Hello, Having a bit of trouble with my VR6 stalling at the moment. It went in for for a door handle this morning and they hooked it up to a diagnostic (for free 8) ) and it came out with error code 0215- Idle control below adaption limit. This doesn't look like a VAG com code :? The notes on the job sheet said 'recommend clean throttle body and replace sensor'. Could this just be a sticky ISV or does the fact that there is an error code mean that its an electrical sensor :?: If so, which one and how much :?: Current repairs this year to date are door handle, headlight switch & Wiper motor- I could run a porsche for the money that goes out on this Corrado  Anway cheers for any help Mike

Its probably more likely to be a cracked element in the heated seat pad. When it makes intermittent contact it makes the relay crackle. I can turn my drivers heated seat on and off by pressing at the point in the seat where the cracked element lies  . If the seats are turned on accidentally the relay clicks and crackles as the contact varies. I would start on the seat pads first (or at least that where I will start looking when I can be bothered to take the seat out!) Mike

Exactly what happened to my VR on Friday night, after an hour of continuous high speed wipe the motor just gave up the ghost mid wipe. It actually turned out to have stripped the cog in that little gearbox bit on the end. I didn't have time to mess about so I had to get another from the stealers - another seventy quid down the pan :( , dead easy to fit though :) . Funny thing is the motors fine so If you can bodge your gearbox and my motor.... Only thing is I think the part number changed at 'K' plate so might not be any use to you. Mike

Without meaning to sound like a retard, can't I just bend back whatever I stretched in the first place, or is that just wishful thinking!! Is there anything on that car that you haven't replaced Kev- Seat bolsters, Roof strips, Door handles... Cheers
-
Just A thought. The heated seat relays are on the passenger side rear walls. I have a knackered element in the drivers side seat and if I accidentally switch them on I can get some very strange noises out of that relay pack. Its a long shot but I once had it buzzing for a full three minutes before I worked out what it was- and it sounded terrible at the time!! Mkke *mod edit - Removed double post for you - Henny *

Hello, This cold weather is playing havoc with my door locks :x . Anyway I was trying to get in to the car this evening but the locks were siezed so I opened it on the remote locking, pulled the door handle but it still wouldn't open. The handle is now slack for the first centimetre of pull and won't open the door. In a bizarre twist the door locking pin came off in my hand with about three inches of metal rod attached :? Have I stretched a cable or bent a locking rod? If I had my bentley with me it shouldn't be. that difficult to work out from the diagrams. Has anyones had a door in bits before and can guess whats bent/ broken? Cheers for any help Mike

Cheers for the replies- Kevs guide was useful so I am going to be replacing the bolster to. I may now even do the seat foam if its that easy. Bolster- Why didn't you just buy some new foam for the drivers side?- Is the replacement foam really expensive or not available or something- or were you just fed up of throwing good money at the bottomless pit that is the Corrado  I will try and get some photos and post them up here when I get it all done! Cheers Mike

Dead easy one this. Spent four hours polishing the car on Saturday, jumped in for a spin and was rewarded by the headlight switch breaking :( . Whilst there are lots of threads on this I can't find anything about how to get the switch out! Does it prise out or do I need to remove a trim plate. Needless to say, given the cost of a new one I am going to be trying my best to bring this switch back from the dead. Cheers Mike

I was looking at the Bentley manual a while ago and they come with some kind of cutter built in to the seal itself to get the window out. I'll have a look in it tonight if no one beats me to it and tell you what it says. It must be complicated mind because when my VR went in for body work, the body shop wouldn't touch the rear quarter window, they left it to a specialist to both take it out and put it back in again   Cheers

Hello mate, Mine does that, though it knocks rather than twangs. Like you I get the feeling that its something in the suspension shifting with the load. I have no problems when driving and the suspension is rock solid/ tyre wear perfect etc. Saying that though a twanging noise would indicate spring movement, so I see why you think they might not be compatiable. Not that that helps you much :? Cheers

