My girlfriend spotted a red vr M reg (good choice in cars) today on the A31 hogs back just outside Guildford at 07.50 today, sadly the chap had broken down :( ..........anyone on here ?................

Good stuff matey looking very nice indeed, i know how easy it is to get carried away with it, i wanted just to paint my rear beam then came new bushes new exhaust, fuel tank off, heat shield off, cleaned and checked for rust.....four months and £800 later just finished, not driven her for seven months........just got to keep the faith.........good luck........
-
Is that anyone i know gav ?..........looking good matey, gonna have to meet up soon and have a chin wag, im up my garage all day tomorrow (apart from the grand prix) to finally get my brakes bled after all the work i did..........

Yea ive got these coilies on mine, i can only compare them with OE struts as they are the only two suspension set-ups ive tried. The handling improved dramatically, cornering is much improved much less roll than standard (but i did drop it quite a bit). they are quite hard and i end up bouncing up and down in the seat. The finish isnt great the zinc plating looks knackered only after a year, although they havent seized up (yet). I got them for £400 in a group buy on the VR6 OC................ :)

Na the rears are still the allen key got mine last week................ :salute:

Ithought the thinking behind it was that the infra red signal could not be "read" by unscrupulous people, so the range was set intentionally short so that no-one could get inbetween the signal.......thats what i heard anyway........mine works from about 10 foot, so it may be a tiring battery in your fob..............Oh just seen how old this thread was doh !........... :D

Eventually got my money back from Venom, what a nightmare i will certainly NOT be using Venom again. I think they should think about writing a book cos they are really good at fiction.................................. -

Thanks lads for your input, i have pm'd Jim with a fuller explaination, maybe we could start a definative thread with the suppliers and all of our experiences (good and bad) with them so that people know what to expect. I did my research into Venom and there was nothing untoward (using this site)............ :salute: -
Spotted a white c last thursday on the A505 between Letchworth and Royston J 78 *** looked nice stretch wheels\tyres crystal rears........... :D

Has anyone actually had their exhaust from Venom?
daleyboy replied to daleyboy's topic in Suppliers Forum
After 4 weeks i asked for my money back that was last week and no money yet, im really starting to think that venom are of dubious character.......... :( 1) They took the full amount for the exhaust knowing that they didnt stock it.(Thats illegal isnt it?) 2) They fobbed my off time after time saying "yea im sure it'll be here tomorrow...." 3) They offered me a jetex system when i wanted a Miltek and said they could get a jetex tomorrow, they told me that Miltek were really busy.(Phoned another place and they told me Miltek had one on the shelf WTF?) 4) When i asked for my money back, they told me my Miltek had turned up(The day after they told me they could get a jetex) Something smells really bad about all this, funny how the Miltek turned up the same time they could get a jetex bearing in mind you would have to see both exhausts to know the difference. Im really thinking that when you add it up its difficult to think that they werent trying to stitch me up. -
Dont suppose anyone remembers King Kurt ooh wallah wallah.................. :D

Ok thanks what you've said makes a lot of sense, i should also add that ive never dealt with them before so when you hand over £360 of your hard earnt cash many things go through your mind, like am i ever going to get it? .........im just peeved cos ive worked quite hard to get everything ready for the rebuild and i only use the car for six months a year, the last time i used it was six months ago so im chomping at the bit to drive it again which is probably where the frustration is coming from.................... :D -
Looks like a good blank canvas for a lot of work !.......................good luck............ :D

Ive been waiting now for nearly four weeks for my Miltek cat back system from venom, ive spent the last three months sorting the rear beam-bushes,rust etc and left a month to get the exhaust before i put it all back together. I have phoned them four times asking when im likely to expect delivery, every time they say well it should be soon......fair enough they are not building it only selling it, i thought they shouldnt take the full amount (£360 iirc) if they dont stock the item only take a deposit (i could be wrong?).......as you may tell im getting quite peed off, has anyone had similar experiences? and when do you think i should ask for my money back and go elsewhere ?.................. :cuckoo:

Is it possible to take down rear axel without removing brake
daleyboy replied to Mawrick's topic in Drivetrain
The compensator isnt attached to the beam but the nearside mounting bracket which the beam hangs off, the problem is you cant get the bolt out which goes through that mounting bracket cos the compensator is in the way. I just hacksawed through the bolt and will put the new bolt in the other way (from outside in) the compensator wont come off cos the bolts are high tensile steel and the compensator is alloy and there is a chemical reaction between the two making the compensator impossible to get off (unless you hacksaw through it)..............the abs sensor is also a git to get off the stub axle mine wont move so i just took the stub axle off the beam (4 bolts) .................:D -
vr6 plug lead removal tools for sale (metal type)
daleyboy replied to zerocool's topic in Suppliers Forum
You defo do need one, you can try taking the spark plug leads off and see how far you get without one, when i first got my vr it took me half an hour to realise the right tool was required...................................it grips the spark plug lead to pull it off the spark plug so you dont damage the lead as they are quite inaccessible ..........................:D -
My "Normal Temps" are 90 degs water and 100 oil , giving it some beans then the water remains around 90-95 and the oil goes up to 115 or thereabouts, mine ran hot until i changed the thermostat so it could be as simple as that, thats where i would start. It sounds like the water temp needs to be under control will which in turn control the oil temp, dont forget that oil temps of over 120 degs will require fully sythetic oil as it degrades after. Now i run sytha silver (semi) as my temps are under control............hope this helps.................sounds like either as you say someones directly connected the fans or it could be the car just trying to control temps but you temps need to be reduced and i dont believe they are normal............ :D

i only asked the part numbers cos my local stealer got confused (whats a strut?...and he thought coilovers was a part of the ignition !), but anyhow went to another an old boy very helpful at the aldershot surrey one, i got top bushes all round , front bearings (he said the rears would be ok ?) and front inner a.r.b. bushes all for £57.........which i didnt think was bad till i asked him the price of a front engine mount £178 !! nearly fainted but ended up laughing........thanks for the info......... :D
-
ive just bought some coilovers and need the top bushes (front and back) and also the bearings does anyone know the part numbers cos my nearest dealer doesnt know the difference between a strut and a wishbone...................and its a 94' VR6............. :)

I just got a pipercross panel air filter (off flea-bay) and its the wrong size ive got a 94' vr6, and the filter is about 2" too short lengthways and about 2"-3" too wide , can anyone tell me if this is for an earlier model or is it just plain wrong? Mod edit - if you want to sell something please can you read the For Sale rules and submit a formal advert, again, as per the rules. Thanks :) -- Jim
