I don't know the OBD1 loom at all but I am pretty sure that it uses a Lambda sensor, in which case you just cut into the feed, purple I think. flicker? Do you mean off of a digital boost gauge? Mine is a mechanical that shows VAC as well as boost, looks pretty cool and gives you an idea of how to drive it when the engine is cold i.e. off of boost as well as making sure you are still hitting the right amount of boost on WOT.

personal taste really I sometimes like the look of them but generally I would never do it to my car. I'm planning to bring the license plate out a cm and then cut out the license plate indent and the metal plate behind that for more air flow

here : - you need to take the dash apart and cut out the ashtray and lighter but definetly the best way to keep it looking original and also brings the head unit controls closer to your finger tips when driving :)

I've not tried a MK4 R32 but I have always hated the lifeless handling of the MK4 GTIs, I have to say I haven't taken a MK5 R32 out for a drive yet either but I did find the handling on the MK5 GTI was much more fun / responsive than the MK4 GTI, can anyone let me know if the handling is that much better on the MK4 R32 from the MK4 GTI?

sounds to me like spark plug i had the same problem fit wr6dp0 bosch items (check the part code not to sure on that ) I would agree with sparks on this one I would also check the coil, leads and earths. I had a more severe version of this were it would be lumpy from start then cut out when you used the throttle, turned out to be a dodgy earth on one of the gauges :scratch:

one way to check for yourself is to open the bonet and try slowly pulling away you should be able to see excessive movement of the engine, but i would put money on it being the front engine mount, my bbm front mount bolt came off twice now :(

but now instead of lovely pressed sheet and freaking awesome paint jobs, they are covered in plastic / carbon and huge wheels which IMO really don't suite a classic looking muscle car. The old cars were expensive and well built, now they are made on a budget :( the one in the link above is the concept "expensive" version as well and it looks like a tonka toy

I was really dreading the release of the new challenger as it is one of my favourite cars and I think my fears have been confirmed :( still not too sure about this one http://www.supercars.net/carpics/4250/2008_Dodge_ChallengerSRT10Concept1.jpg certainly wont make me want to see a vanishing point 2 film

yeah from the looks of things the foil design creates trubulance between the foil plates to push them away from each other not sure what speeds this would need to be but i guess this can be tailored per bearing size and application. Could wastegate adjustment solve this i.e. let the turbo spin faster by closing the wastegate more at idle? according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garrett_Systems Garrett have been making foil bearing turbos for the US Military which have been standard equipment for their aircraft since the 1960's!!! there must be some reason why this hasn't moved over to cars yet

been doing my research on turbos recently and was wondering when we will see foil bearing turbos move from the aircraft to automotive applications, has it already happened :shrug: I was thinking it seemed like the best way to move forward, with friction reduced to nothing once spinning up fast enough, the temperature of the bearing would be reduced enough to not need oil / water being fed to it? plus with no friction (contact friction anyway) the lag would be reduced as well? I know there are plenty of experienced engineers on here so wanted to hear what you all thought, is it a cost issue?

um he probably had a dodgy sandwich plate I find that mine opens too early so it takes longer to get up the the desired temp but the pressure sits arouns 13psi on idle which is fine and goes up well with revs. I have a mocal and would say it is a must have first upgrade, my oil temps never go past 100c now and they only hit that when I get stuck in heavy traffic after a very long spirited run. -

well from a little bit of google wacking I found that this is a T3 family turbo (duh) and was also used on the Lotus Esprit turbo and produced 12.4psi and I am guessing this is the car type you got it from : - sierra cowsorth 2.0L P TB0361 G 466962-1 YB0207? I haven't found anything about the turbo in the way of spec for the turbo it self though but this looks like a good place to start reading up on garrett turbos http://wwwrsphysse.anu.edu.au/~amh110/turbo_page.htm
