not sure why but the assessor says the door alone is £700 unfitted & unpainted. The car drives fine so please let me know how easy it is to make sure the insurers give it back to me cos I ma not letting this car go without a fight thats for sure so any help appreciated!!
-
I'll tell you what though- The insurance guy says its gonna be the thick end of four grand to fix   Its a good job I wasn't going any faster
-
How can you tell if you need a new clutch then? Its just that I though It would need replacing about now (75K).
-
I must have been going fast cos i didn't use the brakes until the back end came out. It was very wet tho. Thing is I didn't hit the pedal hard enough for the ABS to kick in until it was on the grass. You only really apreciate how heavy these cars are until you get them sliding :( :(
-
I meant left hand verge
-
Sorry James- I though you meant you would look next time you were passing. I woulda come out to have a chat. Oh well- cheers for taking the picture. It isn' that bad really but the sill has got a nasty crease under the door. had a lucky escape on Fri as well. came out Dragonville pretty fast, turned left onto the sliproad on to the a690 towards Durham- back end came round and i wound up facing the way I cane but right up on the right hand grass verge (you'll see the marks if you go past). Maybe I have had a luckier weekend than i thought :? :?

that goes some way to explain those white bumbers then. I am afraid you are right tho- yours probably is a lot worse than mine :( :( . Looked nice (& low) when I saw it on Fri tho :) :)

Cheers james- appreciate your post with the diagram. Have had more trouble cos someone crashed into the C on the Arnison roundabout on Sat morning.. Its gonna take at least two weeks to get it straightened out. Saw your car on Friday night (green with white bumber). If u drive from the stonebridge pub up to Nevilles cross bank, there is a set of terrace houses on your right. The corrado is parked on a private drive (not mine) just after the terrace. Have a look at the damage if u r drivin past and let me know what you think.

Never had an accident in nine years of driving, get a mint Corrado storm and some knobber white van man drives into the side of it on a roundabout two weeks later. I know people can have much worse car crashes so I am trying to look on the bright side but the doors gonna have to be changed and the sill has got a nasty looking crease in- all the other panels are untouched tho which is a plus. I have to phone the body shop tomorrow to get it booked in to be fixed. Anyone got any experience on how well body shops manage to colour match the mystic blue paintwork?

Hello- just been searching on the internet for a workshop manual to help me out with little bits like this- bit gutted to find out the only one available is a reprint of the proper VW technical manual for about 100 quid :( :( . Anyway- the clutch on my VR bites a little too high up for my liking and was going to adjust it this weekend. On my old Corsa it was a one minute job; why do I get the feeling its going to be a bit more complicated on the VR

Sorry I meant the stealers quoted £280 for the radiator without fitting  -

OK- Bit of a change of plan here. The stealers quoted £280 for the radiator fitted  . Took it to a place called Volkspartz in Durham (as recommended by James) The guy fitted a new radiator and six new plugs for £287!!. The stealers would have been well over £500!! The guy who owns the place has a storm with 20k on the clock & a polo G40 so I knew he would take care of it. have just been able to rag the knackers off it for the first time in a week- I had forgotton how fast it was :D :D . Couple of points tho- 1) The guy sais it was exactly the same as the VAG part- it even had the VAG part number rubbed off. How do the stealers get away with it :x 2) Cos its a Bosch service centre- he fitted those Bosch four way spark jobbers- are they going to be OK? 3) A previous post talked about two different rads on the VR6, changing over mid '95, thats not correct- there is only one VR rad part number. 4) The guy only billed me for one litre of coolant-has he used enough? 5) The car now goes up to 114 'C on the oil temp when thrashed, is that OK Sorry about length of post, I just kept on writing!! Cheers -
I bough my new storm last Sat- Perfect apart from a knocking noise like yours. Took it down to a VW specialist to get it checked out before buying it & the plug had come loose by about one and a half turns. The mechanic who tightened it back up said they have very long threads and it was unlikely to have caused any damage. I wouldn't worry about it. saying that the radiator blew up five days later :( :( . Bugger.

Would like to come but the car sprays coolant out when it goes above 3K so I am trying to leave it parked up as much as poss. I might give that place in meadowfield a try cos its only down the road. Let me know when next meet is, I read something about arnison centre meets as well. Cheers -

James (Sorry I haven't worked out how to use the quote thing yet)- Thanks for your comment. I have seen a couple of regular Corrados round Durham. There is a Silver one, A red VR6 and an older red 16valve- Maybe on of these is yours!! It looks like the radiator has gone (there is another thread on this bit). Its booked in for a new radiator with Pulmans on Tuesday. Is there anywhere else you think would be better to take it. Wouldn't mind meeting up tho- let me know when you next meet. Cheers -

Good Guess- 76800. I have only just bought the car on Staurday so I have been giving it some real hammer. Its 95 Storm & I hit 140 on the clock driving back up the A1. I think thats probably what did the damage!! -

Cheers bud. I knew it wasn't going to be cheap. Do you think they will have one in stock or will be quite a rare part? -
Hello- Put a previous post up about coolant leakage on ma new storm. It looks like the radiator has been holed. Its booked in to a VW main dealer on Tues. How much can I expect to pay?
-
Bought a Corrado Storm on Sat in mint condition & have been spanking it around since then. Drove quite hard home work today only to find coolant had sprayed all over the front nearside of engine bay.I left the engine running tho and no more coolant came out- I think it might only be forced out when its driven hard. I reckon I have blown out the gasket which lies between the radiator top hose, and the radiator itself (held on by two bolts)- I cant think where else it could come from?? Anyone had similar probs? Would really appreciate any help at all. Cheers
