  1. IIRC, I suggested the ARZ ones several times before the purchase was made... You did, but after looking at them both before I chose, I was (and still am) happier with the FKs :) The bit I find odd-looking on the ARZ lights is the contrast between the darker rectangular area and the lighter semicircle where the bulb is  :| Think you may be onto something there  The darker tints defo work better with dark paint. Are you into any mods on your 'lude? Or is the whole point not to be spending money? :ignore:
  2. Glad to have been pointed this way by CazzaVR as I have just got the same FK tails - will be de-pikeying them at the weekend :D
  3. Yeah, wasn't keen on the funny half-moon bit on the ARZ, so reckon I've made the right choice even though it's more effort to prep them :)
  4. Thanks for the link, figured it would need something like that  You had me worried for a second, but I did consider the ARZ tails and chose the shape and shade of the FKs (the smoked tint suits silver paint really well), plus the ARZ lights are same price as the FKs, which were drastically reduced
  5. Had to sell my first C as it was the straw that broke the camel's back, financially :( Only buy bits now that I know I can afford - but put it all through the card to get the usual perks... Was very pleasantly surprised when I came to get a mortgage late last year and they said I had 'excellent' credit rating and would offer me insane amounts of lending at low rates, must be the tens of thousands of quid through the credit card each year, but paid off in full each month  I have learnt my lesson :salute:
  6. Hello mate! Long time no hear  I got the 'Venom' lights, but I think they are just rebranded FKs, possibly: Smoked_Red Rear Lights.jpg[/attachment:2dsibuh9] You can see the bit between the 4 clusters is shiny, but hadn't realised how krohm it would look innit. And how's your 'lude treating you? Still up for a look at (and a ride in) it
  7. Daren't post any pics :( Might attract the wrong crowd   :cuckoo:
  8. OK, so my new smoked/red tails finally arrived today  but they are a bit, er, chromey... :gag: (PS. we really need a 'pikey' smiley! :D ) Need to get some nice black plastic paint on there before they're fitted! Any recommendations?
  9. Yep, that makes perfect sense when looking closely :salute: Prodigal 0 - 2 Dec!
  10. Wow, that's nasty for a dealer install! :gag: :confused4: Didn't know that early C's had to have dealer retrofits of elec windows... oh well, live and learn!
  11. Looks like some nasty bodge job :( I wouldn't be surprised if you found several loose window relays behind the dash trim on both sides (searches for pic as example...) That looks like the vacuum pipe for the central locking... Should connect up both doors and the boot to the central locking pump.
  12. Rob, any idea how much your inlet temps drop with the Megasquirt? And can you put ice water in the reservoir?
  13. No probs, I can get some rust-o-leum (great name, is it made by Acme corp?!) next time I'm Stateside, which will probably be at the beginning of July :)
  14. Wow, 103F... you need yourself one big chargecooler, and a (beer)cooler full of ice in the trunk to fill it with! That's one of the joys of winter driving here - when the air temp is in the single digits and slightly misty, you really notice the increase in engine power, so you can keep all your sunshine and hot weather! Er, did that come over as a bit bitter and envious? :ignore:
  15. Cool, my missus also loves the matt black engine bay pic, so she has offered to do all that tidyup for me  - "it's a girl thing", she says (like I care why she's doing it, I just love the fact that she wants to get involved!) :luvlove:
  16. No problem :) Changing your hoses?
  17. Send (from tank to engine) goes straight into the fuel rail (just left of centre), Return (from engine to tank) comes out of the underside of the fuel pressure regulator, Fuel pressure switch is connected to the right end of the fuel rail by a U-bend of rubber hose. Hope that helps
  18. Not found the minicam yet, and tore the spare room apart yesterday  sort of belated spring cleaning :salute: It's yours as soon as it crops up
  19. Can has pics please? Or does that involve me and my camera? :bonk:
  20. *sigh* No, they didn't arrive today either... :( Will call Ven*m tomorrow to find out where they are  Will also have a look in the Bad Salesman thread to see if I am having my chain yanked :nono:
  21. As promised: climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdf_DSC8880.JPG[/attachment:3jxe3wfh] And this angle shows most of the coolant pipes: 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf_DSC8881.JPG[/attachment:3jxe3wfh] And a quick mock-up of reds :dorky: : _DSC8880_red.jpg[/attachment:3jxe3wfh] Hope that's helpful :salute:  PS. luuuuuuuurve that pic of that matt black bay :luvlove: but no so sure about the red hoses. What did you use to do your cross member/rad support, and would it also do the rocker cover?
  22. My bay (excuse the missing inlet manifold and general grubbiness ) I don't have Samco boost pipes, just coolant, so not quite so 'in your face'! _DSC6144.jpg[/attachment:id9tc5jp] Will try and take a pic from the front this evening
  23. Wow, that inlet manifold looks great :thumbleft: Was a bit skeptical about the polished version earlier in the thread for the same reasons you weren't happy about it, but that paint job looks v. cool. 8) [Off topic]Gulf Coast it is. My wife is from the Caribbean, so I should know better![/Off topic]
  24. OFF FOR DUBAI!!!   P.S. - when ya getting to the phenolic??? Dubai was hot. Very hot. Glad I'm not running my C there, with ambient temps of 45C (113F)! Good shopping though :D Probs going to do the phenolic in July, just need to line up a few bits so I can do the lot at once. Compression is fine, so will look at big end and crank bearings when the engine's out. boost has his spare 16V on his engine stand in our back yard right now, so might have to arrange a swap with him... Sounds like a plan  :) The right tail lights have still not arrived, even though I sent the wrong ones back over a week ago :confused4: Hoping they'll be here tomorrow, to match the neutral side repeaters I fitted yesterday 8)
  25. Yeah, Cheapmods is right, we need to work on our 70's style theme tune bro... 8) Hmm, can you spell 'gluttons for punishment'?
