G60 jet- scraped turbo idea so gunna rotrex or similar
n3p replied to corrado_sunderland's topic in Members Gallery
Apart from being the wrong colour, wrong interior and not having all the other stuff, Mine says its a G60 Jet on the boot sticker, Does it count as another one??? Damn Jet wannabes :D -
Anyway... After much reading, It does sound like it could be the cam cover gasket which needs to be replaced (or rings?). Would I need to change the inlet manifold gasket whilst changing? And...Anyone know how to change the cam gasket? Tried searching the forum, but didn't find much to satisfy my needs ;) A step by step guide would be good - Am rather worried about overtightening... If anyone replies - Cheers

Thread revival... Hi, Exactly the same problem. Car started misfiring all of a sudden, theres a sort of juddery flat spot between 2-3krpm then its ok - also backfires quite alot. I assumed this was spark related, so I changed my HT leads today (Sparks done not too long ago), only to find Oil in the 3rd Cylinder. HT leads haven't really helped. Whats odd is that I thought it must now be the coil or dizzy, but here it's suggesting something else. Has anyone found a cure for this? Regards, Nick

Just out of interest, is this the only Jet in the UK? -
£44.30 inc. VAT - Ordered from VW in Horley, Surrey

Hi, quick question - searched the forum to no avail: Only 1.8 16v HT leads i can seem to find are those blue

It's the one outside . When at the scrapyard I noticed the passat's had the same missing section - are they all like this? Anyway when i turn the wheel it gradually pings off, I've forced it back in place adn it seems to be behaving....for now :D Also: fixed the bracket, was quite fiddly. Changed the tensioner thingy too whilst down there. However, the Corrado theory of "Once one thing gets fixed, something else breaks" still remains true, as it now misfires and backfires.....I'm guessing it could be a number of things, but I don't think it should be related to my changing of metal things? Could I have knocked anything whilst down there? Cheers ;)

Got one out of a passat.......£2 :D! Cheers

1991 1.8 16v using 2.0 PAS setup Hi, Had a seized bearing on my PAS pump, so it had to be replaced which was fine, apart from 1 problem....: Can you see where the PAS pump bolts on to? The darn thing snapped! Heres another pic for clarity: I'm really worried about this, doesn't look very good or safe to me. So i ask to ye: - What part is that? Any links to the correct ETKA page are welcome - Expensive? Cost? - Is it the same on any other VW? - Do you have one to sell? It looks like quite a big piece of metal, so i'm fearing the worst :( Also, whilse bleeding the system, this happened: Theres sort of a plastic washer ring which has snapped and starts coming off when you turn the wheel. Is this part still available from VW? And is it safe to undo that nut? I only ask because theres the front suspension spring loaded below, looking like it's ready to pop off in my face lol It wasn't all bad though, I grabbed me a bargain and got some Inpros with plastic headlight covers for £50 :D Heres how they look: Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm hoping to visit the scrappy this afternoon. Regards, Nick

Cheers for that, It wasn't just me being silly then :) davidwort - the valver guru! \o/

I'm confused - sorry to hijack :D Is that passat 9a engine bay the same as the 2l16v C's? my 1.8 valver looks identical :/

Thread revival.... But for my 1.8 16v Was driving along on saturday, noticed a kind of whirring noise for a bit everytime i accellerated. All of sudden, louuuuuud loud loud whirring screeeching sound, and the smell of burning rubber left my engine pay pouring with stink. Did this a couple of times (was trying to carefully drive it home), until the PAS belt snapped. I'm not sure what exactly caused it - my hydraulic oil was a little under minimum level, so i'm assuming this caused the bearing to cease, thus causing the pulley not to rotate? Can anyone confirm this or give ideas? Am i looking at a whole new pump? I take it the bearings alone can't be changed? I ask because the pump was replaced last summer. Thankfully, it has a years warranty. Tis a right fiddly bastid to replace

I bought my C debadged, and although it looks good i'd probably prefer it factory looking. When people say "Nice car!..what is it?" , it makes me wish the badge was there When people say "Whats that, a VR6?", it makes me wish the badge was there, so I don't sound silly trying to justify why i got a 16v

Lucky but costly escape... UPDATED PICTURES

Sorry to hear about that mate :( But atleast you're ok :D hurrah! -
davidwort - thanks

Quite interested in this also, mine leaks very very very slowly , as if it was 1 drip a night - Have yet to sort it out tho as it isn't on the top of my priorities. I heard that getting a new rack is very costly, but i'm not sure how much one would set us back :( Use your door! Open your mind!

You could change your PAS belt whilst down thar, as well as giving it some more hydraulic oil and a good bleeding - when changing my pump, this made the squeal alot quieter. Good thing you noticed the 2 different steering pumps, It isn't fun spending hours fiddling underneath the car removing b@stard bolts only to find that the pulleys dont' align (d'oh!), then having to take it off again

I used a company called motorglass, based in Surrey/S.London - cost me £258.50 Including all VAT and labour

Bugger, missed you by a few days. I'll try the long plier approach & if that doesn't work I guess I'll have a looksies on the links provided by you kind folk 8) :D Rich lol, the pliers probably would work - I remember initially pondering the point of having "secure" flatcaps when i got the wheels But if you don't wanna go down that road, I'm in Crawley every monday night 20:00-21:30 and 11:00-21:30 on thursdays....the joys of being a part time student
-
If you mean the flatcaps i have a key you could probably borrow - i'm in crawley tomorrow actually

I can't speak for everyone, but Castrol 15W/40 seems to work best for mine
