved, dinged, and have miles put on em! I'd feel guilty leaving it in the garage all week. That said, if I *did* get a second car, I'd love a 205 GTI! They're like little toys and apparently great fun to drive :D
  2. Just to revive this - got a problem with my '91 G60 suffering battery drain. I usually drive 2 x 30mins journeys every day, but a couple of weeks ago decided to start using the gf's polo to commute instead. Corrado was sat on the drive for three days, and the battery was totally dead. It has the uprated headlight loom and a Toad AI606 alarm, there's also some power cable coming from the battery for an amp in the boot, although I removed the amp when I bought the car. Are any of these likely candidates for a drain on the system, or what else should I be checking?
  3. Not sure if this will interest any of you, but Halfords are giving out vouchers for 15% off everything except mp3 players/sat navs/vouchers. I just used one to get their 120 piece socket set for £84! They gave me a voucher when I was in the other week buying some wax, but I'm sure you can just ask them for one, they're valid until 28th Sept.
  4. Saw one in the flesh today - and they're massive aren't they! Interior looked nice, but the back looked dark, pokey and I bet rear visibility is terrible. Still a nice looking car, but really nothing stands out about it IMO.
  5. To be honest, I think it's just the front of a Corrado that's dated. The arches are VERY similar to an RX8, and the back isn't that far off a Celica or something like that. From that pic, I definitely prefer the styling of the C to the Scirocco. Not that I would say no to a 'rocco if someone gave one to me, like. :)
  6. Huge thanks to the following: shaunG60 - once again ultra fast delivery on a whole bunch of arcane bits. Legend! Cnut - for the door seal, looks in good nick - cheers besian - for the boot toolkit, splendid! Once again proving why this forum is such a great resource.
  7. Well, I'm far from an expert, but I would definitely advise soaking the allen bolts on either side of the charger in WD40 the day before, as one of mine was pretty hard to get out. Take out the airbox, and remove the outlet pipework to the intercooler to get it out of the way, then compress the sprung strut to ease the belt off the alternator, which will allow you to take it off the charger pulley. Then it's just four bolts one side, two on the other, undo the 13mm and 14mm banjo bolts for the oil feed and return lines and mine just lifted straight out. To be honest, if you just follow the guide on the G-Werks site you really can't go wrong. I could probably have done it on my own if I'd had decent tools and some more confidence, and I'm a total numpty.
  8. Well it was my birthday today (actually yesterday, 29th) and I didn't have any car problems - mainly because my Corrado is out of action having the charger rebuilt. So I got drunk instead and made balloon animals. :)
  9. Well, I took the C round to a mate of mine's place this morning to whip the charger out in order to send it off for a rebuild. I didn't feel confident doing it on my own, and I don't have the tools etc.. (although I plan on rectifying that). Learned a couple of interesting things - I didn't realise the G-Lader was so easy to remove, we managed it without removing the front grille or driver's side headlight, or removing the sprung strut at all - just compressed it by hand and slipped the belt off. I reckon it took "us" no more than half an hour (to be honest, I was just observing and making wisecracks, my mate was doing most of the work). Also, I learned the car has a cold air feed up from below the fog light, although it had come adrift and wasn't actually going into the airbox, so it'll be interesting to see how much difference that makes when it's properly located. Then, packaged the supercharger up in about 8 meters of bubble wrap, stuck it in a box with lots of FRAGILE tape and sent it off to see Darren and co. Bad points: I'm without my beloved Corrado for a week or so. Good points: it needs a rebuild, and I'm hoping some of the odd noises I've been getting at partial and full boost will be solved when it's all shiny and back in the car. Fun times!
  10. Ahh interesting - erm... do you have any names of hella suppliers? Google isn't coming up with anything useful..
  11. Hi mate, that's good to know - any chance you can take some pics and post em up? Apparently there are a few left in VW dealerships over the country, but I can't decide if it's worth spending near £50 each for brand new ones, or just replacing mine with some better-nick used ones... The problem with mine is that they're full of mould and chipped, and really date the front of the vehicle.
  12. Hmm just spoke to GPC and early-spec indicators are now obsolete and they can't get em. :(
  13. Does anyone know a good place to get new replacement items for the above? ECP have *some* but they're not cheap and according to their website, they don't have a pair of anything!
  14. Probably a daft question, but I couldn't easily find the answer through the search so: Apart from looking nice, do Samco hoses have any other benefits (as opposed to replacing worn hoses with OEM items)?
  15. Massive thanks to ShaunG60 for the prompt delivery of my boot seal! Nice bloke.
  16. Quite right, FWIW, I'm behind Rob on this - everything I've read on this thread suggests to me this JJ character is either trying to chisel him, or (just as bad) totally incompetent. If you're dealing with people's money, you don't go on holiday without either leaving someone else in charge of your inbox, or at least letting your customers know. Hope it works out for you Rob - don't give up!
  17. Don't worry dude, I didn't get the wallet with mine either, bought one off ebay! Oh and changing the headlight bulbs is a lot easier if your tabs haven't broken off and been epoxyed on tenuously... that's the only thing stopping me swapping my main beam bulbs for Philips Bluevision! :|
  18. Reading the instructions eh? Now there's a novel idea... ;)
  19. Yeah actually you might have a point - I'll persevere with it and see if it "softens up". Hmmm...
  20. Just got one of these AutoGlym synthetic drying cloths because Halfwits were having a 3 for 2 on car cleaning products. Boy, it's useless. Just moves the water around the car! Went back to my grubby old leather chamois. One of the Aqua Dry Hi-Tech ones, like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0103487961 Has anyone had any success with these things? Am I missing something?

  22. Right on. She has a head like Terrance and Phillip out of South Park.
  23. I can't watch 5th Gear, because all the presenters have f*cking stupid voices and faces. I want to punch Tiff Needell in the head, and Vicki Butler Henderson is just unbearably smug.
