Paul, I had just the same problem- clean out the ISV with carb cleaner- when you take it off you will see how coked up it is inside. Then clean out the throttle body- take care to clean around the lip of the throttle 'plate' so it seals perfectly when closed. Cured mine immediately- its never stalled since :D Mike

IBudget for a new Thermostat housing as well- They rarely come off without cracking :( . Same happened to my VR but can't find the old invoice to tell you how much it was Mike

I'll put my vote with the porker, thats exactly what I hope I will be replacing my storm with in a couple of years time :)

hello, This isn't an big problem in the overall scheme of things but I was winding the car up on the A1 late last sun night to see what it could do (have videophone evidence but am a bit reluctant to post it  ), came down off the power and it starting a high pitched drone; now around town its grinding quite badly. It feels like a wheel bearing its just I have never known one to go from good to bad in less than a minute :? , anyone else had wheel bearings go so quickly or could it be something more serious :( Cheers

Isn't it embarrasing when you find yourself in a punchy mood in the corrado and end up making a t!t out of yourself by racing something really naff. I mistook a Corsa SXi (all 1.2 litres of it!) for a 1.8 SRi the other day and raced it- bit of a mismatch really

To be honest its probably a broken element in the heated seat pad that has broken. I have been looking for an easy answer to fix my drivers heated seat for six months now but I have never seen a post on the forum yet when it has been anything other than the pad :( . They just don't seem to last very well :?
-
Yeah I know people with similar problems that were traced back to collapsed exhaust internals (not corrado's though), You can sometimes find the opposite to Fraser- when it ticks over and idles fine but chokes itself when you rev it (My old Corsa did just that due to a collapsed cat :( )

Mine has got one :?

Integra type r vs corrado vr6
Ice White Socks replied to Bournemouth James's topic in General Car Chat
I have spanked an ITR in my VR, Went from a standing start to 80mph and stayed level, after that the torque of the VR made the difference- after 120mph the ITR just disappeared from the rear view mirror  . I seem to remember it making a nice howl though going up through the gears- you don't see many about now either -
If its a broken element in the seat then you won't hear the relay click. I say that because I have a broken seat element and can turn the relay on and off by pushing at the point in the seat where the break is (ie opening and closing the connection). Saying that though I would have thought the relay would open and close regardless but it doesn't seem to :? Not sure that was any help

I am sure Kev H said he replaced his with a high intensity LED from Maplin. Its on my list of things to do and I bet it would give much better light 8)

Kev has hit the mark with that really. I have got a VR6 Storm- runs fine and scans through VAG COM OK and yet at idle it feels like its misfiring i.e vibration through the steering wheel and through the seat. Unless its really bad then I wouldn't worry too much. Like Kev says its just the nature of the beast :?

I would suspect the CV's too. Our kids got a scirroco and had just the same problem- a real intermittent thumping that didn't even appear to be related to whether it was a straight line or a corner. New CV sorted it right out :D. I know what you mean- I was thinking that no way was it the CV joint- But it was :?

Hello, I thought I would bring this thread back from the dead cos the local BP garage is now stocking Ultimate. I had a look on the Optimax website- which still says it 98 ron+, but people seem to think its been weakened down :? . The BP Ultimate website doesn't even mention anything about ron :?, does anyone know anything definite on this :?: Cheers Mike

l wouldn't mind knowing the answer to that as well. I cleaned ISV and throttle body a few weeks ago and it stopped a stalling problem I was having, but I never got time to use the cleaner with the engine running. I suspect the carb cleaner won't do the MAF any harm at all , But I will wait to see if someone more technically minded than me agrees with this before I actually go and do it!! Mike

Good answer 8) Great tip as well about the Ford Galaxy part. Cheers

Hello, Spent last weekend cleaning out the ISV and throttle body to clear a stalling problem. What I did notice was a broken valve that was on a pipe from the rocker cover going into the inlet elbow pipe- the pipe had sheared off where it entered the valve on the rocker side. It looks to my untrained eye like a one way rocker breather valve. I did a good job of bodging back up with cable ties and instant gasket. I phoned the stealer who couldn't tell me what it was or did ( ), but that it had to be bought with the complete elbow pipe assembly (£80 :( ) To be fair they didn't even sound to sure on that. Does any one know what it is, and if it can be bought separately. Thanks

Hello, I remember reading a thread on these a couple of days ago- Will my car have them (its a VR Storm), if so will they be on all four pads? finally will they indicate on the ABS Light, the brake warning light or on another indicator. Cheers Mike
-
To be honest it might be worth getting it into a VW specialist to get it done- Its only half an hours work tops and no parts- it would only be £25 odd. I can explain how I did it though if you want. You will need the tool to remove/ refit the plug leads- Most VR owners appear to have had one with the car- I bought a fancy metal one for £20. You will also need a splined Socket to remove the plastic engine cover- The one I used was very kindly loaned to me by James (CorradoVR6n-o-s) :D

I had the same problem myself. I just cleaned out the throttle body and the ISV with carb cleaner and its A ok. Not sure about the science but its either due to sticky ISV, or a build up of sh!te around the throttle flap that prevents it closing properly. Mine is an 83k VR6 and it certainly a job that needed doing. Never stalled again after. Isn't it scary how heavy the steering gets when you lose the power

Am feeling dead chuffed so I just thought I would share it with you all. Am working on contract in Durham today, with the car parked only about five metres from the office front. I have had three people come in so far and ask who owned the car and then blow smoke up my ass about how nice/rare it is. 8) 8) In fact one nutter has been walking round it for the last five minutes and keeps giving me the thumbs up throught the window like he is my long lost brother :? If I had an Audi TT or something no one would give it the time of day :? Any of you other folks had anything similar? Mike
-
Actually that would be a real favour, It would be a real help if you could show me how to clean it out and tell me the best stuff to use. I will give you a bell tomorrow some time and try and grovel half an hour of your time- Thanks for the offer :D Mike
-
By the way that last gratituous post just got me my first star- am now a regular  wahey (unless it gets moderated out- surely not :( )
-
By the way where the hell is the ISV anyway and how difficult is it to remove :?:
-
Cheers for that Kev- It was working fine though until this morning- Can the throttle position sensor setup drift with time then or is it kaputsky and time for a new one. I'll make an offer on that ISV is thats what it turns out to be - am hoping throttle position sensor though cos its a bit cheaper. Mike