Hello, Have had no drivers heated seat for a couple of months now and am going to investigate the job at the weekend. I am not forking out for a new pad, so if anyone has any experience of bodging these up/ bypassing burnt elements etc please let me know how you did it. I know the seats are easy to get out but how do you then get to the pads themselves? can't see anything in Bentley, Last Question, If push comes to shove can I swap the driver and passenger side pads around (Then the girlfriend can freeze in the mornings while I am all toasty and warm, hehehe :) ) Cheers Mike

corrado4life- I haven't got VAGCOM- a mate brought it round for me to use. He actually used a palmheld computer which is so small you could mount it in the cubby hole and have it wired in to the port all the time!! I didn't get much time to play around with it but it looks like a very impressive piece of kit. I think it costs about $120 from america plus another $40 or so for the cable. Cheers Mike

Gareth (crazymarcel) - Have you managed to fit these into your Corrado OK yet?? Those gauges are next on my wish list but I would be happier knowing that they went in OK. Cheers Mike
-
Thanks Joe- Its suprisingly easy to get to as well. Didin't find any faults either which can only be a good thing

You could just find the gearbox cable needs adjustment. There is also a plastic component in the gear cable system which wears out quickly- mine is getting sorted at the next service. Doesn't explain the clutch problem though (its not getting caught on the floor mats is it? sounds daft but it happened to me on my last car.. Cheers

Where is it? Bentley shows it as a four pin socket apparently located under the gear gaitor? My mate down the pub says that '95 VR6 corrados had a new style sixteen pin socket :? is this true- and if so where is it?? Cheers for your help (again  ) Mike

Hi, I had the thermostat changed only a week or so ago- they took the coilpack off- I wonder if they forgot to plug the Cam sensor back in!! The plastic cover is held on with two 'star' bolts- how can I get them off- do I need to get a special VW tool or will halfords sell what I need? Cheers for the replies Mike
-
Dave- Cheers for the reply- you know I actually meant the Cam position sensor all along- I must have had too much of the old sherry   What I should have asked is does anyone know where the Cam position sensor is and are there any tell tale ways of testing it without resorting to VAG COM? Cheers

Hello, My VR seems to have lost its vavavoom. It starts/ idles/ runs fine but has just lost its 'shove' when you drive it hard :? I was thinking along the lines of Crank Position Sensor. Where is it? and is there any way I can test it without paying VW lots of cash to hook it up to the computer? If anyone can think of other bits to check that would be much appreciated. Cheers Mike

Quick hello and North East Corrado's
Ice White Socks replied to Nugget yellow 16v's topic in General Car Chat
Hello Mark, There are quite a few of us from the North East on the forum- haven't seen you around yet but I guess you shouldn't be that difficult to spot with that colour car :D Cheers -
Hi, I have had handling probs ever since I bought my VR- A kind of light side to side jiggling not only in the steering wheel but which affecting the whole car. Got the alloy wheels refurbed and a new set of proxes on and I can't describe just how much better it felt- it was simply like a different car- I had a smile a mile wide when I was testing it out after fitting the wheels :D . It goes to show that there must have been some wheel balance/ tyre fault that was causing all the problems. May be a problem on yours :?: Mike

I had a good look round when I was buying four new tyres. All the reviews were raving about the Toyo Proxes T1-s so I got those. They weren't that expensive either :D . I am getting them put on the car this weekend so I'll let you know what I think after I have spanked it around some nice country roads 8) Cheers Mike

Joe, My dealer is sourcing them from the main UK parts distribution place (Milton Keynes?) he is sure he can get them- which means that any other dealer can get hold of them as well- maybe he meant they werent in stock in his own stores? It sounds like mixed reviews on the carpets then :( . I remember one of the guys here saying he had a custom storm set made from justmatz :? Would be interesting to see what they were like. I'll get some ordered anyway- if you still have problems Joe, let me know and I guess my local stealer can post them down to you :D Cheers
-
Hi, I have read a couple of people on this forum struggling to get OE mats from VW. My local stealer is convinced he can get either black or platinum carpet mats but they are £60 a pop   Has anyone got these in their car, if so are they worth that much money. Any pictures of them would be even better .... Cheers Mike

Where are you getting the stuff from james  I haven't seen it anywhere yet :( . I am looking after your wheels by the way 8) should be able to get them back on Saturday. Cheers Mike
