  1. It does seem to have made a noticeable difference, my front mount was replaced a while ago but both are OEM replacements, not poly or uprated in any way. That said, the rear mount we removed had rubber that could be deformed by hand, so was well past its prime, and anything would've been an improvement! Could it be something to do with the cross member bushes, as they are also between the engine and chassis, and could be tired?
  2. No pics for this one I'm afraid - was in a bit of a hurry, as spent most of Saturday doing chores and then trying to sort out boost monkey's new window looms, so it was about 8pm when we started on replacing my rear engine mount. Jacked up driver's side and axle-standed it, then removed the gearbox mount bolt, the two front mount bolts from underneath, and the two bolts under the rear mount. The three bolts through the engine bracket into the rear mount were OK to get out except for the double-ended bolt with the lambda bracket affixed to it - the 10mm nut was totally rusted on  but a spot of Plusgas and the 10 milli Erwin sorted that out  With a 2 inch piece of wood on the trolley jack under the sump, we proceeded to lift the engine, so that we could slip the old mount out. Unfortunately there was precious little room there even with the throttle body close to the underside of the scuttle tray, so we had to remove the 4 bolts off the back of the block and lift the engine bracket out of the way too - those bolts are a bit tricky to get at! That done, with some more random wiggling of the old mount, it fell out to the rear of the driveshaft  and I even managed to get the new one in the same way, and bolt the engine bracket back to the block. What we should've done next was get the two underside bolts into the rear mount as they were a pig to line up, but instead we put one of them in, then one of the top bolts, then spent about an hour raising and lowering the engine to try to get the second bolt hole (and captive nut) in the rear mount to line up with the hole in the subframe :bad-words: Lots of near misses with getting the thread to bite, and lots of trying to move the rear mount around finally got it into a position where it looked good, so we dropped the engine and it all lined up  Lots of bolts back in and torqued up to spec, lots of tidying up and then it was finished... at 12:30 am on Sunday morning  Anyway, had to check that it was working, so went for a nice 30 min blast  and tried lots of fast gear changes to see if it had improved - especially fast 1st to 2nd changes, which are easy to do when there's no one else on the road! Seems to have improved a lot, I reckon that the last bit of grind in the 1-2 change is a worn out synchromesh - a job for another day  Thanks to bm for helping and hanging around until midnight :salute:
  3. :shocked!: Wow those are some seriously low-profile tyres! What are they? Like 205/3?! Nice rims though 8) will look great once the rubber's on and filling those arches :thumbleft:
  4. Hmmm, not sure. To be honest, HDR tomfoolery has been on my 'must have a play with this when I have time' list for a while! There is a good walkthrough in the online Potatoshop Help I think - have you looked at that?
  5. Good news bro, glad to see that the plan is still progressing :salute: Will check with the good lady about temp storage :norty:
  6. Credit to Toad, not me! :salute: I don't need to bracket any more as I have found I can 'recover' around two stops from underexposed pics and as much as one stop from overexposed pics when shooting RAW (ie. always) I do have a few triple exposures that I want to try in Photoshop, to get a nice 32-bit HDR image though
  7. I know what you mean - the back of my envelope got covered in scribbled notes real fast, and I had to resort to, er, an Excel spreadsheet  just to keep track of who offered what and for how much. *sigh* :dorky: Well, I wouldn't go that far... :cuckoo:
  8. Awww, still feel bad about my bro and wife having to push the 4x4 out of the flooded river  D@mned automatics! :bad-words: Thanks for checking the depth of that ford on the way back too :salute: My C would cope even less well now that it's dropped
  9. I just got back from the States on Friday night to discover that my insurance would run out on Sunday 20th July at midnight (last night). So, I got the usual renewal call from Flux on Saturday with a proposed £700+ premium  After some ringing around this morning, managed to drop that to the mid four-hundreds, and finally chose Brentacre at £490 as they seem to have the best mix of modification allowances/breakdown cover/sensible inclusions/knowledgeable staff (spoke at length with John :salute: ), even though they weren't the cheapest - Flux and Chris Knott were both a bit less expensive, but with different packages... Was pleased to have shaved more than £200 off last year's premium and increased my cover a bit too  The fact that my insurance expired last night also reminded me that I have now owned my G60 for a full year! :new-bday:
  10. Pics are fun. I will nearly always look at a topic that has pics attached, even if it is a subject that doesn't particularly grab my attention. I also like colouring in...
  11. you say what now? :) I think it's when you get your frank and both beans out in public. And there it is folks! thanks for listening, you've been a wonderful crowd  :cuckoo: (Actually edited my earlier post as I realised it's been 9 thousand pics in 22 months... no wonder my right hand hurts) *cue Toad*
  12. I tend to do a lot of landscape stuff, but like taking pics of anything beautiful/stylish :) I tend to keep the camera close to hand, and always take it away with me - took loads of pics in the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in the States last week. 8) Taken about 9,000 pics in 22 months, although for a while I was doing a lot of triple exposure bracketing...
  13. Thanks bro  I'm not sure what you mean by sort? I certainly don't have any money to do anything major to it, but if you'd like it out of your guest room and in my workshop that can be arranged! :cuckoo:  Worry not, that wasn't a hint of any kind! Just wondering if you are going to put the spare engine back together and into the car at the same time as fitting the new front end, to save having to disassemble the bay again later? The stripped KR can stay in our 'guest room' (love that phrase) as long as necessary. :D :salute:
  14. Glad you got it fixxored  Are you going to sort out the spare engine before you do the subframe etc? (PS. cool avatar 8) )
  15. I have the Lowepro AW200 - it's great for all that gear, plus the 70-300 fits inside on the camera too (just)! D300 ftw
  16. Autoglass told me my replacement (Sekurit OE glass) would have been about 500 quid if I'd had to pay for it - thankfully I could claim on my insurer's windscreen cover :D
  17. Upgraded to a digital SLR about 18 months ago from a neat but limited Pentax compact camera  : Nikon D50 camera back Nikon 18-70mm DX lens Nikon 70-300 DX VR lens Nikon 50mm DX f1.8 lens ND4 and UV filters Nikon SB800 flash & sync cable Gold/silver/white/18% grey reflectors Benro monopod Cheapy tripod  Capture One LE Photoshop CS2 :salute: And you?
  18. I knew what he meant  And here's a link for you, M, I think it might be to your tastes :norty: There's some fine reading there, didn't post anything though as I was trampled in the stampede of all those wishing to vent! Enjoy :) (PS. cool plane avatar)
  19. Hmmm... like lying on the other side of a hump-back bridge and taking underside shots of a C flying over it at speed?  Thinking of which, are there any proper rally Corrados (without the 'e', that is)? That would be seriously cool :shades:
  20. Do I get an extra star for it? Pleeeease? Any more requests? No smart*rse ones like 'yeah, I'd like a pic of the mixture burning inside a cylinder'
  21. Yes, all Corrados were built by Karmann and have the badge on the gearstick surround
  22. :( But it is specifically on my Corrado  :) Thanks
  23. I was surprised how clean it was, but suddenly thought 'perhaps I should give it a quick brush' - after the pics were taken  Would make a good avatar like this: 8) _DSC9063 avatar.jpg[/attachment:1ut9ef38] Trying to think of other Corrado specific emblems that would make good abstract avatars...
