  1. I have a classic policy with the above company, its renewal time, my question is should they be taking the full amount out of my bank account without contacting me, a week before my insurance is up ? Im really peed off they have done this, am i being touchy or are they being cheeky ?
  2. Yea thanks Hasan, it was good to meet you too. If you need any help when you come to do that work, give us a bell or text, its not that straight forward dropping the tank because the fuel lines are attached to a clip which is directly above the tank so is difficult to get to. I would like to show you my car when it gets back on the road, so could maybe coincide that with the work your doing on your car should you need a hand.
  3. Thats a good one it did make me chuckle...........i left petrol in my C for about that long, and it was fine i just filled up and off i went.
  4. Spot on mate looks lovely, i'll have that PM sent.
  5. Yes Sir very interesting any pics ?
  6. ............as much as someone is willing to pay, why not put it to auction with a good reserve ?
  7. Looks like NS Racing (Edgware) have gone bust.........
  8. Well after 19 months of not driving it, the time has finally come. She flew through the mot without any any advisories !! i've never had a car do that before i dont think, so shes insured (performance direct on a classic 3k miles £275) mot'd and done the tax online so just waiting for the postman. It was really weird to drive, felt heavy at the front (after my alpha 145 qv) but because of the rear 28mm nuespeed bar all roll has gone, so gonna have to have a fiddle with suspension settings to get it better.............i was brickin it driving but so excited, roll on the summer............

    coolant flange

That was the only reason i read this thread, im disappointed now..................
  11. The rear wipers on these cars are the stuff of witchcraft, absolutely no chance of working out whats going on with them, mine works great but im too scared to use it, last time i tried it it was still going with the ignition off. Maybe i should have said they are like women - nuff said.

    axle bushes

Jim you seem to be answering this question every week .................
  13. Maybe i should call this work at both ends................. :cuckoo:
  14. No I totally agree with you mate! However I already have a VR so I need a reliable car as a daily and practical to  Fair play, i have to say im always working on my cars and sometimes i forget i have actually got some friends and a social life.......
  15. Got the abs sensor sorted so no more abs light, and the rear arb slotted on .................couple of bits to finish off then mot time, should be able to manage a couple of long runs before winter sets in, cant wait to drive it 11 months and counting.....
  16. You can get the grill off if your very carefull, if someone is pulling the lever then either push down then up on the bonnet or pull the cable a bit more behind the grill.........
  17. Hmmm maybe not then LOL I can understand your point of view, the only thing i can say is i love my VR cos of the way it makes me feel when i sit in it, and drive it, it makes me feel special. You can talk as much as you want about engines and bhp IMO, but i buy cars for how they make me feel when i drive them, i drive the alfa and i feel special like the car was designed especially for me like they knew what i wanted. Thats how i look at cars, if you dont agree then your different to me and horses for courses and all that........... :D
  18. Ive got a alfa 145 cloverleaf, very good car the body is galvanised, unfortunately they didnt bother with the floor so it rusts badly, they eat cam belts and front wishbone bushes. Great handling though the steering is very direct (2.2 turns lock to lock) if you like laying underneath it sorting rust or your head under the bonnet then buy it, if you dont then dont. They need constant tlc it is an alfa after all, would i buy another OH YEAH !! defo.....that twin spark engine is the best 4 pot ive ever had awesome noise only beaten of course by the VR ................
  19. Fair and good comments, its still a lot of labour not to change the clutch imo if you do it yourself or not, that is of course that it is the clutch release bearing as pointed out above ^^
  20. Thanks chaps :notworthy: , the bushes are powerflex, i dont know how they are going to be, the general consensus is the tt rear bushes, but mine is just a weekend car so harshness doesn't worry me. Time will tell i'll post up my findings anyhow...........
  21. Thanks mate, the vibra technic mounts have introduced a fair bit of vibration compared with the 16 year old oe ones. I thought the exhaust was rubbing on the floor somewhere. Anyway all done now just the 28mm nuespeed rear arb to go on with a abs sensor and she'll be ready for mot, then put the schrick on. Six months so far working on it, i drove it round the garages where i keep it and it felt very strange as i havent driven it for 11 months i guess i'll have to learn how to drive it all over again...... :gag:
  22. Its the clutch release bearing thats gone, this gets replaced with the clutch, so you need a clutch kit and do the clutch at the same time. Normally the bearing going is a sign that the clutch wont be far behind........... :)
