The 1.8 16v is a great car, drove 300 miles last summer non stop and still had the good side of a quarter tank left..wasn't even driving that sensibly! (A444 when quiet, anyone? ;))

Looks great! Not my cup of tea, but you can see the quality. Does this guy do archwork and spraying? Am on the lookout for someone in the Surrey area

Found results in adv. search ;) So ignore this. Sorry and pls lock 8)

Hi guys, There probably is info on this somewhere, but my search yielded nothing satisfactory :( My drivetrain overhaul is almost finished, so I'm planning on engine work after. Initially I had considered an abf bottom end, but found it wouldn't fit under an early bonnet, so 9A seems to be an option. I was wondering what the average power gain would be from this combination? The engines seem go for around the £300 mark (fleabay!), so I was wondering if it would be worth it. 1.8 16v btw Also, bonus question - Gas flowed head. Worth it for cost? Cheers ;D

Reese's peanut butter cups! mmm...

Lovely! You got any plans for it? I had the same oily sparkplug problem and it turned out to be the gasket. Welcome to the forum btw 8)

Looks great 8) lovin' the green. What wheels are they? BK299's?

:camp: But in all seriousness, I have considered this option as i pay £175 a month for an 18 mile each way commute into the city. On top of that there is the C to worry about! However, being a n00b on a bike in rush hour London didn't seem like a good idea so i wimped out :( Good luck with finding the bike for you

!!!!! Think they are actually making it http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/motorsport/default.asp?storyId=18103

Well I can see the pictures now :). The nugget one looks good from a distance actually, but the up-close gappage is kinda :(. The lighter colour hides the hump a little bit more than Dec's grey one. I'm slowly warming to inverted bonnets :luvlove:
-
Thanks Dec 8) I can actually see that picture! No offence to your corrado of olde, but the bonnet does indeed look rather odd ; EDIT: can't see the picture now

crappy work network, it blocks photobucket or whever those images are hosted. Thanks though, will have to check it out later on tonight. From what I've read it seems that it seems like a lot of work, and if i'm honest I want the car to be perfect when finished, so I can see myself getting annoyed at panel gappage :( I don't suppose you can shed any light on the 1.8T fitments? *prod*
-
I plan to respray the car anyway, so cost isn't much of a factor.. I just assumed it would look weird with early wings? Anyway, pics might help ;) *wink wink*
-
well apart from the condition/colour of a late bonnet and the cost of purchasing/repainting, the late bonnet doesn't fit properly with early wings, it'll work, it's just they'll not line up right, panel gap and curve etc. This is what i presumed...Then again i've never seen a late bonnet modified to fit an early C. Anyone got a pic or anything? Another possible route - 1.8T engines..would these fit under an early bonnet?
-
Boo! Well cheers for the help flusted :)
-
Such a shame :( Probably way too much hassle to get a late bonnet to fit.. Is a 9A really that bad compared to an ABF? In terms of work needed and performance? Seems to be the only option for me if i want to beef up the 1.8...unless there are other alternatives?

Between #1 and #3, but from underneath

The pump is located next to the steering pump, and tbh should be easy enough to replace yourself if you don't mind getting your hands dirty :D
-
"That ain't no back door, that's a toilet!" Nice C btw ;)
-
You mean this? (Attached) Looks like a mondeo copulated with an aston :( EDIT: just saw the date on that pic (D'oh!), so its probably not the one you had in mind :(
